- In this video I share my experience installing yet another 12.3" Android Radio unit in my 2015 Porsche Macan S. In prior videos, I installed a Plejbona unit, but decided to try this new DaiNav unit as it looked more OEM. Join me as I go through the installation process of this new unit, and subscribe to the channel.

I saw a Porsche forum and someone had the same issue with a non-functional touchscreen. At his suggestion, I unplugged the connection to the car, pugged the screen into the interface box, then plugged back into the Porsche connection. That worked and I have a touchscreen now.
Thanks for letting us know.
Great job on your installation I just got the same one 2016 Learning a lot from your channel I appreciate .👍👍👍 do you have a new subscriber thank you again..
Thanks! That really means a lot! I do this for the love of it all. So, always grateful when receive comments like yours!
Omg! Awesome.. my next project… thank you for your outstanding video and work. New fan 👍 subscriber.. I will come back to you with questions for sure.. Thank you so much..
Thanks for your kind words, and if you haven’t done so, subscribe!
Thank you for sharing! This content worth pure gold
The air vent adapter came with the screen?
Thank you. Appreciate your kind words!
Yes. If you watch the video I go through all the content of the kit.
Good work 🎉
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Congratulations on your installation and thanks for your patience and dedication to the community. Very detailed with tidbits of critical information!
Question: If original interior trim is carbon fiber around AC side vents, do those match in size and can they be repurposed on new trim pieces?
Cheers!
Thanks for your kind words and thanks for your support! Unfortunately no. Different dimension. And unfortunately these vendors don’t have good alternatives other than for piano black. An alternative is trying to find a vinyl wrap that is a close match to OEM CF. In my case, I had piano black, but I had wrapped my trims long ago on black brushed aluminum vinyl, so it was easy to wrap these parts and make them match.
Soo tempting.
Is very good! And it looks great!
Good job
Thanks! And thanks for the support!
Hi,
Great work!
Does your instrument cluster on the dash - get information from stereo?
like map directions etc? or track you're playing is shown on the dial next to speed?
Thanks.
Thanks so much for your kid words…
No. Instrument cluster comm is lost. If you use that, maybe you should think about other options. I didn’t use it, and I don’t really miss it. The Fakra cable that goes into your instrument cluster is remains disconnected with this unit.
i love this, been looking for this for ages. does the vents in the center loose function ?
The vents are re-routed. They are functional.
@Santirx - This has helped me a ton with my install. Question for you: I saw where you did a work-around with the Mr12Volt radio to allow the factory microphone to work. What did you do with this headunit?
Nothing. This unit has its own microphone, which acts as the factory mic. You’ll see a small opening on the front panel, that’s the mic.
Thanks for sharing your experience! And for your support!
You are a legend. Which unit would you recommend I buy for my 2016 Porsche panamera? Should I also ask the vendor to make sure the one I get has fiber optical output? Thanks in advance! Can't wait to get this installed
I believe this is the equivalent for Panamera: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805615774936.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.3.4bfc3c47SQX9v8&algo_pvid=8adf64c2-b8a6-4511-9c90-3faf5f2281ac&algo_exp_id=8adf64c2-b8a6-4511-9c90-3faf5f2281ac-1&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%211596.77%21990.0%21%21%211596.77%21%21%40210323f716925804874932033e30db%2112000034401624176%21sea%21US%214271462079%21A&curPageLogUid=VPpJMroREo0c
You can ask the vendor if the unit includes Toslink Optical fiber output, but this is only going to work if he supplies a toslink to MOST25 converter box.
Great DIY video!
Is Bermerster using the same Optical Fiber Box as Bose?
I have to think so. MOST25 is a universal communication protocol over fiber optic. As a matter of fact, the MOST box I got from Amazon that produced very good quality was spec’d for Mercedes Benz, but it is a MOST25 box and works in the Macan. Both Bose and Burmester use MOST25 comm protocol.
Just make sure you ask vendor.
Well - following your video it only took me about 45 minutes to get everything connected. WOW. I have plugged the screen in and started my car. The screen lights up. I have AM radio with very good reception, the GPS is working and the native Nav shows where I am, and I can control volume from my steering wheel. So - I think is it connected properly. BUT - my touchscreen does not work so I can't do anything. Is there a switch to activate that or should that be automatically enabled (I'm assuming yes).
Great job on your installation... I do have one question and I'm not sure if it has been ask before... where did you find the wrap and what it the name of the color/manufacture of the it? Thanks

Thank you for the video, I’m leaning towards a similar modification for my RHD 2015 Macan, a couple of questions if I may.
