    ADDING CORALS TO THE 37 GALLON SALTWATER AQUARIUM!!
    In this video I’m adding corals to our 37 gallon saltwater aquarium! I purchased a total of 5 corals, we have some soft coral as well as hard coral. This is just a start to having a low tech reef tank! I’m looking forward to simplifying owning a reef tank for you all. The high tech systems are very intimidating, so I just want to show you al how easy it can be. So we’re adding some really nice corals to this tank, we’ll most likely be adding some more very soon. I hope you enjoyed this video and will hit the subscribe button and notification bell! If you liked the video, please like the video.

      Thank you! And that’s why I started with corals. A lot of “reefers” want to make it so complicated and high tech. I want to make it simple for everyone, so people can and will finally get started!

    Coming from somebody who works at Petco, don’t put that rock in your tank without dipping it. They come covered in what appear to be dried out asterina starfish on them. They aren’t terribly an issue, but will eat your coralline algae like crazy. Other then that, great video!

    • @aryandavis8560
      @aryandavis8560 3 роки тому

    I mean maybe you weren't ripped off Brody. those rock prices fluctuate like crazy. all matters on who and where the rock came from. Bought some Fiji rock. Almost pulled my hair our. Im from Fiji, born and raised. moved out here and gotta pay + $20 a pound...wtfFFF.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому

      That’s a fact, prices do vary based on where you are or where it came from. And the LFS’s gotta make their money too so it makes sense for them to buy in bulk and sell it individually. I mean, I would. Buy wholesale, sale a retail price. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m just glad I know now. Lol

  • @babyjay7066
    @babyjay7066 3 роки тому

    That base rock from Petco is basically painted concrete . Does it have the same benefits as live rock with the holes in it?

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому +2

      It’s the same rock they sell as live rock. The only difference is they have this particular dry rock sitting in a tank with established bacteria. So they can sell it as “live” but with pests.
      Live rock isn’t worth the risk. Once you put the dry rock into your tank the bacteria will colonize on and in it and it’ll be live rock.

  • @21bkking
    @21bkking 3 роки тому +1

    Nice choice on the corals! Looks a lot better with the added dry rock! I see the protein skimmer is empty. With that small of a bio load because you don't have a lot of fish waste yet and just added corals how often do you need to empty the skimmate? I was wondering if I can get away without a skimmer on a 60 gallon right after I cycle it and take it slow introducing just a couple fish to start with and then maybe 1 or 2 every month or two after the tank has been cycled for a couple months and all the water parameters are all stable and good to go.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you bro! I haven’t had to empty the skimmer at all so far.
      I think you can get by without a skimmer for a while. I only added a skimmer because I wanted corals.

    Hey I have a question I’m running a 55gal about almost 3 months now 2 beautiful clownfish in since 2weeksnrunning tank. I have some live rock in but wanna add more dry rock then some small coral frags. What light you recommend that won’t kill bank and good? Using a led 48”-54inch Aqeon from amazon. A tidal 110hob/ marine land 350hob water parameter tested every other day always good. New to hobby and help is appreciated

      What’s up bro. I’m using a light I purchased on Amazon they discontinued it but I’ll provide you with a link for and alternative. If this particular light isn’t strong enough for you or not long enough, check out the larger models.

      @@jamelmanning4462 not so much that but they will always look bad. Even when the coral grows over them the look unnatural with a round disk bottom. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому

      @JR IL I actually don’t mind the frag plugs. It makes it easy to move the corals around if I need to. And the ones that’s already growing over the frag plug I’m definitely leaving alone, I wouldn’t risk damaging the coral to remove it.
