Hello everyone, Thank you everyone for the support you showed me. I want to specify some things: 1. Mod is safe for online gameplay BUT as EA/Dice do not support mods there is always a risk. 2. People been asking why i had to remove ammo bags or stuff like that. The meshes in BF1 are combined which means that if you want to remove, let's say, a scarf you will probably remove other things too, like ammo bags or whatever. 3. Weapons are not moddable. Any modifications made to guns will result in a insta-ban. 4. Will I create a mod like this for BFV ? Probably not. I do not own BFV and there are little chances that i will buy a copy in the near future. But if someday i will buy the game then yes, definitely i will try to create mods for it. Also FrostyEditor do not have support for BFV. 5. This mod is client-side only which means only the mod users will see the changes. If you like the vanilla game that's fine, you won't see anything different even if you play with mod users on the same server. 6. If you don't like it, don't use it. Cheers!
Actually the stormtroopers had camouflage all over the base helmet. In BF1 there's camouflage only on the front part of the helmet which is actually a sniper shield helmet.

Imagine just for one second that you weren't white and wanted to play a game about a conflict that your race was a part of. The closest I could personally feel is in bfv where they had the ANZAC messenger story, I really enjoyed this mission because I felt pride in the Australian people who aren't always talked about in regards to WW2. It doesn't affect you in the slightest to play as a black man, but it probably feels great to play being someone who is black. You know what's wrong with BF1 - Black German soldiers (They do have the Askaris in Africa, but they never fought in Europe) - wrong uniforms (Most German soldiers just wear caps, leather helmets, pickelhaube, but if its like 1917-1918, most of them wear stalhelms) -British medics wearing turbans (Turbans were only worn by British Expeditionary Forces from India) -French army with no colored soldiers (They had volunteer forces from their African colonies, and not to mention the Harlem Hellfighters from the United States) And many more, you can reply anything I have missed and I'll try to give some info

Example: .US BAR Gunner 1- spawn in as support with BAR in friendly territory on Ballroom Blitz or Argonne Forest 2- redeploy 3- spawn in again as assault 4- pick up the support kit from where you redeployed 5- don’t die if you want to stay a BAR gunner without that weird metal helmet the supports have
It’s the American Model 8 experimental helmet, barely saw any use from 1917-1918. Cool that they added it but it should have been a customizable accessory or an unlock.
I think a lot of the backlash DICE is getting regarding accuracy in their efforts at diversity could be easily avoided if the player was able to CHOOSE their appearance in game, instead of the appearances being forced. If you want to be a POC or woman, you can, and if not, you can do that too. Everybody is happy. Of course, it's EA and that's another bit of code they'd need to write, so why would they even bother.
I think that really messes up the class association though, this is a big problem in bfV too where we’re not able to easily associate certain skins with their classes while in bf1, each class for each faction has their own unique skin which makes it easier to recognize that class
One of the only gripes I had with this game was the wacky appearances. Really, only the assault class for each faction was accurate to their historical counterparts.
They designed each class to represent a different unit that served in WWI, so it’s not the most historically accurate route they took, but it has it’s roots in actual history. The German cavalry and scout is based on the African guerillas that fought under Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck in the East African region. They are to still this day stated as the most effective guerilla resistance to ever exist. The US scout is to represent the Harlem Hellfighters. The British to represent their colonial troops, etc.

I'd love to see the mod that changes female soldiers to random men soldiers (and it also changes their voice to male). I'm not sexist or anything but these screaming women are kinda out of place. I like the idea of women soldiers in the Red Army or in some resistance units, but right now I can't stand that almost every soldier in BF V is a woman.

