Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you take us through the ins and outs of freezer paper appliqué. Very very helpful indeed. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
The BEST tutorial EVER for sharp corners like on the leaf ponts .. there are so many similiar videos on You Tube but none of them show the technique so well in my opinion and I am a sharp point FANATIC!! Thank you so much
Sweet Lady ! Freezer paper is plastic-coated NOT wax-coated and that’s why is great to be used for fabric. Wax would leave some grease, even color stains on fabric. Helpful hint: Dollar Tree store has a pack of 3 silicon thimbles. Those are great for protecting fingers from super glue, hot glue or burning with on iron accidents. Have a great day 😊
So glad you mentioned this! I'm just learning about applique and my son bought me a roll of freezer paper. I thought it was the wrong kind cuz it says 'plastic coated'. You've saved me a very inconvenient shopping trip! TY ;)
Great demonstration and thanks for reminder that it takes a little patience, that it is fun and that it is worth doing for the excellent quality of applique achieved with this method. God's blessings on your day. Zoanne
If can, get one of those Clover mini irons it works pretty good for turning the fabric over the freezer paper. You can always hit the whole thing with your regular iron once the folding over is done and you happy with the edges.
Thank you so much for the demonstration. It was great. I can’t get freezer paper so far in Florida but my daughters bringing me a couple. So I can get started. Thank you again. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Fyi..if you look at the writing on the freezer paper box, you will notice it's not coated with wax on the shiny side, but is a thin layer of plastic. But thank you for this tutorial.. also love your quilt shop when I'm in Eohrata.
@@TheFabricPatch You just do one on top of the other one not the shiny sides together. It was on the Fat Quarter whop called How to applique a heart using the starch method Featuring Kimberly Jolly and Joanne Figuera. T hat is what you put in on you tube to watch the video.
Janice Coulson It’s an alternative product for fabric starch. “The clear starch and sizing alternative”. Product name is Mary Ellen’s Best Press @ www.maryellenproducts.com for more info...eco friendly, no residue on irons! Great product. A lot of folks in restaurant industry use it for their uniforms and white shirts and aprons. Comes in two sizes: 16.9 oz spray bottle and gallon. Buy the gallon size for economy once you’re sure you like it because the spray bottles are refillable.
A liquid starch alternative. Has some really nice scents. Doesn't get goopy and flaky like spray starch. Look up starch alternative recipe using cheap vodka. I use that a lot instead of Best Press.

Barbara Chaplain it's an American starch I'm in Australia but had to buy some for a class once you can just use any spray starch
If can, get one of those Clover mini irons it works pretty good for turning the fabric over the freezer paper. You can always hit the whole thing with your regular iron once the folding over is done and you happy with the edges.
That was very helpful. I will try it. Thanks!
Your work is lovely! Thank you.
Wonderful tutorial, have freezer paper in my supplies, haven’t used it yet, the Best Press is a good idea.
Thank you so much for the demonstration. It was great. I can’t get freezer paper so far in Florida but my daughters bringing me a couple. So I can get started. Thank you again. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Thank you great video-Is there a pattern for the snowman quilt on the wall behind you? Very cute.

Have you ever had issues with the frixion ink reappearing when exposed to cold.

Which glue is this and will it affect the needle?
I just dip a small brush into some spray starch...holds great!
I recently saw someone doing that with hexies. I am going to try it.
I do it that way too. But since I also have Best Press I might try it that way too.
Thank you that was really cool.
Geeta B dank voor de duidelijke uit leg gr Ria Holland
I went to the fabric patch , but could not find your freezer paper. Send me a link for purchasing them Thank you
Thnx
Does anyone know what kind of glue stick she used?
Vicky Lambert any glue stick will work, it will wash out on first wash. I used one kids can use in school.
Vicky just make sure the glue stick says for fabric. I'm in Australia and we have uhu glue sticks and bostick which actually say fabric.
If your template is not symmetrical, you have to reverse it before tracing onto the freezer paper, right?
Would love to know this as well. Not sure why its like a well kept secret but no one ever addresses it. Hopefully this lady will.
Great job. Thank you ☺️
What is the best surface to use when applying the starch to the shape? Wool mat? Cutting mat? Freezer paper? Etc.
Just a flat surface. I have a huge ironing board and I usually do it right on there.
The Fabric Patch thank you so much. That’s very helpful.
Tolles Video...danke dir....diese Untertitel in Deutsch wären echt stark👍😘
I am in Ontario and I cannot find this paper but we do have butcher paper it is brown and shiny on one side and paper on the other is that the same???
Frixon pens are not made for use on the fabrics. The mark may disappear initially; however, the mark can return after washing. Personal experience.
Frixion markers by Pilot are actually marketed for fabric. But don’t buy a different brand, they won’t work the same.
Thanks so much for the great tutorial. I understand a lot more now than I did thanks to you.

A video shared doubling the freezer paper. Iron the two shiny sides together. She said you can use the piece maybe 20 times.
If you iron the two shiny sides together how do you iron it to your fabric?

Oh sure. That makes total sense. DLR said two shiny sides together and I could not figure that one out.
Thanks for explaining
Wonderful
What kind of glue are you using?
I have several I like. Favorite is Roxannes glue baste-it.
Grandmother is always right...
Très bonne explication
what about brown butcher freezer paper?
Shelley St.Clair it works too!
Good review
very good thanks.
Not Wax. It's actually a plastic film!
Ime from UK can I ask what best press is please?

Wax would make a mess. It is a plastic, shiny side.
Awesome♥♥♥
Thanks! I’ve always found getting the point on leaves perfect. Most helpful!
