Unlock Your Sound: 5 Tips For Finding Your Unique Style As An Artist & Music Producer
great stuff! many thanks
Bro this video got me off on a session today, the idea of creating a template with a limited selection of good options really inspired me, ended up with a lovely template of my favourite instruments and 2 completely different tracks started that both sound pretty nice to me. Cheers
Hellz yeah brotha! Glad it sparked some major creativity 🤘
@@metamindmusicofficial 🤘🤘 keep up the good work my man!
Whoa 😮
👌👌👌
Really cool setup! Do you maybe know if there is a cue function in Ableton? I want to plug in my headphones as well as some speakers, so when I have a jam session I can play around with some idea and listen it on the headphones, while everything else is playing on the speakers (something like DJ mixers have).
100% Ableton has a cue with independent routing for wherever you want it to go!
Keep sharing your valuable tips, learning a lot from you. Thanks.
Will do. Glad it's helpful!
What I wanna know is how you got the drum kits to sound so proper together. Like the shuffle at 5:02, I cannot for the life of me get that to not sound robotic or weird sounding. Was that a chopped sample?
The shuffle feel has been easiest to achieve for me with a focus on alternating hands (like a drum kit). With a little practice you can really start to feel out the accents on the left and versus the right hand - which opens up a whole world of rhythm. As for the sounds & samples they're from a drum rack called Cycle Rack from Studio Sensei - they've been well curated. All individual samples - no chops. I think the key is to find samples that have similar drum tones & "space". i.e if your snare sample is pretty mid range focused and pretty chill overall it might not make sense to have am aggressive kick drum with a huge low end
@@metamindmusicofficial Thank you! I'm going to watch this back a few times, there's just so much good info here.

Thanks so much nice content ! iam a year in abelton push 2 this helpted me allot!
My pleasure! Glad it's been helpful.
thank you so much for this!
Happy to help!
Very well put together explanation of push3 functions. I recently purchase push3, transferred files from Ableton live and now realizing that files are missing. I need help understanding how to correct that, also how to store completed songs for live playback? Please please help thanks, Tyrone.
Another good tip is to colour code your frequencies within the DAW. Then colour code your drum parts according to those frequencies. In drum rack if you click on a pad and hold shift it will take you through to a colour page where you select colours for your different instruments. Purple for bass, red for kick, orange for snare and clap, blue for hats etc
You dropping the books made me feel like every time I open my music production resource documents folder 😅
Music theory!!!! FTW
Thank you !
What trips me the fuck out is that the C Major scale is the A Minor scale. All Major scales are Minor scales and all Minor scales are also Major scales? I've never recovered from my mind imploding when I first learned that, as you can tell.
MIND GROWN! It's a beautiful representation of polarity. Yin and Yang are both two sides of the same thing.
excellent thank you ....
Rachel Collier has some great videos on performing with Ableton Live. Her and Mary Spender also did a course.
100% Rachel Collier is awesome! She does great performances with push
This was excellent. Very appreciated. Do you have a Discord? I have a couple questions about how to control macros from one device on one track from another macro knob on another track - or any potential workarounds for that kind of functionality. I work with Elektron Overbridge, so I have multiple tracks and parameters that I can set to the macro knobs of the main group track, but when I go to, for example, play track 3 on the Syntakt which correlates to another track in that group in Ableton, I no longer have access to mapping it to a macro knob from the track with Overbridge on it (Overbridge, if you dont know, is basically just a virtual interface and routes multiple audio and midi tracks from within the Elektron device).
Halfway threw a prestigious school I can look bk and say these type of videos will make you not make moves most ppl make videos I feel are mad they didn’t go to there dream school , no one wants to learn everything on your own with a a structure , one main thing school will give you is hands on gear ⚙️, are cheap room stuff will never get close to , you will always at any age need experience on high end gear , or rent one lol or be strictly a handicap programmer , hands on celebrity studios is also a experience, this why we make music for the experience, but get its never too late go there after you like me a watch hella videos and go there and ace school , lil tip thank me later, it also put you around other artist and not just your self in studio
I got a boss 505 that puts me in this amazing limited but very creative state!! Great video!!🔥
Awesome! Keep the flow going. Glad it was helpful :)
errr.....No. Are you supported by your parents or something? It's not about 'time-management'.
wow man - been looking forward to this and you delivered big time! just ordered an mc8! =) thanks so much
Glad it was helpful! You won’t be disappointed with the mc8 🤘
@@metamindmusicofficial I haven't been able to figure out which video you refer to at the end of this one that goes more in depth into your setup because the link is not coming up over this one as I suspect it should... If you don't mind linking it, I'd appreciate it! Also qq - APC40 - you made me see the benefit of having something like this so the Push can stay in instrument mode... Is there advantage to using an APC40 specifically or would something like the APC Mini do the trick well enough?
Well done man. By far the best video on Push 3 that I have seen 🤘
doers this work on push 3 standalone ?
so it does work on Push. i just can't figure out how to record loops on the next scene with the looper. It only wants to record to the first scene. I have been copying and pasting to the next scene and then erasing the first scene.
The price is what keeps me away from it. I’ve been an Ableton user since live 8.
Can you change any instrument to chromatic mode? if so, how?
This is awesome! The exact setup I’m going for. I just started using Ableton and have a push 3 coming in a couple days. I’m a guitar player as well and have a Helix and an MC8. Would it be possible to get your template for ableton and the MC8?