Cool mod. I get that the game is highly stylized and the gameplay/combat is not really historically accurate, but it's nice to see the soldiers looking more like real WWI soldiers instead of running around with capes and freakin' Kylo Ren helmets.
Germans, French, and British used Colonial troops from Sub-Saharan Africa throughout the war, and the White Russians used women in women only battalions against the Germans and the Bolsheviks. Some people may want to play a more realistic version of WW1 but calling it the 'Non-SJW' is extremely inaccurate considering these were real people fighting in the War.
There actually was female soldiers in the Russian army, they were called the Women’s Battalion of Death. Search them up if you want, but I’m just saying that they were a thing.

doesn't change the fact that the weapons handle completely unrealistically in Battlefield 1. only in Battlefield 1 you can carry yourself a behemoth of a machinegun like the M1917 browning with 250 bullets engraved in gold, run at full speed and reload while running.
Actually gun mechanics like spread are realistic, i don't care about the 1917, it'a a bad weapon, so why use it? You can mod the weapons if you want, but good luck with the ban in that case
They just didn't fight in WWII. There was a small division in the French Army that was a political stunt between the Allies in an attempt to improve acceptance by Americans. And one small flying squadron. There were also a few in North Africa (but those were mostly Arabians and Berbers). Nazis had no black soldiers. But plenty of Arabic ones.

Tbh I like the BF1 uniforms they look cool, you might say that it’s not historically correct but bf1’s gameplay isn’t even close to historically correct.
The game pretty much had to take liberties on the historical side in order to be fun and fit the battlefield formula and in the end I think it does a good enough job of respecting history to try best of its ability.

Black people are 12% of the U.S. infantry and even less when it comes to special forces. In the world war it was even less especially with European armies. So yeah add black ppl sure, but stop over representing their population in media.
Especially when a Central Powers' soldier (so one entire battle class out of the four, in every clash/map) gets randomly replaced by an african one and it's not an eventual Central Africa campaign front. Same thing for France and the UK (the indian soldier together in the same faction with the white soldiers are instead accurate, the UK had plenty of those troops and fighting actively - of course this would be relevant in the eastern fronts where they were prominent, but still - ).
I thought it was kinda cool that they modeled colonial troops and the hellfighters. Had they not I probably wouldn't have complained either way. But the point is, I could suspend my disbelief so long as there was actual history behind the character models. But I really like seeing the effort you put into this

I think both the french and the British medics really shouldn’t be changed because there are tons of examples of Commonwealth troops from India fighting with the British for the French there are also lots of examples of African soldiers fighting in the French ranks but everything else looks really good
@@carlosmedina1281 indian troops contributed more to WW1 then Australians and Canadians combined. Same with WW2, where 2.5 million indian soldiers fought compared to 770k Australians and 1.1 million Canadians.
Fun fact: the british medic outfit was already accurate. In WW1 the british had control over india so there were Indian soldiers fighting in the british army And their outfit in the game is what they would have worn. So the update to the british medic soldier should have stayed the same because it was accurate.
As an Indian, It is VERY wrong. The soldier depicted is a Sikh(from the turban style) and he should have a full beard. Sikhs weren't allowed to join unless Baptized in many cases which meant them having Beards and well if he isn't supposed to be a Sikh then the Turban style is very wrong.

Taking that into consideration then almost all troops on the British side on the Oil of Empire campaign should be Indians with only 1 being British as it was Indian Expeditionary force. Even in the Gallipoli campaign there should be 1 Indian among the 4. As for the European battles yes I agree it was very rare, had the game included maps of battles like Neuve Chappelle it would have made alot more sense

Idk why Dice won’t just let us customise our soldier appearance with period clothing that was worn on each map as it was during the war, like why is that so hard? Then everyone can play how they wish to be represented instead of forcing one appearance down everybody’s throats and skewing historical accuracy.

