  • Quick review of the 72" Titan Root Grapple. I have no business relation to Titan and paid for the product in full. The grapple tines were all reinforced on each side with stich weldedd gussets and cross tubes. The weld sizing appeared adquate for the intended purpose. The hose will require additional protection in several areas where they are rubbing against the tubing. The haydraulic cylinder eyes have no bushings on either side on the pins to keep the cylinder straight and some will need to be installed. Overall the grapple performs as it should and can be used to pick up logs and small brush equally as well. The grapple does not have a check valve on the system to protect against over pressue if you pick up a log that hangs out for a long distance on one side causing loading on the upper claw and hydraulic cylinders.

The root grapple has held up well with no real issues. I really did not need the root points on the bottom tines so removed them for better functionality in picking up brush piles and logs. Even with the points removed the bottom tines stick past the upper tines about three inches and make it a little cumbersome in picking up logs and brush but it is much improved as compared to the function with the points installed. The tines with the points tend to dig in to much for my use since I do not want to damage the tree roots. it is better after removing the points but when I have time will probable trim off the bottom tines even with the top.