As this video is a few months old has this unit been replaced with anything better?
If not are you still happy with it?
It looks to me that the hardest part of the install is
Removing the original trim without breaking it
Removing the original ductwork behind the unit
Finally installing the whole lot back into place and getting the ductwork installed
I know if I was doing this job and had my mic on there would have been plenty of editing afterwards.
Great job once again
There are other similar models out there, but same functionality for the most part. I’m very happy with the unit. You are correct on installation difficulties.
Hello Santrix! If I am not mistaking you swapped the knobs between the previous unit and that one. Was it easy to remove the knobs? Do you just pull it? Would it be possible to use the original ones from PCM? Great DIY as always.
No, I didn’t swap the knobs. I got new knobs from eBay for PCM 5 or 6, modified them a bit and then install them in the unit.
Thank you
You're welcome
Hello, congratulation on your installation. Can i ask you how to connect the radio to original back camera? Thank you
There is a RCA connector that comes out of the quad connector harness adapter, that then you connect to the unit through another RCA connector harness that then connects to the rear of the unit.
Hey Santirx, hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions. I am digging this new unit a lot, but the fact that it does not have native MOST25 output is kind of a dealbreaker at the moment for me.
I have seen that you mention that they released a version with TOSLINK. My question for you is: would you know how to convert the digital TOSLINK signal to MOST25? I have tried to find adaptors, but they all seem to convert the signal in the opposite direction (i.e Coax/TOSLINK to MOST25). The only alternative that I can imagine is ditching the original amp and use an aftermarket one that supports digital input... but if I could avoid that, all the better.
Also, how is the analog-to-digital signal quality of this particular unit in your opinion? Perhaps I am needlessly obsessing with keeping a full digital path to the amplifier, if the DAC used by the unit is half decent.
Looking forward to hearing from you, and many thanks in advance!
I was as obsessed as you, believe me. The only box I was able to find that converts Toslink to MOST25 comes from Plejbona. When I got the Plejbona unit, I made sure that the converter box was Toslink to MOST25. Even though the image in Amazon appears to be exactly the same as others, they will send you the Toslink to MOST25 if you talk to them. Let me see if I can post a photo somewhere…. But the link is: Fiber Optic Box for Benz BMW Porsche Audi Volvo Android Radio Car Video Player GPS Navigation a.co/d/1RWMan5
I have to say however that the other analog to MOST25 box I got from Amazon did probably a better job than the PLEJBONA unit box. Link: DNL Teclink Optical Fiber Decoder... www.amazon.com/dp/B094Y8J6DT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There are some cheap converters (like the one supplied with this unit) that are not going to work well. I already told this to the vendor.
But there are other analog to digital converters that really do a good job.
The part where you were disconnecting the stock air vents, there’s no audio… were you walking us through the steps? Where are the clips or whatever that hold the stock air vents in place?
There are 6 clips that hold the vents in place. Two on top (towards the side) and two on either side of the duct. Then, the ducts will start to swivel from the bottom. I kept swiveling up and down until it came out.
Thank you for sharing, what would you recommend for a 2016 Panamera? Does the units support SiriusXM?
Thanks for watching! Hopefully you subscribed to the channel for future updates. You can check this one out (is same manufacturer and same unit, but for Panamera): www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805972879917.html?algo_pvid=cc4358ed-83bf-4507-9c0e-4d56abcca264&algo_exp_id=cc4358ed-83bf-4507-9c0e-4d56abcca264-2&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%211090.00%21763.00%21%21%211090.00%21763.00%21%402101f49c17058040346858131e642e%2112000036041966853%21sea%21US%210%21AB&curPageLogUid=BflnHD9TDN6t&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A
Just confirm with DaiNav that it will fit your Panamera. You will need to tell them if you have a Base system or Bose or Burmester.
On SiriusXM, unfortunately this unit doesn’t support that natively. The alternative is to download the app in CarPlay or Android Auto, and use it from within that environment.
Great install! thanks for the video. Is there a big difference with performance with the 64gb and 128gb? Which one did you recommend?
I believe this is only storage space difference. No difference in performance. Either should be fine. Although I only tested the 128gb version. Maybe someone that tested the 64gb version would care to comment here…. Thanks for your comment, it means a lot.
@@porscheDIY I asked the supplier and they mentioned the 64gb and 128gb is just difference in storage. Not sure what I would store on there as I would be streaming mostly music.