You’ve addressed my main pain point with Ableton’s implementations of looping
Awesome! Glad it was helpful
Great review! Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and clear editing, which shows in real-time how to perform various functions and how efficiently one can work with Push. I am a new user, and your video really helped me get to grips with it.
Glad it was helpful!
Hey I’m enjoying your push vids. For follow actions I use follow scene by isotonik. It’s actually better than abletons follow actions. You can set the scene follow length from push and turn on whether you want the scene to loop or move to next scene on the fly. It works very well.
Is there much of a difference for editing session view audio clips or midi clips between push 2 and 3?
Incredibly good review, definitely the best one I've seen. Better buttons, expressive instrument play style. Sold on the 3
Glad it was helpful! It’s definitely a keeper 🤘
I have a push 2 and I have had it for a while now but never learned how to use it. This video is helpful. I want to start using it so I can create better music.
Glad it was helpful! It’s an amazing tool for music making
Just confirming that I enjoyed this type of content. Keep it up!
Haha thanks! I’d love to do more of these types of videos
i'm seriously considering adding push 3 standalone to my setup,,i've been on the fence for what seems like months now!...would love Meta Mind Music to do a pro's and con's video or possibly a review on his overall experience of ownership of the unit,,it would be very much appreciated!!! ,,,,,just subscribed too!!!
I did a breakdown of my thoughts in this video: Push 3 first impressions: Is it worth it? ua-cam.com/video/MvzBV7Iy-sg/v-deo.html
I've been trying to figure out how to add effects to an existing instrument and I just can't figure it out! For example adding a saturator to a synth - do I need to convert to a rack or something? Any help much appreciated 😊
You should be able to add a saturator (or any other audio effect) simply by selecting the track, hitting the + button and choosing a device 👍
fantastic resource. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Glad it was helpful!
I would rather die before going to a school for music! 😅😅😂
Honestly. I really believe that this "finish" your music hype is more a trend as a help. I really found out there is no finished track, because there is always something what you can do or could have done later. Its only in the eyes of the creator what "finished" is. In my opinion, a finished track is a myth and doesn't exist. It's a way to get depresses and lost. If you stop trying to finish a track and rather focus on "how to learn shit" then it suddenly changes, because you are now not focused on that outcome bullshit. Which never mattered in the first place. The only thing what really matters is that you 1) have fun and 2) learn to make good music that YOU like and that YOU are happy and proud of. No matter how u do it, but focusing on that and only on that. That's when results will come (AS A BYPRODUCT) The worst tracks and the worst time producing music i've literly always had when i was distracted by the idea of a " finished track". I just couldn't get my head free! Trying to finish this and that and in time! There's defenitly a smart way of working and arranging this, a lot to learn about.... but it's not believing that a finished track exists. Its all relative and its just about creating the STYLE that you like. I HOPE U GUYS ALL UNDERSTAND THAT ✌️ AND ❤
Finally i understand what that means! Well explained! Thank you! 🙏
You're very welcome!
powerful stuff,, thanks for taking the time ,
My pleasure!
Can’t find how to save a default midi track. Anyone know if this is possible?
you're the man! i regretted buying this thing for many months lol but this was an enormous help, especially the sequencer and note stuff. finally its making some sense to me

@@Th3rdFloor After having purchased the push 3 I would say just get a launchpad pro mk3 instead and use a laptop. mpe was my biggest buying point and I don't find it that great considering the time it takes to set up a useful scenario with it and even then it's meh..the specs of the standalone hardware aren't even good and you don't have access to VST use and such. i find the operation of the unit to be pretty confusing too it'd be way easier to just use a mouse in ableton. It's pretty big too and carrying a small laptop with an interface would be easier. i was disappointed and don't even find I'd miss any features if I just used a launchpad.
Got myself a used Push 2, since prices came down. And I am starting to get into it with your videos. Definitely an instrument 😃
Epic 🤘
Some great tools here! Thanks
Happy to help!
reminds me of when my head blew up trying to learn the guitar fretboard after a life spent behind the piano.
I really liked your take on this, great overview
Fantastic! Glad it was helpful