@@sundancetitan5675 Similar yes, but there’s huge things that differentiates them. American had different webbing, they had a more greener uniform than the British, they didn’t have gold buttons, and their collars were much different and had collar discs along with it.
One thing I’d like to point out is for the German Assault kit, specifically the camo helmet that the original model has, that IS historically accurate since German shocktroopers wore camo helmets, still looks good nonetheless Also the British medic isn’t SJW at all, over a million Indian soldiers served in the British army, do a little bit more research.
Actually no, the camo helmet shown was actually only issued to marksmen and sniper roles, as that camoflague is actually also a ballistics plate to better protect against bullets. The camoflagued helmet that stormtroopers did actually wear was painted over the entire helmet, and had no ballistics plate, as that plate happened to be ridiculously heavy and unsuitable for assaults.
@@CommunityFan yeah but it was specifically women’s only battalions and also they didn’t really participate much in the war, they were mostly deployed back in their own territory during the insurrections in 1917, still cool nonetheless they were included in the game.

I think they were just trying to show the women and minorities that did fight in ww1. There’s a reason why the women are only Russian and that’s because there was a battalion of of Russian women. There were a hand full of black Germans too. Both the women and black Germans were rare to see fighting but not impossible so I think they were just trying to represent different people who did fight.

@@el-fantasma21 I’m pretty sure they know it wasn’t every soldier. They just put those in because they wanted to represent soldiers who actually fought. It doesn’t really change gameplay or look out of place. They’re still wearing the uniforms. Now, the problem comes in when you look at BFV. At least in BF1 when they had black German soldiers, those actually existed in some capacity. Having black NAZI soldiers is ridiculous. The same thing with women in the Allies. The problem I have with that is the fact that those soldiers didn’t exist AT ALL. At least in BF1 it was based on reality because the actually were black German soldiers and women White Army soldiers.
Anyone in 2024 using this mod? Does it work and is there a risk of getting banned? I also really dont like the black german snipers, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Similar to the rules for Battlefront 2 client-only mods. Unless it directly affects the stats of your guns in gameplay you run a pretty low risk of getting banned. I ran this mod and never got any notice, so this should be safe to use
As @grilledcheeseinator55 said, as long as it doesn't change how your weapon works, like giving it a faster firing rate or increasing the damage, you should be fine. Purely cosmetic mods like these normally don't violate Dice's modding rules
I understand removing the black soldiers for Germany, since their African colonies were limited and they never really brought them to Europe. But the rest of the teams are fine.
Removing black troops from the US faction would be more historicaly accurate too because sadly segregation was still enforced in the American army and they where mostly sent to the French lines and used French equipment
This is cool but it shouldn't be necessary. There should not be black men fighting on a German side on the western front in a game set during WWI. It is a nonsensical sight to behold that does history and the genuine black men of WWI a disservice. Black people during this time period were heavily persecuted and would never in a million years have been allowed to bear a German military uniform on the western front. This is sadly the reality of the time period and Dice should have stayed true to that. People will say it is "just a video game", but a movie based on real historical events is "just a movie", and so I wonder what the reaction would be like if suddenly Nelson Mandela was portrayed by a white actor? or if Mary Seacole was played by a white actress? or if suddenly a historically "black event" was whitewashed with an array of white faces? I think black people would have something to say, or at the least, would be surprised. Of course, black people featuring in factions where they make no sense is not the only thing that is historically inaccurate about BF1. For example, people like to point out that many of the guns never saw use in the war, and yes that's true, but for the sake of making the game play "fun" and "varied" (an essential component for any game), prototype weapons needed to be added to the mix. Adding black people to the game in scenarios where they make no logical or historical sense doesn't make the game play more fun. In fact, it's an immersion-breaker to many. If black people were added purely for the sake of inclusion, they should have added a historically correct black faction, like the Nova Scotia No. 2 Construction Battalion, and implemented a story that focused on their fight for equal representation and the contribution they made to the war effort, such as repairing roads, logging and building trenches. That is a historical correct scenario that most people wouldn't have minded. On the contrary in fact, it might even have encouraged people to take more of an interest in the lesser-known roles that black people played during the Great War. Instead, they chose to put a black man on the front cover of the game and basically laugh in the face of history, and in turn at black people's long struggle for equality during that time period. No, black people were not heavily represented during WWI at all, largely due to prejudice, so don't put a black man on your front cover and pretend they weren't. If you want to make a modern shooter where ethnic diversity is a more plausible scenario, go ahead, but not in a WWI shooter where it makes absolutely no sense. The men who fought for Germany on the western front during WWI were white, as were the overwhelming majority (like 99.999%) of allied soldiers. I am sorry if that offends oversensitive people in the 21st century who insist on everything being inclusive, but I am afraid it is simply a fact that black men were nonexistent in the German military on the western front. Facts don't care about people's feelings. A game like Verdun did it correctly. M2H and BlackMill Games made a game based on WWI and put white men in it, because that makes sense...
As a black guy who's played Battlefield since I was 12 I've always been disheartened that people see the inclusion of black ppl like myself in video games be seen as "political". Why is it a problem? We have never had an issue with playing white characters, it's just nice to be physically represented sometimes.