Hi Santtirx.. i follow your head unit installs for advice ... thanks... but after reading all the negative reviews posted here about DAINAV which unit would you recommend now?
These type of units in AliExpress are all notorious for suboptimal after sales support. Therefore I can’t really recommend any. If you want it, you just have to take the plunge with whatever company sells it. Just make sure they send you actual photos of the unit they will be sending you so that you are sure is the right one you want.
I would like to have seen it in action going through the menus and features.
In the video linked below, I do just that!
DaiNav {Class} 12.3'" Android Head Unit - User Interface and Options Review...

Hi,
I have a few questions.
1. Like speakerphone sound quality
2. Is the FM radio working properly?
3. Is there a problem with the traffic sign camera?
I am asking because I myself have option 1 (the older one) and I have problems with it as I wrote above
I’m not sure I completely understand your questions but I’ll attempt to answer what I understand.
(1) assuming this is the phone calls and the quality of calls/voice. For me, this was the same for both units. But, call quality is always good. It was good for me before with prior unit, and is good now.
(2) Yes, working fine. Good antenna connection is important.
(3) I don’t have a traffic sign camera in my Macan so I can’t comment on that.
Hope this helps.
I bought one of these with buttons (not installed yet). Now, I want to exchange to this updated version for better ventilation. I think you were certain that the update with no buttons was a better unit. A couple of questions: 1 - it seems the factory vents are left uncovered behind the radio. Did you cover them or fill them with foam? 2 - to save space, why not cut off the big unconnected audio plugs? 3 - There is a connector with an antenna. Did you use that or connect the Porsche antenna?
No need to fill with foam as air is completely redirected to new vents. You need to detach OEM ducts from main supply duct and secure them with a tie wrap. Then install the new ductwork in the supply duct.
I didn’t want to cut any wires as it is my intention to take everything back to OEM stock if I ever sell the car or trade it. For the antenna, you need to use the wire adapter, from normal antenna connector to fakra. This is provided in the kit.
@@porscheDIY Thanks. But the wires I might cut are on the back of the new radio (not part of the Porsche wiring). It would make it much easier to stuff them behind the screen. If I ever sell my car, the poor new owner will just have to put up with the impressive upgrade :)
@@markstephenson6952 I see. I don’t see any issues cutting non-usable wires provided with the unit.
This unit looks like it has better fit and finish.
Correct. A couple of us had been in contact with vendor and it seems there is an improved unit with TOS optical and digital coaxial output.
Hello
Very nice video
Is possible help me ??
I installing 12.3 but sound is not very high and nice
Have solutions for me ..
This is all due to the MOST converter box. It is not good. Please refer to the description on my video. I recommend other converter boxes that are much better.
Did you consider adding a box that allows the original head unit to work with all CarPlay functions on the same screen? or did you want a 12.3" scren? Thanks
Please watch other videos in the subject on my channel. Yes, I did. I started with Joye, moved to Isudar, then Mr12Volt (all adding CarPlay capability to the PCM3.1). Then moved to one 12.3 unit and ended up with another 12.3 unit which is the one in the video. I have done extensive research on this. Subscribe to the channel and watch other videos…
@@porscheDIY Thank you @Santrix. I have ordered my 12.3 unit, can I upgrade compatability of Carplay to PCM 5 or 6?
Btw it’s for right hand drive car
As stated, consult with vendor to see if there is a way to switch to right hand drive. I think there is a way.
I've installed everything into my Macan following this guide, but I'm running into the problem for connecting the rear camera. When I put the car into reverse, the system brings up the rear camera pov, but it's just a black screen. Do you have any idea what this could be?
Do you have surround view or just rear view? It could be a setting issue. If you have 360 camera and set for only single camera, or viceversa.
Sorry for the late reply. I've taken this radio out multiple times and have checked the cables and am 90% sure everything g is correct. I read your reply really late and think I'm probably in 360 view and can't figure out how to change it to single. Do you know where this is in the settings?
Hello,so was the second unit better ? It certainly looks more OEM !!!
Yes, it looks more OEM. Audio quality is digital quality with second converter box. They came up with an upgraded unit now that has Toslink optical output direct from unit.
@@porscheDIYI really like this unit in the video as it looks much cleaner behind the screen, do you have a link for the upgraded unit with toslink?
@@CQ84GYT Is the same link in the description of the video. You just need to IM the vendor through AliExpress to make sure the one you buy has fiber optical output.
