    “The more you train it, the better it will be” this is the key to front lever. I kept thinking about this during my 5 months long training and in the end results surfaced. Great video and great advice.

    This is an outstanding overall tutorial from start to finish....He is not claiming it is easy to achieve a perfect lever just because you are strong at pullups...What he is saying, you have a leg up over someone who is not good at pullups because pullups develop back strength and that is major part of what the lever demands....To do a perfect lever you must train core, scapular retraction, straight arms, shoulders and BACK...All must work in unison being equal in strength.....If you already have a strong foundation of back strength from pullups it will make life much easier, that's all.....Great vid man, keep up the good work!

    Really nice tuto Pilous, I like your explanation and you also give a training routine which is nice ! I've been training the front lever for 1 year now, and i'm able to hold it nice for 3-4 seconds.. so not a lot. I can't do it on a high bar because it requires more strenght to get in position, but perform it on a low bar is easier... So i try to improve my "getting in position" strengh. Do you have more routine you can share ? Any way thanks a lot for your personal video !

    • @pilous7097
      @pilous7097  7 років тому

      Hey, Thanks alot^^
      Youre rigth, its alot harder to hold a good Front lever on a high bar!
      Sure i can release some of my other FL routines, but you can just create youre own one aswell, its similar to how im creating my FL routines. Take 3 of the Top 5 Exercises and take a Rep Number between 25-50. Try completing those rep number in all three of the exercises, for the Front Lever hold you just take a Set number of 5-10 Maximum hold Sets. After youre done with that, add some Pull ups to your workout to close it off. Pull ups can be a rep number you need to reach like 50 as fast as you can. Or something like 2 Sets of Max Close grip, 2 Sets of max Wide and 2 Sets of Regular. Be free in youre creation :)

    • @lahu8965
      @lahu8965 7 років тому

      Thanks for your answer ! I created a lot of different training for the last past year :) But I'm trying to take a different approach by doing more "max hold/rep" now. I'll pick exercises in your top 5 ;-)

  • @TheRaizo101
    @TheRaizo101 7 років тому

    Awesome tutorial, really. I only disagree with one thing: having to hold the progressions for 20 seconds before moving on.
    Front Lever is not an endurance move, it's a strength one. As soon as you can hold the progressions for about 7 seconds, you should move onto the next one. Once you have reached the full FL, THEN hold it for endurance.
    This advice comes from Dominik Sky btw, makes a lot of sense.

    • @pilous7097
      @pilous7097  7 років тому

      Thanks :)
      I strongly disagree with this. If you can hold a progression for 7 seconds, it will take you much longer to get perfect form on the next progression for 7 seconds. However if you can hold a progression for 20 seconds, you will most likely be able to hold the next progression for 7 seconds with perfect form.
      Front Lever is not a strength move like a one arm pull up or a hefesto, you hold an isometric position. Therefore you need to condition your muscles to sustain this force by a certain amount of time. This falls more in power endurance than total strength. Therefore you need to train power endurance rather than strength, which leads you to around 20 seconds of hold time for each progression. With this method, once you reach a full front lever, you will be able to hold it perfect form for around 7-10 seconds (i have tried it with my clients).
      If you go with Dominik Skys method, you will reach a bad form front lever first, and then have to work your way up to perfect form, and then you have to work your way up to a 7-10 second hold.
      This advise comes from Chinas National Gymnastics Team Coach, who has around 25 years experience in training Olympic Gymnasts and has much more knowledge than Dominik Sky :)
      Ps: You can learn the front lever with either of these methods, almost all methods work, the only difference is the time it will take you to get a 10 second perfect form hold :)

    Sorry Leon I have one questions to you because I don't know I must train front lever progressions hold in one leg front lever or advanced tucked front lever ( I can hold one leg fl maximum 10 sec but in 3 set I can only 6 s * 3 set and in advanced tucked fl progressions in 1 set my maximum hold is 20 -25 s on good form but, in 3 set 15 s * 3 set ) I must choose one leg fl or advanced one leg front lever. Sorry for bad english but I have only 13 years old