I think that the pack should stay on the support troops since in my preference it helps me distinguished from other troops. Such as the medic and his crutches.
Actually I just read that the Harlem Hellfighters were transferred to the French before the Muese-Argonne Offensive so maybe I'd nix the black American Scout too. But still, I think this mod should be distributed model by model, so people can follow their own preferences.

@@jorgeckert3162 The Austro-Hungarians Army's standard issue uniform during the war was more of a blue gray color than the solid gray with red piping seen in Bf1. They also did not wear steel helmets as shown in the Russian maps which are set early on in the war, rather steel helmets were issued in 1916 afterwards to stormtroopers. Also, most of the soldiers wore puttees that matched the color of their uniform rather than high ankle black boots. Stormtroopers also didn't carry shotgun belts and from what I've researched, grenade bags were far more common. The field cap the scout wears is accurate though, minus the color and the rest of his uniform.

Thank you everyone for the support you showed me.
I want to specify some things:
1. Mod is safe for online gameplay BUT as EA/Dice do not support mods there is always a risk.
2. People been asking why i had to remove ammo bags or stuff like that.
The meshes in BF1 are combined which means that if you want to remove, let's say, a scarf you will probably remove other things too, like ammo bags or whatever.
3. Weapons are not moddable. Any modifications made to guns will result in a insta-ban.
4. Will I create a mod like this for BFV ?
Probably not. I do not own BFV and there are little chances that i will buy a copy in the near future. But if someday i will buy the game then yes, definitely i will try to create mods for it. Also FrostyEditor do not have support for BFV.
5. This mod is client-side only which means only the mod users will see the changes. If you like the vanilla game that's fine, you won't see anything different even if you play with mod users on the same server.
6. If you don't like it, don't use it.

It's not sjw to represent people who literally fought in WWI. Imagine just for one second that you weren't white and wanted to play a game about a conflict that your race was a part of.
The closest I could personally feel is in bfv where they had the ANZAC messenger story, I really enjoyed this mission because I felt pride in the Australian people who aren't always talked about in regards to WW2.
It doesn't affect you in the slightest to play as a black man, but it probably feels great to play being someone who is black.

1- spawn in as support with BAR in friendly territory on Ballroom Blitz or Argonne Forest
2- redeploy
3- spawn in again as assault
4- pick up the support kit from where you redeployed
5- don’t die if you want to stay a BAR gunner without that weird metal helmet the supports have

I think a lot of the backlash DICE is getting regarding accuracy in their efforts at diversity could be easily avoided if the player was able to CHOOSE their appearance in game, instead of the appearances being forced. If you want to be a POC or woman, you can, and if not, you can do that too. Everybody is happy.

