- For me, this surreal backpacking season begins with a little trip to my old standby, Twin Lakes. I had been nursing a foot injury for months, so I needed an easy test hike.
I really enjoy your Desolation Wilderness videos! Brings back great memories when I last hiked there in 1973. Feels like yesterday. I guess you could say I'm living vicariously with your hikes!
Hard to imagine anyone living vicariously through me, but I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.
I've watched and enjoyed all of your Desolation Wilderness videos. They're thoroughly inspiring and interesting. Your attitude towards solo backpacking resonates with my own. I hope I meet you on the trail one day. But don't worry, I'll stay out of your camp site!

I was hoping to do nothing but backpacking beginning in a week or two, but now the smoke has settled in - 2020 SUCKS!
@@SacWildlife It surely does! I've only been on 1 trip and it was jam packed in Desolation. Have a trip planned next week in eastern sierras... but... air quality so terrible. Not sure its worth risking.

Great trip. Nice that you were able to get out again. Crazy that there are so many people there this year in that wrights lake area.
I parked at the overflow lot and found empty spots at the trailhead but oh well. Trails are more crowded than ever but once you get in a few miles it gets back to normal. Glad you can get out finally!
Camped at Twin Lakes summer 2021 at your previous Twin Lakes video spot. A few good spots away from the crowds at the lake near Boomerang Lake. I saw someone even using their hammock in the few trees near by. I am going back up in late June this year, thinking I’ll give that area a go! Appreciate your videos and great suggestions.

I promised myself that I would get to Highland Lake this year - I really want to do that. Hopefully in a couple of week.

no, that's an older version of Six Moon Designs Haven - it's a cuben fiber shell over a bugnet tent. It's a pain to set up, but it's a wonderful palace once it's up.
SacWildlife great vlog and wonder this trip how many miles each trip? And I hate it knowing many people coming to this place sorry I think most of us would feel that way one way another and got it! Won’t come during weekend lol