@@porscheDIY Are you saying that you no longer need the upgrade to the DNL Teclink Optical Fiber Decoder Box on Amazon?
@@markstephenson6952 If you are keeping the Bose amplifier, you still need the box as you need to convert signal to MOST. If you have an aftermarket amplifier that accepts SPDIF input, then you can connect directly.
Would I lose functional air vents with that? It's not that they're necessary, but I do wonder. Thanks. Regards from Malta!
Thanks for watching! To your question, not at all. If you watch the video, you’ll see that the air vents are re-routed to the bottom of the unit. With this unit you can still open and close the vents. And the ducts are large enough to allow more air than other similar units.
I may have asked the n another video but functionality do you lose by adding this head unit (ie TPM, Sirius XM, etc). Great videos and thank you for sharing for sharing.
Hello can you tell me if you can add a front camera on this unit?
I don’t think you can add a front camera in combination with the OEM rear view camera. I think you have to go full aftermarket and install both rear and front, then you can do it. But best to contact the unit’s manufacturer. Thanks for watching!
I have a question, would that screen work for a 2018 Macan S? If so where can I purchase.
Thank you great video
Thanks for your kind words. This is a good question. I would think it will work with the right MOST converter. Your Macan has the upgraded MOST150 fiber system, while mine is MOST25. I’m assuming that they would provide the right converter box for you. You need to contact vendor for this.
@@porscheDIY thank you, are you located in California?
@@Smallvet Nope… New England.
@@porscheDIY I am going to watch your video a few times I am going to order the same system for my 2018 Macan S
@@Smallvet Let us know how it goes!
Hello, I was wondering if there’s a way you or someone els would be capable of installing all of this for me , because I am scared I will mess up my car. And can I get you to do this for me if that is possible?
I would recommend you contact a professional installer in your area. I can help with any questions.
@@porscheDIYhow do I find an installer in my area?
how do you connected orinigal reverse camera? i cant't find the right lvds connector
The connection is via the provided Quad-Connector. There is an RCA connector properly identified that comes from the supplied quad connector and it connects to another RCA connector that goes into the unit through one of the small connections in the rear of the unit. I explain that in the video.
@@porscheDIY i've done, but i can see only black screen
@@simonetodaro6826 Ensure that when you put your car in reverse, that the emergency brake is off. The camera wont turn on unless you release the e brake. If you are already doing that and you still don’t see an image, you need to go to settings menu and select the menu that will require passcode. Passcode is 3368. In there, you will see configuration for the camera. Make sure you select the right one. If you don’t have 360 mode, it is probably set for 360 and you need to change it. Please watch my review video for the access and where is this setting located. And subscribe to the channel if you have not done so…. Thanks for watching and good luck.
@@porscheDIY nothingto do. e-brake off, camera set to original camera, 360 off, steering and reverse signal set to can-bus, can-bus set to luzengh cayenne 15-18 (the only one that make functional steering wheel volume control), camera controlled with pcm 3.1 and it's fully working, but with android system i can see only a black screen. thank you for your support anyway
@@simonetodaro6826 did you reboot the unit? Slide your finger from the top of the screen down, a menu will appear that will give you the option to reboot. If that doesn’t work, then, recheck connection.
Anything for 2013 panamera ?
I think they have a solution for the Panamera. You can check with the vendor in AliExpress.
Kann mir jemand helfen wo ihn Deutschland so was machen kann ???
I’m not sure, hopefully someone in the community that knows will be able to tell you. Good luck and thanks for watching.
So if you had to narrow down your choice to one, which one would you choose and why?
Now you are entering into my next video’s territory…😊. Stay tuned! Video coming out soon.
@@porscheDIYplease include a video of the unit’s start up after ignition is turned on. I would like to see the boot process. Does the unit have the ability to have a Porsche boot/splash screen? Thank you for the video and thank you for contacting the vendor about having that sticker removed

Hi care to share the link?
Thank you 😊
All relevant links are in the description of the video…. I think you can change this unit to right hand drive. Check with vendor.
Hello Santrix. If I am not mistaking you swapped the knobs between the previous unit and that one. Was it easy to remove the knobs? Do you just pull them? Would it be possible to use the original ones from PCM? Great DIY as always!
I believe I answer your first question earlier, but I got new knobs from eBay that I have to modify slightly by drilling carefully to open up the stem, and then install them in the unit. The unit knobs come out very easily, you pull them. And you would not be able to use original ones without modifying them, so I recommend buying a set and modifying them rather than using existing.
