The extra weight of the diesel (200lbs+), dealing with DEF, and lack of power turned me off. The gas 8 speed gives you much better crawl ratios, 7-1 vs 6-1.

Also, without looking fully at the design, that diff guard seems kinda iffy to me. Hit that thing dead on, the potential of bending it up and interfering with the driveline appears high.

    You know I get it people see 48k and think "oh god 50k for a midsize" even though you never pay msrp on these things and usually get 10k off at least if you don't just go in willing to overpay. The only trucks that are actual ripoffs are the raptors you actually have to pay 62-65 discounted only like 4 grand at most for one that equipped with the interior like a lariat. I mean don't get me wrong I think all vehicles are increasing in price so rapidly it's insane, but I find it funny people always bring up the argument "for that money just get a raptor" when the raptor is the worst one as far as price gouging you is concerned.

      Honestly, it was a necessary step. Nobody is buying cars anymore, compared to 10 years ago. Those factories were kind of doomed by we Americans. There was really no reason to keep building the card that were not selling. It's an unpopular business move, but something that was bound to happen.

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 6 років тому +4

      I'd like to start off and say I agree with you to an extent, and my Grandpa retired from GM building Corvettes in Bowling Green Kentucky after 22 years, so trust me when I say I don't like to see those people get laid off. I'd also like to add that the people getting laid off do have an option to move to other plants where GM wants to focus on more production, if we take all the vehicles they're discontinuing they sell lets say pulling a number out of my butt 100k of them a year combined, those people buying those cars (Unless they're like you, but we'll address that later) are going to come back to GM and buy another vehicle that is still offered. And what that means to these workers is GM still needs them, they just need them in a different location so they will offer them jobs at other plants to help with the increased production they'll need to make up for the loss of the vehicles and plant being discontinued. So it's not just like 14k people are out of work, I'd say GM would be glad to keep every single one of them if they're willing to relocate for work.
      2nd, kind of what the other commenter said, the cars they were making at that plant clearly weren't making them very much money, whether it was a lack of advertisement to push those cars to the market better or whatever else, they just didn't sell so if you can't sell enough to pay the bills then you need to stop before you bankrupt yourself (Because they learned that lesson once already, that's why the Government made them discontinue the Saturn line because it was making less money than it was worth). Also, the only reason they were bailed out is because GM employees (at least currently) 180,000 people www.google.com/search?q=how+many+employees+does+general+motors+have&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS695US695&oq=How+many+employees+does+General&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4.9709j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 It was either give them money so they can stay afloat or it was let 180k people go out of work devastating the economy in a lot of places, and leaving all the people with a GM made vehicle screwed as far as warranties and parts go and service. So yes we bailed them out, but they've 'made up' for it by now by keeping those people employed for the last 10 years.
      Now, we have to address people sharing your mentality of 'They're laying people off so we should boycott them' okay lets just say for fun we do that. GM lays off 14k people and then everyone stops buying GM vehicles all together and they sell 0 next year. That'd probably bankrupt them in a year or two doing that. So then they'd have to lay off 180,000 people, is that really what you want? So you'd rather 180k people be unemployed rather than 14k people that will probably be relocated to another assembly plant anyway and still have a job? I don't think that's what any of us want.
      What you should be saying instead is 'Everyone needs to go buy a new GM vehicle so that GM can afford to give those 14k people a job again so they don't have to be unemployed' And you should pay MSRP sticker price so they can afford to keep Americans employed. It'd be super dumb to have bailed GM out once and then make them go bankrupt again by boycotting their sales so then we'd have to bail them out again or let 180k people lose their jobs lol. That's just dumb.
      So, I'd like to say, stop being dumb and actually think about things for a hot second before you go spewing your dumb comments.
      Also, go buy a new Chevy Cruze or Chevy Spark,
      www.davesmith.com/new/Chevrolet/2019-Chevrolet-Cruze-ed46f6bd0a0e0aea0757e4c5492c7021.htm 15,500 out the door.
      www.davesmith.com/new/Chevrolet/2019-Chevrolet-Spark-44f583ef0a0e0a1744993496b9907b72.htm 9,500 out the door.
      Both get roughly 30-40 MPG, not sure why anyone wouldn't want one as a go around grocery getter at the least, I could literally buy the Chevy Spark for the price of about 95 tanks of gas in my truck, which is only about 29,000 miles worth, lol! If I was in the right situation I'd buy one right now because it'd pay for itself, but I'm not and I'm sad to see them go.
      I'd also like to just say, I've bought 2 trucks from GM in the past 7 months, a total of about $77,000, So, I've done my part to keep people employed, how about you?
