I have just picked up your channel from a long time ago when I lost my UA-cam account, you have come very far with your car man. I wish you the best man!
100lbs is not always a .1 in the 1320. Removing 💯 from a 1700lb car and removing the same weight from your 2500lb car will give different results given the same exact motor and trans is being used. 13.5 is pretty impressive for a 4 door...with cut doors and everything out you'll dip into the high 12's. Grab some cheap extra doors from pick a part, cut all 4 with lexan windows and you'll save around 160lbs there. Bumper supports, ac, ps, sound deadening, 9 pound battery, you can get your Civic to 2200.
My ef hatch weighed in at 1920lbs doing just a seat delete and bumper support delete (Granted its already a lighter car). Felt like a huge difference and to test this i raced my buddy in his 13 second automatic solstice i was always right at his back bumper prior to the delete then after the delete i was always exactly 1 car ahead. i was dumbfounded lol Either way it will make a difference and i already have the rear bumper support deleted so that helps too. Idk what it weighs yet but ima gp get it weighed soon.
@@TexasHondaChannel My first Honda I built was a 89 dx hatch full reduction only 2 seats and gutted dash, lsvtec with type r pistons, ported head and Jun 3 cams. Made 190 whp with a crappy DC header back in 1998-1999. Without a heater it was dangerous to drive when the windows fogged up, literally sticking my head out the window not to crash it. You should keep the heater just in case you want to street/strip it for safety reasons. A street car is a lot more fun than a track only. If it were my four door I would cut the back doors and lexan the rear window also. A ek hatch on average is 2,300, you should be able to get to 2,200. The hydo zc transmission is kinda rare but has a 4.4 final drive I believe that would be pretty badass for your build.
If you like the wing leave it brother, but as a 42 year old who has been racing for a while im sure the reason everyone telling you the drag wing or whatever wing you go with wont help on the track is because you got FWD right or did you convert to Awd. If your still fwd you dont need rear down force to help keep rear end planted cause your not RWD however you seem very good with cars and prob already know this, but if you like the style of it leave it brother tell the people who dont like not to put it on there car.
@@Fitguy-dq7wk Like when it comes down to it I don't know fuck all yet, I'd like to put what I've learned from others into practice myself and see what's true and what isn't.
Sounds good. Check out carspecs 0 to 60 calculator if you haven't already, its good for getting an estimated 0 to 60, because it lets you adjust hp and vehicle, weight, fwd, rd,awd options, its not as good as a draggy but its free. good luck
Shit I wish that I had you here to help me work on my Honda. People in North Carolina act like they don't even want to be friends. Lol. Maybe it's the way I look.
You shoulda had a counter in a corner of the video as every piece you took out and weighted them it would add up so we coulda seen wheres and what was the most efficient time wise n stuff to remove vs weight
Why when it comes to a gutted car it’s no longer a daily? People ride bicycles, motorcycles daily and they don’t have Ac , Noise dampening and insulation,
I think you can take off the back doors and replace them with lightweight panels. This made me think, I wonder what would happen if you could buy a "barebones car", like "barebones computer"? No interior, no heater or AC, then add components as you like. Kit built special purpose cars? If one person owns and drives a car, do they need all those seats? I wonder what the barest requirements are? How light could a frame and axles and wheels be, if they only carried what was needed? And were stronger and made light by design? Half a century ago, my friend in college took a Porsche engine, doubled its horsepower, and put it in a beach buggy frame he welded himself. That thing could climb straight up a dune. That was where I learned to drive a stick shift, so for years I shifted fast at high rpm and never gave it a thought. Friends like that, who ask nothing for themselves, and help others, are rare. But we lost track and I wonder where he went. The cost to carry all that weight, much that is not needed, gets burned up in fuel and wear on tires. What would happen if the whole world fleet of cars and trucks and vehicles was built for minimum weight and more strength, and not so much things that get sold to us in the package that we never or seldom or probably don't need? Cut the weight, you need less power, less motor weight, less transmission size, less tires and axles. Interesting problem. I wonder if anyone has offered a prize for a minimal, functional vehicle? It was fun watching this. But I would like to see someone go the whole way stripping down the weight. And also see what would be the lowest weight and best performance and lowest cost - starting from blank sheet of design paper (or computer design tools now). Do you know that people on UA-cam hardly talk to each other? It is hard to have a conversation, let alone anything serious where collaboration and sharing tools are needed. It is not really a global community, or a set of global communities - everyone helping each other. Showing videos of things is NOT the same efficiency as sharing tools, diagrams, plans, processes, software, data, models, and linking to all the needed parts and background. It is NOT hard to share globally, but few are doing it. And good ideas like, lets use less fuel in cars - kind of get pushed aside, because people do little bits and don't work together. I think all those car races they keep everything secret to get advantage and "win". But what if everyone was working on helping the human species do a better job for everyone? Not just a few individuals, but everyone? If there were a contest, you could buy the heaviest and worst car to strip the most. Interesting problem. Too bad there is nowhere to donate money to buy cars to strip. You could take junked cars, with all their parts, not functional, but all that weight, strip and weight them. You could take cars that work, strip and weigh them, and test their performance and mileage. Are there schools that teach effective design? Or is everyone rewarded for putting the most parts on cars at the highest price? Richard Collins, Director, The Internet Foundation
Did you weigh all the interior panels, carpeting, and misc stuff you removed like rear speakers? Or is that stuff lighter than it looks and not worth mentioning?
How are you liking the street savage cams? I’m thinking of using them in my high compression turbo build but I’m curious about driveability and idle quality.
Some one has been bite by a drag race “bee” 😅 no more dayli car now is speed time reaction , mans you will find out now you are your worst enemy in drag 😅 the hard ability to be always fast and constant. Good look In your new time !
Nah I’m good man. I loved the turbo setup but I like this supercharger setup too. Does it require more work to make power and faster 1/4 times yes but that instant response is amazing and not a lot of supercharged d series making a effort people give up to easy. I might twin charge but I wanna get the maximum out of the supercharger before I even attempt twin charging
Here is video of the inside being painted :)

