- Many folks are looking at different styles and makes of Grapples. We are back out harvesting firewood logs today but I focus the video in on the operation of the Homestead Implements 55" Root Grapple. See how it performs and operates on my Kubota LX2610 tractor grappling logs from forest to log pile. Hope it is helpful - Cheers!

I just ordered the 55 inch grapple from Homestead Implements about an hour ago after watching your video and reading many very good reviews I decided to order. I did notice in the video a couple logs were only being held by 1 or 2 teeth and the log did not drop showing good clamping power. I almost ordered another brand at about a thousand dollars more but decided to give this a try. Thanks for the information as it did make my decision a bit easier. Homestead Implements got at least 1 order from your video.
Good day Michael! Congrats on the new Grapple! I spoke to their engineer last week - the teeth are serrated which allows for pressure to be focused on those serrated points. I certainly have dropped a few LOL but they usually hold well I am finding. All the best and congrats again!
Thank you for the order Michael! You're going to love your 55" root grapple!
@@homesteadimplementsUSA Thank you, I am really looking forward to using it.
I will be ordering a 55 inch tomorrow, was thinking about 60 or 66 inch but thinking narrower is better for the woods
I agree with the 55 inch. I think your tractor and my tractor are pretty close in size. The 55 inch on mine works well and has plenty of clamping power. I am very pleased with my purchase and have bought a few other things since. Good luck with yours.
GP! I haven't watched you in a couple of years. You still had the b2601. Good to see you're still at it.
Good morning and thanks for dropping in Nelson. Hope all is well. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors Do you still like this grapple? I'm looking to buy this one for my L4400. There's some less expensive options on the market.
@@NelsonJ1 Absolutely - Two thumbs up for sure! Good luck with your decision. :)
Thanks Gord for the video and checking your air the front Tires .
Thanks Leo! I will. Cheers!
Hello, I have been watching your videos recently. I live in Tok Alaska and just purchased a Kubota L3560 tractor with a cab. I purchased a 74-inch snowblower, log grapple, box blade, and mid-range loader arm and bucket. Today I am going to subscribe to your channel because you are a no-bullshit man that likes to help people out with your advice and experience!
Keep up the great videos because they are helpful!
Chip from Alaska!
Last winter 2021-2022 we received 12 feet of snow and had to shovel all my roofs off!
hey good evening Chip (Raymond)! Wow - 12 feet? You should start your own UA-cam channel. Honest! Thank you so very much for the kind note. I am glad you enjoy it and thanks very much for your support. Wish you and your family all the best!
Been using your videos to help convince my wife why I need a sub-compact tractor! Thanks much!!
I've bought two implements from Homestead and have been very happy with them and their customer service.
Thanks, Mr. P . Cheers
Cheers Ernest!
That trailer and Grabble make for a really good pair. The guys secretly open their mouths wide as the grapple opens wide. It comes with feeding their little tots.
LOL!! Cheers Bay!
Look great GP, I have had the 60" on my Mahindra 2538 for a year now and have had no issues!!!! Rocks, stump, branches you name it without an issue. Very impressed with mine and I am sure you will also get many years out of yours too. Dave
This 'Homestead Implements' grapple looks to be well engineered and built. Nice to see good products out there that should do the job, as we say.
Thanks for this Gord!
Good morning Reg!
Looks like you've got your method dialed in pretty good to me Gord!
Hey good evening Chris!
I like that load of firewood. I think that the design of the new grapple makes it a little more challenging to cherry-pick logs in comparison to your old grapple but I can see it being better at other things. Have a great day!
Grapple one of my favorite attachments
I have this grapple and I absolutely love it.
I will definitely look into this one when the time comes for me to order a grapple GP. Looks to be a superb unit. Thanks for the video.
Cheers T!
You'll master the grapple too, like you said , takes time to learn how it moves. You have the forest looking good around there with you and the rest of the crew it will be great. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Good evening Fred! It's that time again - leaves are already falling and temps are getting cooler - much better for working outside. Hope you and your family are keeping well!
Great video!! Looks like you're mastering the grapple quite well!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David!
Great video Gord. It takes a lot of patience working with that grapple but better than handling all those logs. Take care and stay safe.
