By all means learn 2 finger OPEN-A. It allows A/A7 /AMaj instantly. So it's middle finger on D string 2nd fret, ring finger B string 2nd fret. That's A7. For AMaj7 you just put your 1st finger on G string 1st fret. Now making it an A chord you just flatten that middle finger. In fact always play A like this (middle finger flattened down across 2nd fret of D & G[B okay too] strings, and ring on 2nd fret of B [might feel crowded on the B string, but you'll get used to it. It's good that you learn to flatten that middle finger because you're going to have to do it on all of your Major7 bar chords with Low E string root, as well as Major7 bar chords with D string root. The Maj7 chords are your happy jazz Muzak chords. Another tip is when you move that A chord shape as a bar chords- Bb/B/C/Db/D...bar chords, use your ring finger across all three strings. (look up " A-String 2 finger full bar chords). Now you can use your pinky to "add 4th"/"remove 4th" aka The Who Pinball Wizard

it's not really that hard ..dont over think it... it's just in G MAJOR/Emin ... I'll explain it in C Major/A min...at first ( becuase Key is just PITCH) it's mostly so you play the C maj add 9 ...against the open E then play the G maj traid ..then hammer the E note with your pinky to C maj or A min.....( then open B...C...ect It starts off..from G Maj into C maj...back to G Maj ................................................ when playing in G MAJOR/Emin At the NUT. Make the D Maj chord...with the F# below if you want... pull of the F# ( High E) ...then play the G Maj open shape back to D major chord... Pretend the 7th fret is the NUT To play that cool riff...it's just G Maj add 9.. But you'll have to BARR the 7th fret...and make the G maj add 9 with you other fingers... Play the G maj triad ( 10 fret) ROOT with your RING finger. Play the 9th with your PINKY D Maj triad ( at the 12 fret) to E min7 or G Maj
