Fortunate enough to have seen them live twice. What a force of nature they are and Siouxsie is in a league of her own. So glad I went to a ton of concerts when I was younger--Wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
seen them too I once went to a concert and recorded it , it was such a no no to do that then they would take the equipment off you , I recorded the whole concert and sold it to many people, wish I had that tape now
I wholeheartedly thank the Duffer Brothers for being cultured af and playing this timeless gem as a way to end the epic conclusion of season 4. And hello, to all veteran and young Siouxsie and the Banshees fans, you guys are fucking awesome. Long live the Queen! 🖤🦇💜
Been a fan since...forever. when watching Stranger Things with my Daughter and this song came on, she said "hey, I know that! Spellbound right? You play that right?" I was SO proud!!!
I'm glad the show brought a new generation to this music. They were not as mainstream as most 80s bands, at least not so much in the U.S. I never did watch the third season of Stranger Things, Just the first two. Anyway, no matter how you found it young or old what matters is you found it and appreciate it
When I was a teen, I would listen to ‘Face to Face’ from Batman Returns. Little did I know that it was performed by Siouxsie & the Banshees. 2 weeks before Part 2 of Stranger Things 4 came out, I listened to the Juju album all day after listening to Halloween at the end of ‘Monster House’. Coincidentally, Spellbound was one of those songs in that album 😅.
This song always gave me the chills. I never looked up its meaning, but I interpreted it as a schizophrenic hallucination in a child-tragic and horrifying. And the lyrics about the elders not saying their prayers I took to mean the abuse of those grown ups who should have been protecting the child but utterly failed at their job. The song to me is about child abuse and so terrifying, so sad. What a haunting piece of art.
Susan Janet Ballion (born 27 May 1957), known professionally as Siouxsie Sioux is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. she is now 66 years young and still looks great!
I used to belt this song at the top of my lungs riding my bike home from work. Just had to share my sentimental association since there are endless sweet stories in the comments. Mad love to anyone reading. Don’t forget!
i'm 16 and currently trying to get all my friends that like rock into siouxsie and the banshees, so far it has been very successful and i couldn't be more glad!! by the way, i'd like to add how this shows how siouxsie and the banshees don't get the recognition they deserve. a lot of teens my age are actually really into rock music from this era. bands like joy division, the smiths, the cure, slowdive, radiohead, my bloody valentine etc all have a pretty big following of ppl my age. and you'd think they know about the banshees but they don't💔
don't worry if your friends don't like it as long as you do. just be you, unique. I saw these 79 80 81. I had the piss taken outta me. now who's laughing. just be you, no one can ever take that away from you. stay safe. x
Just put on Arabian Knights in the background every now and then. It's like the biggest earworm ever and eventually they'll want to hear more. That's what happened to me...
Budgie is always overlooked as a great drummer. His percussion is such an integral part of these songs. It goes back to composition and ideas of orchestration. Boomerang, by the way, is the record where he OWNS it.
Siouxsie' voice and these lyrics are phenomenal. Budgies drumming is outstanding and not forgetting the epic guitar playing. All bring about one of the best works of pure musical art.
Sitting here, 40 odd years later, still listening/feeling this girl & the band's whole gift, they gave us all, at the time!! BOOM!! 🤘💓! Thank you girl! 🙏👏👏!

I think you're right. It was such a different vibe in the US in the '80s. It's like UK music was willing to explore darker themes and less conventional instrumentation than American pop songs of the time. People/culture was too manically happy in the US.
Look what the US did to heavy metal and punk rock. Even though punk started in the US it never became very popular here... until the abomination that was pop punk in the late 90s. And heavy metal didn't gain a ton of mainstream popularity in the US until hair metal basically made it about nothing but sex, cocaine, and partying. Thank god for Metallica.

Yes, I have to say: I have this on vinyl!
Me too!

Vinyl and CD :)
I have fond memories of giggling incessantly to this music video while on shrooms, especially when that dude jumps at 0:48
63 years of age and I just bought my first Siouxsie And The Banshees CD. it's the best of but it has all my favourites especially Israel, Christine and this one. Love it. I'm in my 20's again!! God the 80's was a great decade for Music. It was like fine dining whereas today the music is all Maccas or Hungry Jacks.....Instantly forgettable and unsatisfying!!
You have a very promising future and have restored my faith...
LOL who gives a fuck you old ass relic
The wild drumming of Budgie and Siouxsie’s singing is amazing.
Fortunate enough to have seen them live twice. What a force of nature they are and Siouxsie is in a league of her own. So glad I went to a ton of concerts when I was younger--Wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
seen them too I once went to a concert and recorded it , it was such a no no to do that then they would take the equipment off you , I recorded the whole concert and sold it to many people, wish I had that tape now
00:00 - 00:18 Such cool intro of music video, she's really gorgeous and elegant like a black cat! ☺️❤❤❤
It's a good day when a song like this is uploaded
Siouxsie And The Banshees have to be in the Hall of Fame by now!
1st time listener at 38. Just wow. Everyone stood out in this video. Even the extras.
I'm glad the show brought a new generation to this music. They were not as mainstream as most 80s bands, at least not so much in the U.S. I never did watch the third season of Stranger Things, Just the first two. Anyway, no matter how you found it young or old what matters is you found it and appreciate it
@@rnigelwales Cool!
That close up of her marvellous eye make up at 00:44 looks like the yellow, black and white layered Liquorice Allsort. Beautiful creature ⭐️