A lightened car just has THAT feeling to it. I can't wait to make my r53 lighter yet
She getting there slowly , fingers cross on the next run we get closer to that 11sec mark. Can't wait to see the lap taps now...
I’m not expecting 11s yet but definitely want it closer

Another great video buddy and keep up the good work and hope all is well with you and your family and keep living life to the fullest
Thanks buddy and appreciate it
Great content! Gives me a lot of motivation to work on my hatch! Keep it up!
210 Count Down City checking in!
Yep, that weight reduction helps, let the haters hate. I do it to all my CRXs.
Idk why but I love driving gutted cars haha makes it more fun somehow. Keep up the good work! Car looks and runs great!
They feel faster even if they aren't. Everything hollow and vibrating lol
Spraying 5lb of bedliner id think would dry less than that due to areosal and liquid evaporation
Yes correct but i was dumbing it down for the people who think bed liner is heavier than normal Primer/Base/Clear
now time for a high comp forged bottom end and E85
That is what's on the engine stand waiting on money for more parts then its going in!
Nice you going to do a mirror delete for less wind drag.
Nah since I still drive it on the street
@@TexasHondaChannel gotcha

Some proof that you don't need a huge wing but it still helps with stability even on FWD
Depends on the setup I imagine too, maybe it worked with your ff setup better to go without
Yeah your prob, right

wow it really adds up thanks for the vid imma be doing the same with my mustang

Im going to actually.
Why when it comes to a gutted car it’s no longer a daily? People ride bicycles, motorcycles daily and they don’t have Ac , Noise dampening and insulation,
I'm gonna daily a gutted car oh well
I daily a extreme gutted ek k24 and its fine.2006 lbs with half a tank of gas

Hey I was wondering if I can remove the strip of metal that is underneath the plastic wiper cowl? Does it do anything
Can't wait until you take it down the track again
Same here man! Hopefully I have you as a ride home again if it breaks lol 😂
How much for the carpet and door panels
Not sure they are black bed liner to match the rest the interior
Texas Honda Channel let me know better then having none lol my truck also bed liner so its all good
Texas Honda Channel ill buy the whole thing
Did your suspension travel by much after the reduction ?
Not much travel difference but ima upgrade suspension soon too.

What wing is that?
Damn man no ac in texas is gonna be brutal, any idea on the curb weight?
No idea I will find out soon enough. Also won’t be a daily anymore so no worries
Should of just got a coupe lol
F who ever said the wing hurts performance...lol I GUARANTEE on or off in the 1/4 mile it will make ZERO difference.

I have the honda pilot as the daily ill be fine haha but i can still drive it daily without the a/c just gonna have to roll all the windows down LOL
Should cut the metal outta the dash everything but the steering mount ..it was 16lbs I cut ✂️ from the dash
What does it weigh?
Did u ever run 11's with this setup
Doing a transmission swap on my civic :D atx
BEAST 👻👻👻
Stop playing around with the silly supercharger. Pull the AC and slap your turbo kit back on

If u got a raw modded d16y7 civic ill buy it lmao
All you need to do now is swap an LS to make up for the weight reduction!
Nah I’m good. I like my d series lol
For every hundred pounds shades 1/10