I think that really messes up the class association though, this is a big problem in bfV too where we’re not able to easily associate certain skins with their classes while in bf1, each class for each faction has their own unique skin which makes it easier to recognize that class

They designed each class to represent a different unit that served in WWI, so it’s not the most historically accurate route they took, but it has it’s roots in actual history.
The German cavalry and scout is based on the African guerillas that fought under Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck in the East African region. They are to still this day stated as the most effective guerilla resistance to ever exist. The US scout is to represent the Harlem Hellfighters. The British to represent their colonial troops, etc.

Cool mod. I get that the game is highly stylized and the gameplay/combat is not really historically accurate, but it's nice to see the soldiers looking more like real WWI soldiers instead of running around with capes and freakin' Kylo Ren helmets.
Germans, French, and British used Colonial troops from Sub-Saharan Africa throughout the war, and the White Russians used women in women only battalions against the Germans and the Bolsheviks. Some people may want to play a more realistic version of WW1 but calling it the 'Non-SJW' is extremely inaccurate considering these were real people fighting in the War.

They just didn't fight in WWII. There was a small division in the French Army that was a political stunt between the Allies in an attempt to improve acceptance by Americans. And one small flying squadron. There were also a few in North Africa (but those were mostly Arabians and Berbers). Nazis had no black soldiers. But plenty of Arabic ones.

Especially when a Central Powers' soldier (so one entire battle class out of the four, in every clash/map) gets randomly replaced by an african one and it's not an eventual Central Africa campaign front. Same thing for France and the UK (the indian soldier together in the same faction with the white soldiers are instead accurate, the UK had plenty of those troops and fighting actively - of course this would be relevant in the eastern fronts where they were prominent, but still - ).
I thought it was kinda cool that they modeled colonial troops and the hellfighters. Had they not I probably wouldn't have complained either way. But the point is, I could suspend my disbelief so long as there was actual history behind the character models.

Fun fact: the british medic outfit was already accurate. In WW1 the british had control over india so there were Indian soldiers fighting in the british army And their outfit in the game is what they would have worn. So the update to the british medic soldier should have stayed the same because it was accurate.
As an Indian, It is VERY wrong. The soldier depicted is a Sikh(from the turban style) and he should have a full beard. Sikhs weren't allowed to join unless Baptized in many cases which meant them having Beards and well if he isn't supposed to be a Sikh then the Turban style is very wrong.

One thing I’d like to point out is for the German Assault kit, specifically the camo helmet that the original model has, that IS historically accurate since German shocktroopers wore camo helmets, still looks good nonetheless

Actually no, the camo helmet shown was actually only issued to marksmen and sniper roles, as that camoflague is actually also a ballistics plate to better protect against bullets.
The camoflagued helmet that stormtroopers did actually wear was painted over the entire helmet, and had no ballistics plate, as that plate happened to be ridiculously heavy and unsuitable for assaults.
Same with the Russian stuff, women did serve the Russian Armies

@@el-fantasma21 I’m pretty sure they know it wasn’t every soldier. They just put those in because they wanted to represent soldiers who actually fought. It doesn’t really change gameplay or look out of place. They’re still wearing the uniforms. Now, the problem comes in when you look at BFV. At least in BF1 when they had black German soldiers, those actually existed in some capacity. Having black NAZI soldiers is ridiculous. The same thing with women in the Allies. The problem I have with that is the fact that those soldiers didn’t exist AT ALL. At least in BF1 it was based on reality because the actually were black German soldiers and women White Army soldiers.
Anyone in 2024 using this mod? Does it work and is there a risk of getting banned? I also really dont like the black german snipers, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Similar to the rules for Battlefront 2 client-only mods. Unless it directly affects the stats of your guns in gameplay you run a pretty low risk of getting banned. I ran this mod and never got any notice, so this should be safe to use
As @grilledcheeseinator55 said, as long as it doesn't change how your weapon works, like giving it a faster firing rate or increasing the damage, you should be fine. Purely cosmetic mods like these normally don't violate Dice's modding rules