Cheers Mike! Will take a bit of practice for sure.
A grapple is on my list of implements for my tractor. One of these days... 🙂
GP your learning curve looks like a short one with this attachment. Great job!!!
Hello GP, that Homestead grapple sure appears to be a bit more stout and versatile than your original grapple. Looks the be a great addition to your attachment arsenal. Cheers.
Nice teamwork
Gord, your absolutely correct, Amazing difference between our Titan double and the new single, yours definitely would have an advantage in a lot of situations, Take Care and Stay Safe 🚜👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
Nice!!
With all the stumps you are navigating through I am beginning to think its time to look into a stump grinder attachment. New Tool (new toy) & New Content. PS. As always a joy to watch.
I can’t wait to see more videos with this grapple. This company is only an hour from me. I’m still waiting in my third function kit to ship from Kubota.
GP, your tractor/loader look brand new... What do you use to clean the grime, grease, and soot off?
GP, one the hardest jobs with a grapple as yours is picking off the top of a log pile, ESPECIALLY when they're on the trailer. The Jaws open really wide, but that's a good thing. Ya might not be able to...'pick' but if you can use the grapple as you would like the bucket, get under the bottom log and with the jaws fully open, lift and curl, any logs on top may roll but you'll be protected by the jaws. After ,or IF the logs rolls into the grapple, then you could close the jaws. May not work when they're on a trailer as well as if the logs were laying on some cribbing on the ground. Good video,
.... putting yourself out there GP, I'm sure everyone will have SOME kinda comments. Mine is just a suggestion. Like you said,...
Learning curve. It's all good!
Evening John! I'll give that a try. LOL Yup, I always do - good community and helpful suggestions. Have a good one and thanks!
Nice video GP.
Morning Rick! Have a wonderful week
Yes, grapples are wonderful things, still getting used to mine! Also getting used to a new flail mower! Sucked up an old mattress that someone dumped into the woods years ago…. Not any fun…
Oh geez Bob - imagine that took some time and a lot of patience - hopefully no major costs or fixes.
Great video GP!
How much longer before “GP5” is accepted on the homestead implements site? Lol, thanks for the video
Hey GP,
Maybe I missed it, but did you consider the Land Pride grapple?
Thanks Gord, another great video. I am in the market for a grapple for my forest property. Which do you prefer the Homestead 55" or the HLA 60" Thanks!
How does it compare with your old grapple.
Nice job GP. I'm curious to learn how you feel about the teeth of the grapple not meeting together, i.e. is it a big deal or not? (When you get around to it, no rush!😁) 👨🚒
Morning DA! Not sure yet - still learning - it appears I need to change my angle of approach so to speak ( from what I used to do) so still need to use it for a while yet to determine but very good well built implement for sure. Have a good one!
Hey Gord! How well do you feel the grapple world have matched up with the old B2601? I have been debating between the Pinnacle or the lighter Independence Grapple for my B2601. I have definitely settled on Homestead but would like to hear your thoughts if you think it would match up well with the B2601 or if I should go with the lighter Homestead Independence.
Which third function valve did you go with?
I had the dealer install it - it is OEM from Kubota (Landpride). Not sure which name it is under. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors I think which model of Kubota you get for their OEM third function. Some come from Land pride and Kubota mfg. They are all in the same family. I guess it may just be based on product capabilities. We got the OEM on our Grand L 3560 and really like the power on it. Frankly, it may be too powerful, but still on the learning curve. LOL 😆
It looks like it's not so good on logs? Probably good for what it's intended for, just not so much with log work.
Hi Gord... It's looking like you need two grapples, one for in the bush heavy duty and a light duty less thick tines so you can see to grab off the trailer. Just saying..
LOL! Morning BJ!
Hi GP where are your iso toons? Cheers
In my daughter's handbag again. LOL! I think I'll be buying her a pair soon. I love that they borrow my stuff and wear my clothes but they have a hard tie putting them back where they found them. :) Cheers Sam!
Aww the love of kids. Yea you got to love it cheers.
GP, looks like you might have a harder time bending up those teeth, it looks like a pretty stout unit.. whats the price point ?
$2400
