    Adding our CLEAN UP crew to the 20 gallon SALTWATER AQUARIUM! In this video I stopped by All About Fish in Pleasant Hill, CA. We grabbed the beginning of our clean up crew. Which consists of 3 turbo snails, 3 hermit crabs, 1 small snail that was sold to me as a hermit crab, sand starfish and a fire shrimp. I also purchased 2 domino damsels. So, the reason the sand starfish, fire shrimp, snails and crabs are called the “clean up crew” is because they assist with maintenance, the snails eat unwanted algae as it grows within your tank, the hermit crabs and fire shrimp will dig through the substrate in search of uneaten fish, and the sand starfish will help keep the substrate turned over and moved around as it buries itself. The clean up crew is a wonderful addition to any saltwater aquarium, as long as you don’t have predator fish that will eat or attack them. We will be adding a couple more “tank hands” to assist me with maintenance but that will need to wait a couple weeks. So stay tuned for that.

    I was so close to goving up on having a salwater tank. There is an overwhelming amount of information online. Mostly so complicated and expensive to do. I was so sad today, but watching your videos gave me hope that it is doable. Thank you.

      It’s definitely easier than most make it seem. I wanted to show how easy it could be. I’m glad that was depicted in my videos. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I got you!

    Great video as always Cleveland. Love the big tank next to the 20 gallon, bud, that angel is majestic.
    I lost my cleanup crew in a new (5 week old) tank. The 4 fish are doing well.
    I wonder if the lower 1.023 salinity killed them off?

    The damsel fish are crazy aggressive. I read they are related to the cichlid family

    First time catching a video. Looking at this just so I understand when you buy salt water you don't need to wait to add live stock in the tank? True greenhorn at this hobby 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @brianstanky
      @brianstanky 2 роки тому +2

      You still need to wait, premade saltwater does not contain any of the beneficial bacteria, only live rock and live sand contain the beneficial bacteria, you don’t need to wait IF you have live rock and live sand

    • @mattphillips6714
      @mattphillips6714 2 роки тому

      @Chip. The bacteria in a bottle has been developed more in the saltwater hobby than the freshwater hobby to the point you have to add livestock straight away as to not kill the bacteria colony you just added. Go back into Cleveland’s catalogue of videos as he has made introductory to the saltwater hobby and a breakdown of a how to setup your first tank..

      I go to all about fish in pleasant hill every other week to get my saltwater. Lol
      I bought most of my saltwater fish from them. Including all my eels. 💪🏾💪🏾
      Bay bridge don’t really be having ish. Though I’ve bought a number of fish from them too.
      I still have the hemichromis Frempongi and Madagascar cichlid. 👍🏾

      No bro, you can set up a saltwater tank without all the fancy gadgets. HOB filter is enough for a FOWLR tank.

    I love watching your vids but if you are not going to have corals.....do you need so much water movement in the tank. I thought water movement was more to keep the corals alive rather than the fish. The clowns seem to be struggling against the flow.

    how many fish can you actually add to a 20 gallon....... just curious because i seen you added a few overtime but the store here is saying at least 5.........what are your thoughts on this cleveland?

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому +1

      To be honest bro, when I first set up this 20 gallon yrs ago, I had about 11 fish in there. Lol but I know I’d eventually would upgrade. Also I was new to the hobby… Now with all that I’ve learned I know it’s not so much about how many fish, it’s really about the types of fish you choose. I would be comfortable with adding more than 5 fish to a 20 gallon. For example:
      2 clowns
      2 bangghai cardinals
      A hawkfish
      Dottyback or royal gramma
      A goby
      Dwarf lion fish
      Valentini pufferfish
      Just to name a few…

    What's up bro I'm from Philly and I plan on getting my 37 gallon bowfront started on Friday do you think I put a lion and maybe a puffer and also should I get any water treatment for my first fill I'm extremely new to saltwater

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  2 роки тому +1

      What’s up Bro, for a 37 gallon, you can get a dwarf lion fish and a valentini pufferfish since they both stay quite small. I wouldn’t go with a regular puffer or lion fish because they get very large. For your first initial setup, I would just buy all my saltwater if possible. No water treatment needed. Just keep some RODI water on hand for evaporation.

      Hey thanks man! One more thing I just purchased a fluval 107 not sure if I should upgrade. What do you think? I would also like to place fish in the same day or do you think I should wait a day or two. Sorry for all the questions I am just a fan of your channel and your passion for saltwater
