Thanks to your video, I did the same to my 2012 xB and can definitely feel the difference. One trick I did was remove the carbon filter(kept it for CA smog check) inside of the top box for an extra kick. By the way, since you work for Toyota, can you find out the part numbers for the TRD brake kit and do the same by buying brake parts individually?
I dont know much about the subject, all I know is that this system allows more air into the system compared to the oem that I removed, it had more stuff hooked up to it, with the TRD system you can definitely feel the difference on acceleration.

Question: your air accelerator part that connect to the bottom of the air box is it made of plastic or rubber? Mine is made of rubber and it's not hugging/holding onto the bottom stock air box. Its loose and flimsy rather than secure and sturdy.
Everything is made out of hard rubber except for the curved tubbing that goes to the throttle body where the airflow meter connects to.watch the whole video and see how i installed mine,I didn't have any issues and all is nice and secured
Ok thanks I'll rewatch again. I think I'm missing some screws or clips where the "inlet tube" aka "air accelerator" connects to the lower air box. Thanks for replying
@@MyHighDesertGarden when you get a chance if you still have your old one could you measure the height difference between the two of them... on mine I just ripped out the carbon filter and put in K&N drop in filter and definitely noticed throttle response..... Other than that I would have to put in a real Shorr ram Cold intake or a Long ram cold intake for increased sound but at this point just cutting out the muffler and replacing it with a pipe did the trick for increased noise ... Very good Low rumble
Have you run into any worries of hydrolock? I've read that the stock and trd intake can suck in water? Makes me want to go with the k&n typhoon for that reason
To be honest I don't feel much difference 😕 but then again I'm 54 years of age and my racing days are over LOL, I'm sure it made a difference, in terms of fuel economy it didn't affect me at all,if anything I think it improved my mpg....
@@MyHighDesertGarden Like I mentioned in my earlier post, you have to remove the carbon filter underneath the filter cover to really feel the difference. That carbon filter restricts the airflow.
I don't know the correct name for every component but at the beginning of the video I show the invoice that has all the part numbers, you can pause it .

I have a 2013 10 series. Wondering whether to go with a cold air intake or short ram. My fear with cold air is water being sucked into the engine. How is the intake holding up so far?
The system has been modified, the kit that I bought came with a short intake tube (watch the beginning of the video) the older version had lots of issues sucking water right into the intake ,my daughter almost damaged her engine on her 2008 scion xb.
It appears that they made the tube shorter and it doesnt point to the ground anymore, it stays almost level at the air filter box base. I am talking about my 2011 scion xb. Is that what you have?
@@MyHighDesertGarden ok, I have a 2013. I think the only difference between 2011 and 2013 is I have the LED lights in the bumper when I turn on the headlights. So I’m thinking as long as I order the same parts from your video I should be ok. The shorter tube doesn’t pull any water into the engine correct?

brake kit? i didnt know that was available, but i will do a research on that, i know is not available oem ,because ive never heard of it.

The cold air tubing is coming from the bottom of the fender.

Its secured with two 10mm bolts
Question was the top air box any different in size than the original air box ...??

Yes the problem with that is that the intake hose was too long this one that I just bought it's a lot shorter I'm not going to have the same problem

I did not have to buy one myself ,as you can see on the video,I used the existing box ,the TRD top fitted perfectly
