We’re still in such an infancy stage in all this. Reminds me of the excitement when IBM created the PC in 1981 and as time went buy, you wanted the next issue of PC Magazine to show you that new diagnostic, hack, mod that could be done to it. Fun times!
Thanks a lot for this great helpful video, but I have a small question does this software having an action to clear all Isolation for HV system ( Like can it give a reading for all Isolated parts )
Too much complexity in cars today just to get you from point A to B. I miss the old days when things were simple and you could work on cars yourself. Came across an old timing light awhile back in my junk box, which put a smile on my face.
You've got me really interested! Great video! Thank you! Would toolbox 3 allow me to update my software? Currently updated as of Feb 2023 per my screen and April 2022 per Tesla. Service mode does not work and my car won't connect to Tesla or the Tesla app. (I don't have a working fob or card either) Good LTE signal with working browser and streaming music. Tried connecting to my 5g phone hotspot thinking that might get me a software update, but still nothing. Car sat from April's crash until September 2023. Just was able to charge HV from 32% to 86%. I think it might be easier to get the nuclear codes than to find someone who knows about and is willing to help with my Tesla! lol
Hi! Do you know how to replace the firmware on a Tesla? I have an imported Model Y that came with a Chinese firmware. I would like it replaced with a U.S. firmware so my maps would use Google Maps and my apps won't be Chinese apps. I can pay for the service.
Model s& x you need to download toolbox 2. You have more features. Vitals gives you the complete health and condition at that time. I am a Tesla writer. Very familiar with tesla
@@WarpedLab thanks for going in head first for the rest of us here. I'm interested in getting a Tesla but the Australian market is really behind, but I see the odd one around when I travel. My guess is that the right to repair and other consumer laws here don't mesh so well with the corporate imperialism. Personally I'm interested if a sort of fluid drive coupling (like in a torque converter) could be used on one of your little jets, & what sort of wheel power & efficiency can be achieved, although it's kind of like the gas turbine engines in tanks I guess.
@@dashingdave2665 I'm working on that one for a while now, to make it really well I have been missing some equipment as well as having trouble getting a hold of the power plants....
Tesla has been fighting the right repair. Apparently they are losing that battle. Good deal. Still for the average guy that's quite a bit of money for their software that doesn't even hardly work.
Absolutely.. I agree, I have been fighting with Tesla for like 4 months of this year when my car was broken down and I had no access, they were really cool they sent the technician out twice to reset my BMS counter and I also told my car to the Tesla dealer so they could reset it again, but there's no more liability then another manufacturer selling parts and having somebody drop a car on their leg.. but unfortunately a lot of things that Tesla does are kind of a work in progress.. I'm assuming that's because Elon is running multiple companies at one time and can't quite focus on one thing, also I don't think he's a car guy, if only these companies would have car guys work with their engineers they would be making the best cars on the planet.
@@WarpedLab Elon is indeed one amazing man. And he is spread very very thin. The whole Tesla concept is off the charts and is turning the car industry on its head. Come to think of it, although SpaceX is way ahead of everybody else, notice that Elon hasn't gone on a ride yet.
@@WarpedLab We all know why car guys can't work in engineering at a car company. Simple fact is, car companies won't make any money making cars for car guys by car guys. They make money off cars for people who don't know what a car is, or what they want/need. They use that money to crank out a few cool cars here and there for us, but in the grand scheme of things we (car guys and gals) don't matter to car manufacturers.
Thanks for your video. I bought the software and trying to connect to my 2020 Model Y. So far, it does not connect. I get through the first two steps, but it fails the third step and dumps me out. Anyone have any thoughts? Using an Acer laptop with Win 10. Chrome browser with the "Allow insecure content" set to allow as stated in Tesla Article #47962. Also using Chrome set to TCP/IPv4 (not 6) at the IP address given in the article mentioned above. Cannot get itto connect to the vehicle successfully? Any suggestions?
Subscription software to work on your own car is such a grift. The automotive industry really needs right to repair legislation. I’ve been running into this with Ford where they charge huge subscription fees just to be able to access service manuals for my truck. I miss being able to get a big paper manual.
Is it possible to “code” the battery size? Fx if the battery has been replaced then change the display from S85 to S90? Or remove the software limitation on the few 60ies which actually has a 75kw battery? Does the software allow you to do that?
Reminds me of the time I came across the way to check how many hours my Plasma tv had left before it went caput. “They” love to hide info from consumers.
Agree 100% especially when the software doesn't even work.. I mean how can I company take your money minimum of $333, and have absolutely no way to get support or get a refund.. I feel like as soon as the stock corrects itself everyone's going to come out and speak up
They keep on changing it from time to time but currently it's either a monthly subscription or a yearly subscription. Unless You renew it If you pay for a month you get a month and if you pay for a year you get a year then after that point if you don't need it you just don't renew it
That's a great question, I personally have never seen a DTC chart by number, normally it just gives you the whole description in the software..☹️. I will look around though in my documents and see if I can find one but I don't think I've ever seen one.
Yeah, must be a DTC chart somewhere, cause in the dealer need a diagnosis reference, we need a leak from dealer for this, and there is no wey to program key when all lost with toolbox, only the dealer version of toolbox have the option, and now in the newer version the vitals don't show the BMS isolation
From what I know I don't think it allows you to modify the height at all, only reset everything, I could be wrong but I didn't see it anywhere in that program.

The amount of interesting electronics in Tesla’s never fails to amaze me. We need someone to make a full detailed teardown video 😉

Headache solving software. What a step up from a Haynes manual. Tesla wrenchers will rejoice. 👍
