A experienced breeder once told me to be careful with the temps of the water ?i read 94? He mentioned it will feel twice as hot 🥵 to the 🐍 snake vs our hands ... cold blooded ? What our your thoughts on this ? I’m just trying to figure out my water temp for our snake as he loves a soaking occasionally as well ... in other words what feels warm to us would feel really hot to them .. he mentioned
Thanks for this video, I just got one almost a week a go and trying my best to make em happy and prepared for all the stuff that'll happen, but I don't know the gender but I believe it's male but I'll test them when they get older.
The snake was really stressed being in the water please keep in mind that bath tubs are not a good option to be bathing your bp in it can cause them stress and also please make sure the water is not that deep so the snake can feel relaxed
My snake started his shedding process about a week ago and you can see it’s beginning to come off around the face at the moment (idk how else to word it) and he didn’t eat that week. I’m worried because he hasn’t eaten this week either and I think it’s because he’s shedding. Thing is, he’s 2 months so it worries me he hasn’t eaten for two weeks since he’s so young. Do I need to worry?
@@devynmolitoris193 it was fine, but I live in Louisiana so the humidity is naturally high, so i never had to worry about a bad shed due to low humidity
Depends how often and how much you feed your snake. The more it eats the more it’ll grow the more frequently it’ll shed :) but a six month old eating a good size meal once a week I’d say once every 4-6 weeks
It really depends on a bunch of variables, age, temp, diet, etc. Draka shed once a month or more for awhile, now at almost 3yo she sheds every 3 months:)
So is the snake being hungry directly related to shedding? Or is that something you just decided to add in? Because my snake just Ate a rat pup 2 days ago and now she is in blue and her skin is dull, definitely shedding soon. But I certainly wont feed her immediately after this shed
@@skizatsreps4907 aaaahhh ok cool Haha, I've been hoping this shed goes well for my snake. I just got her from a place that did not feed her properly or keep her in appropriate climate. I could see her spine and she had stuck shed all over her.... they were feeding her mice hoppers when she should be eating rat pups... unbelievable. This is her first NEW shed since being with me. I stumbled across your page while looking for ways to help speed up the shed and make it go as smoothly as possible.

Thank You for asking, as soon as I see her eyes blued I mist her Tank to bring up the humidity, then She usually gets 1 good soak in the tub after her eyes clear. Seems to do the trick because she always sheds completely overnight :)
I recently got a ball python and she's not really eating her eyes are blue and milky I'm pretty sure she's shedding but its taking a very long Time she's only like 4 months dose it take longer for younger ones ?
I guess these so called snake experts have time to come talk shit ....everybody does stuff differently if the snakes healthy then i dont see a problem the snake deffently didnt seemed stressed in the bath kinda looked like it was having fun lol
megan holliman agreed. It’s good to bathe the snake. Removes any foul odors if it has any, hydrates the scales, allows the snake to drink. If the eyes were cloudy then yeah don’t bathe the snake it’s stressful because they can’t see. But he bathed her after the snake had shed its eye caps.
What Melli said. Its not necessary. If you have the proper humidity level or a humidity box during sheed. She should do it all at once. And if she does get stuck sheeding thats because you need more humidity.
Skizat's Reps don’t listen to them. Soaking the snake hydrates their scales, allows them to drink water, and most importantly it’s cleans the snake (proper hygiene).
Pull on dead mice/rats tail when ( constrictors only) snake has struck this way snake will coil more and become stronger in the long run. PS phythons aren't scavengers so they also enjoy a good kill and squeeze lol.
If the tank or tub setup is correct in humidity and temperature like they should be the snake would shed by itself with no help at all in once solid piece
95 is way too hot this can cause neurological problems and even be fatal. If you have to soak you ball python or other beginners snake bc it's stuck in shed you want to shoot between 80-85 degrees 83-84 is perfect and replace the water as it cools as too cool of water can cause a respritory infection. Only soak your snakes if you HAVE to.

Yeah that makes sense, with the small amount of water in the tub the temp drops quick, I end up taking her out after about 10min and its way cooler.
90 is way too hot
How long did you soak your snake in the tub
Not too long, just 5 min or so:)
Thanks for this video, I just got one almost a week a go and trying my best to make em happy and prepared for all the stuff that'll happen, but I don't know the gender but I believe it's male but I'll test them when they get older.
Smoogy Woogy If they’re young it’s easier to sex them. Their muscles aren’t as strong yet. Just go to a vet or ask a Breeder or youtube it.
I fear the quality of your breeder if he didn't know the gender of the animal he sold you...Not a good sign hope your animal didnt have parasites
Mine's eyes just blued a little. Today is feeding day, Do you think she will eat if I go and buy a mouse?
KeylorCR no
Mine ate perfectly when he had his milky eyes. I guess it just depends on the snake.
The snake was really stressed being in the water please keep in mind that bath tubs are not a good option to be bathing your bp in it can cause them stress and also please make sure the water is not that deep so the snake can feel relaxed
We've already gone over this, she loves baths and was just fine:)
She still love baths:)

It is more important that he stay hydrated at this point, make sure there is good clean water in a shallow dish for him to drink and soak in!
How often does yours shed? I got a 6 month old BP about a month ago and it hasn't shed yet
My albino ball python was a baby, maybe a month old, when I got her in December. She is now going through her first shed, so about 5 months old. 🤷
@@devynmolitoris193 thanks for responding. Mine finally shed a week ago

I want a ball python soooooo bad! You are so lucky. I would name my snake Gary Gutterbean.

Mine is named Flick
Mine is gretel

What morph is she?
She is a Single gene Enchi.
Skizat's Reps Nice! She’s beautiful btw
How can you tell the morphs and everything

Ugh, rest in peace to that legendary man. So sad he is no longer with us. He's up there wrangling snakes and catching crocs with Steve Irwin, now!🐍🐊
Me and you got the same snake
Talking would have been appreciated but thank you lol
She looks exactly the same as my snake I got bout a month ago this insane I mean exactly has the one spot on the neck on top and all.
That must be One Beautiful Snake😃

Skizat's Reps yea sure thank you, I'm going to try it just like that, hopefully I get one piece next shed

Sometimes it can take a week or two past blue eyes until they shed:) be patient:)
Is she a blade morph?
She is a single gene Enchi, I'll be uploading more videos of her soon she is getting a lot bigger:)
She's a cutie!

When the snake is in shed leave it alone! Offer it food (it might refuse) but thats it. Raise the humidity and it will be fine

mine has been dull with eye caps for like a week
Mist her and keep her water bowl fresh:)👍
No wonder my pet snake was so wrinkled i thought it was a sickness
I like snacks

You shouldn't be soaking her
Ok, explain why?
Skizat's Reps it should only be used as a last resort for a stuck shed
What Melli said. Its not necessary. If you have the proper humidity level or a humidity box during sheed. She should do it all at once. And if she does get stuck sheeding thats because you need more humidity.
That makes sense, but most Balls love a swim and bath anyway, and we babysit the whole time in very shallow water:)

So much shit for soaking my BP

Sadly the way you treated it during the whole she'd processe was beyond incorrect.
Explain?
If the tank or tub setup is correct in humidity and temperature like they should be the snake would shed by itself with no help at all in once solid piece
Yes this is true, and Draka does shed good with her setup, but she was still far from being treated incorrectly🙄
She still Loves her bath:)

You should not bathe them it does nothing and you stress the snake