I understand removing the black soldiers for Germany, since their African colonies were limited and they never really brought them to Europe. But the rest of the teams are fine.
Removing black troops from the US faction would be more historicaly accurate too because sadly segregation was still enforced in the American army and they where mostly sent to the French lines and used French equipment
This is cool but it shouldn't be necessary. There should not be black men fighting on a German side on the western front in a game set during WWI. It is a nonsensical sight to behold that does history and the genuine black men of WWI a disservice. Black people during this time period were heavily persecuted and would never in a million years have been allowed to bear a German military uniform on the western front. This is sadly the reality of the time period and Dice should have stayed true to that. People will say it is "just a video game", but a movie based on real historical events is "just a movie", and so I wonder what the reaction would be like if suddenly Nelson Mandela was portrayed by a white actor? or if Mary Seacole was played by a white actress? or if suddenly a historically "black event" was whitewashed with an array of white faces? I think black people would have something to say, or at the least, would be surprised.
Of course, black people featuring in factions where they make no sense is not the only thing that is historically inaccurate about BF1. For example, people like to point out that many of the guns never saw use in the war, and yes that's true, but for the sake of making the game play "fun" and "varied" (an essential component for any game), prototype weapons needed to be added to the mix. Adding black people to the game in scenarios where they make no logical or historical sense doesn't make the game play more fun. In fact, it's an immersion-breaker to many. If black people were added purely for the sake of inclusion, they should have added a historically correct black faction, like the Nova Scotia No. 2 Construction Battalion, and implemented a story that focused on their fight for equal representation and the contribution they made to the war effort, such as repairing roads, logging and building trenches. That is a historical correct scenario that most people wouldn't have minded. On the contrary in fact, it might even have encouraged people to take more of an interest in the lesser-known roles that black people played during the Great War. Instead, they chose to put a black man on the front cover of the game and basically laugh in the face of history, and in turn at black people's long struggle for equality during that time period. No, black people were not heavily represented during WWI at all, largely due to prejudice, so don't put a black man on your front cover and pretend they weren't.
If you want to make a modern shooter where ethnic diversity is a more plausible scenario, go ahead, but not in a WWI shooter where it makes absolutely no sense. The men who fought for Germany on the western front during WWI were white, as were the overwhelming majority (like 99.999%) of allied soldiers. I am sorry if that offends oversensitive people in the 21st century who insist on everything being inclusive, but I am afraid it is simply a fact that black men were nonexistent in the German military on the western front. Facts don't care about people's feelings. A game like Verdun did it correctly. M2H and BlackMill Games made a game based on WWI and put white men in it, because that makes sense...
As a black guy who's played Battlefield since I was 12 I've always been disheartened that people see the inclusion of black ppl like myself in video games be seen as "political". Why is it a problem? We have never had an issue with playing white characters, it's just nice to be physically represented sometimes.

I think that the pack should stay on the support troops since in my preference it helps me distinguished from other troops. Such as the medic and his crutches.
Actually I just read that the Harlem Hellfighters were transferred to the French before the Muese-Argonne Offensive so maybe I'd nix the black American Scout too.
But still, I think this mod should be distributed model by model, so people can follow their own preferences.

@@jorgeckert3162 The Austro-Hungarians Army's standard issue uniform during the war was more of a blue gray color than the solid gray with red piping seen in Bf1. They also did not wear steel helmets as shown in the Russian maps which are set early on in the war, rather steel helmets were issued in 1916 afterwards to stormtroopers. Also, most of the soldiers wore puttees that matched the color of their uniform rather than high ankle black boots. Stormtroopers also didn't carry shotgun belts and from what I've researched, grenade bags were far more common. The field cap the scout wears is accurate though, minus the color and the rest of his uniform.

That's true, but there were less of them produced than women in the Russian army, far less than Indians fighting for Britain, and even African-American troops in combat roles in the U.S. army. Why would you remove everything else and keep the gaede helmet?
