    I've said this elsewhere, I am really impressed that Ableton chose a sustainable path for Push 3 in a consumerist world where we are expected to throw away perfectly good technology all in the name of repeating revenue. What a win for everyone.

    It's cool, I have a Push 2 and I don't really feel like it's obsolete here at all. But there are a few features that I would definitely enjoy having, and the interface functionality is a major wishlist item, if I were still schlepping Push to live gigs that would save me a TON of time.

    • @chrisliddiard725
      @chrisliddiard725 Рік тому +4

      yeah, the new prices mean the old Push won't be obsolete anytime soon. , £400 Push 2, £879 Push 3 controller, £1669 Push 3 standalone, Plus there are some niffty single board Ryzen computers on the market which could very easily be moded to turn a push 2 into a standalone ;0)

    Proper breakdown! As always the production quality here is next level. I think it has to be said that the upgrade kit feature is a game changer. This is huge.. and will possibly make this device future proof for a long time to come. Im sure that they will add some sort of arrangement view eventually and more bells and whistles over the next year. This is a very strong entry into the standalone market.

    This is super cool! I don't think I'll ever get something like this myself, but I still find it exciting to see such technology developed. :)

    on session view can you have a track loaded with an instrument/device/synth and have the clips below being the same instrument/device/synth but with different parameters? so it makes a different sound, and sequence the midi notes with the oxi one

    Can you hold down a delete button and the pad of the sound you want to erase while it's playing in real time to erase it from the clip/pattern? I want to erase notes in real time without using a grid or roll. I think you can do that with the Akai Force!

    Damn, this is just insane. I was planning on getting a Launchpad Pro to use as a standalone sequencer for my modular stuff, and owning a Push II I love the interface, but not the setup - this is incredible. I can’t afford one at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye out.

    Thanks for the amazing video! The unit looks utterly stunning, there’s no doubt about that… and I will probably upgrade to it from 2 (but I won’t bother with the SA version) my only point of confusion is why everyone is so concerned about being standalone. I don’t get what’s so bad about working with computers ! 😄 why are they fixating on stepping away from it? It’s a bloody great resource!
    I also don’t get why are ableton selling themselves short when it comes to their music production presentation. They need to get it in them that people are proud of using it as a DAW and are getting great results from it. I’m wishing for more serious DAW features and an Ableton Push “Studio” next where the unit serves the production side not the performance side 🙏🏼

    • @ElNabulsi
      @ElNabulsi Рік тому

      @Adrian Stöger that’s 100% true for some people bro and I agree with you that it does affect some of us. My issue is that they ONLY focus on that problem and remedy it while there are other things that need to be battled too do you know what I mean ? So what I’m saying is, you solved the former issue with Push 3 so it’s time to sort the latter issues for studio based folk with “Push Studio” .

  • @hopdrop908
    @hopdrop908 Рік тому

    Did they change the key mode? It had the most confusing key pad structure. It’s mostly just guess work. Buttons you don’t press light up. I thought is was 64 keys just laid out across 64 pads. Not so.

      The barrier to entry at a "convenience" level is pretty high these days. I find every youtuber just increases my standards for my setup, which is their job I guess, but man it feels bad to look at my Launchpad and know that There is something better out there that costs 10x the cost I spent, and gives me 100x the convenience of my current setup. and is 1000x out of my budget.

    • @Allan-et5ig
      @Allan-et5ig Рік тому

      @@critical3337 I doubt anything is 100X more convenient, dude. Impossible.
      Also, the hardware on this thing is older generation which to me seems a bit cynical.
      I bet the Launchpad works pretty well? Not yet used one.

      How do you reckon you're going to tackle playing a set? I'm thinking about this route, but it seems like you'd have to arrange a bunch of songs in one project and launch them as clips or something, it sounds tricky

    The most important question: Has the bug fixed in this device, when after selecting and arming a track for recording you have to press the record button twice to actually start recording(because recording doesn’t start after single press)? The bug was found about 3 years ago, and still exist in last Live’s versions.

  • @GhostOfLorelei
    @GhostOfLorelei Рік тому +1

    I literally got ride of my Akai MPC because of the lack of arrangement view... The MPE is somewhat tempting and the UI improvements are nice. But, overall I don't think, for me, that this is really a big enough improvement to tempt me from the Push 2.

    Hey Andrew. I really like your bass playing. Thanks for the informative video also = ) I wonder if Native Instruments built the controller. Seems very similar to the Maschine Jam with the colour, and the mitl-function jogwheels etc....
