  • Welcome to Scott Ransopher’s Poetry Podcast. Where I read and discuss my poems. I’m Scott Ransopher. Today, I’ll be talking about Why. Let’s get started! In 2001, I wrote and typed Why. You can read along with me in the description.
    WHY
She arrived at the camp with a lot of fright,
To look at her surroundings was an awful sight,
    Now, encaged in barbed wire,
Would she survive or be thrown in the fire?
Would she ever be free again?
    Treated like dirt,
    Do they have no respect?
For they are all the same,
Is it the only way the Nazis have been trained?
During the night she could hear the painful screams,
    Horrified shouting,
    Suddenly it stops...
    Why?
    Have they been killed?
All they had done was stand up for their rights.
The sound of the whistle awakens the crowd,
    Time to get up,
    The lady in uniform yells.
    Another hour,
    Another day,
    Would it be the end?
    Would she die or stay?
    To witness another day.
"Why". Now on Amazon: Collected Poems Volume One 1995-2001 Kindle, paperback and hardcover. That brings us to the end of this episode! I hope Why was beneficial to you. As always, thanks for listening to Scott Ransopher’s Poetry Podcast.