In all the best ways possible: this has to be the most out there interpretation of a song I’ve heard, but it makes a lot of sense and I like it

RIP John McGeoch. A truly brilliant guitarist.
in the top10 of all time!
So distinctive inventive and influential.
I become obsessed with the dancing moves, short eye contact, and music transition at 0:40 ...
Only Siouxsie can use yellow and make it look goth haha
strawberry switchblade?
Before goth, this is punk
Oh come on people, it was a joke 🙄
And she looks good in it too.
That's what I was thinking...the yellow...she sure was unique.
I used to belt this song at the top of my lungs riding my bike home from work. Just had to share my sentimental association since there are endless sweet stories in the comments. Mad love to anyone reading. Don’t forget!
i'm 16 and currently trying to get all my friends that like rock into siouxsie and the banshees, so far it has been very successful and i couldn't be more glad!!
by the way, i'd like to add how this shows how siouxsie and the banshees don't get the recognition they deserve. a lot of teens my age are actually really into rock music from this era. bands like joy division, the smiths, the cure, slowdive, radiohead, my bloody valentine etc all have a pretty big following of ppl my age. and you'd think they know about the banshees but they don't💔
yay!!!!
Dude same
don't worry if your friends don't like it as long as you do. just be you, unique. I saw these 79 80 81. I had the piss taken outta me. now who's laughing. just be you, no one can ever take that away from you. stay safe. x
Good on you, show them the true way forward. Respect!
Just put on Arabian Knights in the background every now and then. It's like the biggest earworm ever and eventually they'll want to hear more. That's what happened to me...
She is really something else 😍 I like her cute dancing here
Budgie is always overlooked as a great drummer. His percussion is such an integral part of these songs. It goes back to composition and ideas of orchestration. Boomerang, by the way, is the record where he OWNS it.
Boomerang is the most incredible album ever
His drumming is uniquely his and it's exquisite!
This music should never go away
Siouxsie' voice and these lyrics are phenomenal. Budgies drumming is outstanding and not forgetting the epic guitar playing. All bring about one of the best works of pure musical art.
One of the best singles released by anyone ever in my opinion.
Was my very favorite song in high school. So pleased to hear it used by the Duffer Brothers in the S4 finale! Made me feel so nostalgic!
What an amazing band. The best version of the Banshees. And Siouxsie is so beautiful here!
Siouxsie's movements are perfection
Sitting here, 40 odd years later, still listening/feeling this girl & the band's whole gift, they gave us all, at the time!! BOOM!!
🤘💓! Thank you girl! 🙏👏👏!
It was magic!
She always gives me goosebumps, she is so good.
IM IN LOVE WITH THE GUITAR PARTS IN THIS SONG !!
A fan since... Forever! And was glad this gem played at the ending credits of Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2! Perfectly synced with the end!

R.I.P. JOHN McGEOCH, absolute legend guitarist from the post punk era.

LOVE this woman! My mother introduced me to Siouxsie when I was 8 in the 90s. Never looked back! Her and Kate Bush fuckin RULE!! U.K. you truly are a special base of artists! I always love the fact they kinda invented the Naruto ninja run in this video lol.
Awesome example of how some bands in the eighties and beyond did their own style and captured pure genius whilst doing it. Thank you to the whole band for helping me grow.
Makes me miss school days! Everyone thought we were so weird listening to Siouxsie-Sioux and also The Creatures, but we never stopped listening!
Great song. I love Siouxsie's yellow dress.
Daisypetal100 me too, she looks amazing on this video. She always does but that yellow dress is fabulous. :)
Wonderful.
I've always worn yellow with black bc of Siouxie. Grrr-jiss!!!!
I remember my big sister having a similar black Dots on yellow but on a blouse. Ah, 80s.
@@idadudenmanner me too! i was 15 the first time i saw this on mtv, and was smitten by the black and yellow; i thought it was the most goth thing ever in its incongruity and went right out to find yellow eyeshadow. 51 now and occasionally break out the yellow.

This is one of the most underrated songs of the 80s. Most Americans have never even heard this song before, and that's just tragic.
Mr Shambleface - American here - i heard it at 13 and it changed my life.
Mr Shambleface American here.. I was introduced back in the mid/late 80s.. USA Night Flight , & MTV 120 Minutes.

This has got to be one of the greatest tracks ever recorded!
Hi Jack, May I kindly ask for a deeper clarification?
You mention 'tracks' but since we are at the site of the video so I just want to make sure of your meaning: Video or Song? ( they are both fantastic!) But- OMGosh. - I mean this in a friendly discussion-like way: How CAN you CHOOSE!? This song (and video are FABULOUS). but then I think, wait!- what about 'Red Light' Yea! Good! Oh, wait! Isreal! Cities in Dust! Peek-a-boo!! I'm starting to cry.. I can't.. I feel faint. where -all -albums, Doctor's # -where is It? light, fadi

"John was a loyal guy. [ ... ] I always felt safe when John was here, whatever the trouble." (Siouxsie)
