    Fantastic video, man. Been eagerly awaiting something like this for awhile. Love how concise you are while still managing to go pretty deep. Would love to see a part 2, the next level, where you explore some of the head-scratching functions that have eluded me so far - such as the adding fx to individual pads within a drum rack, or less obvious “hidden” functions activated with a shift modifier (ie, pressing shift+rec you can do a live 1st pass arrangement of clips). Again, thanks and excellent job!!!

      @@Th3rdFloor After having purchased the push 3 I would say just get a launchpad pro mk3 instead and use a laptop. mpe was my biggest buying point and I don't find it that great considering the time it takes to set up a useful scenario with it and even then it's meh..the specs of the standalone hardware aren't even good and you don't have access to VST use and such. i find the operation of the unit to be pretty confusing too it'd be way easier to just use a mouse in ableton. It's pretty big too and carrying a small laptop with an interface would be easier. i was disappointed and don't even find I'd miss any features if I just used a launchpad.

    Im planning to buy my first push controller, it really looks cool and seems like will simplify producing tracks. But it might sound dumb but i have been using a midi controller with 49 keys since past 3 years and havent had any experience in drum machines or button midis. Can someone answer my question on how do you play chords on this device? Like how do i get the piano layout so i can play notes on this? Is it a learning curve if you are coming from a traditional midi controller?

    When I’m writing a melody in clip view the only way to add a midi note is with the pads recording an overdub correct? For instance navigating with the jog wheel won’t allow me to monitor and add a note like editing midi with a mouse via ableton?

    • @metamindmusicofficial
      @metamindmusicofficial  11 місяців тому

      I think you can still pencil in notes via any of the melodic sequencer modes to create notes without having to record them in. Then you can edit them in the clip view editor. Of course if you want to record and overdub midi notes you can also do so by hitting record during playback and playing the pads.

    I still find the push 3 screen / interface disappointing especially compared to something like an MPC. Why can't it have a display that shows the actual interface of your ableton plugins rather than just a label and value? Why can't it be touch? Why can't it be bigger? In terms of plugin control it's still not that much better than a Novation SL midi controller from 20 years ago in terms of screen apart from there's colour coding.

      I can't understand why people cares so much about standalone if mostly they will work in the studio in front of a computer. I'd like better if they did a better integration with the software monitor, like maschine, than having a touchscreen that at the end of the day, will just mimic the computer/mouse workflow. Maschine as a controller is the best of both worlds, but lacks audio editing and arrangement. Neither one is great yet. They just fairly good in the lack of anything better.

  • @gabrieldonl2311
    @gabrieldonl2311 5 місяців тому

    I use it as a controller, as I use the maschine mk3, in the studio. I still prefer the maschine workflow, I'm just trying to go Push because of ableton incredible tools for audio editing and how it combines audio and midi. But for that type of creation in front of a pad based instrument, to put up an idea barely using the keyboard and mouse but still enjoying the visual facilities of a big monitor in front of you and a computer processor and big memory with the best vst's around, maschine still wins handily. I don't care about standalone, I just which maschine has that deep audio editing and arrangement of ableton (not push), or the push had the maschine workflow. The difficulty to do a simple send to a reverb bus of a single snare in a drum rack in push it's a shame, as some things in maschine it's a shame. They all do all sorts of complex stuff but their failures are always on the most basic, obvious shit.
