Oh yeah totally and I’m glad you are addressing this! While repairing my relationship with food I’m finding myself intermittently getting worried that the choices Im making are falling back into dieting/restriction and ultimately disordered eating. But then I remember there is a place for all foods in a healthy diet and I’m honouring my body by goin with whatever feels good.
A lot of the time that’s a good salad and smoothie. Sometimes it’s fried chicken. Balance.
So much of my food journey is becoming about catching my thoughts and judgements about it all.

    THIS! 👏🏻
I am type 1 diabetic because of that I have had “diets” forced upon me since I was 12. Constantly being told “you can’t eat this you can’t eat that” I have never been overweight in my life, I was severely underweight prior to diagnosis because type 1 is an autoimmune disease not a metabolic disease (like type 2)
I developed an eating disorder. And no one noticed. No one at work. None of my friends. Oh the diabetic isn’t eating, that’s not an issue. But if I was eating pasta thats a problem and everyone says so. If I was consuming sugar (because my sugar was LOW) I would be told by people I worked with “thats why you have diabetes”
So I developed an eating disorder. Its taken me a long time to reach the point where I eat whatever my body needs at the time. And a lot of times thats vegetables because I love them and they make me FEEL good.
And unfortunately for me because I have an autoimmune disease and am under severe stress in my life the past few years I am gaining weight rapidly despite eating super healthy.
And its sad because I feel pressure to lose the weight because every person on this planet makes jokes about diabetics being fat.

salad is so yummy and when i eat it people are like “ ooh are you trying to eat healthy” or “gurl your already sk!nny you don’t need to eat salad” and it’s like please let me and my body eat in peace😃 and i hate how people comment on others eating habits and bodies like is that really the most interesting thing we can talk about and it causes real issues to make fun of someone’s eating habits

Amber doing all the appointments and checklist items quickly and thinking that will show the doctor she is ready for wls has the same energy as patients on my 600lb life not following the diet or exercise plan but moving to Houston anyway thinking that will force Dr Now to approve them for wls. He doesn’t play that game.

Sometimes I just eat a PILE of broccoli and egg cuz I have a desire for that greenness and simplicity in flavour. I’m a cook something new and exciting every day kinda gal but sometimes just feed that craving

I eat once a day & it’s a lot of 😱 salad!! I’m sure Abby would call that an eating disorder but it’s what works for my nerve damage.
I used to find these videos annoying but I can empathize w/ Liz after watching the ED experts cult pontificate over stuff that at the end of the day is just stuff that gets them through till tomorrow and it does not work for everyone.

Yeah you preach that but judge people who DECIDE to fast or skip a meal, not because their eating is disordered, but because they want to feel their best.

I’m trying today and the last several days not to feel guilty and that I’m going to gain weight because I’m hungry and eating 2 meals a day instead of 1. I’ve been intermittent fasting for a long time and I don’t know why I’m hungry at 12 pm or 1 pm. I’m 48 at the end of the month. I wonder if it’s menopause.

Sometimes I have grapes and carrots for dessert, sometimes I have ice cream and a piece of cheese for lunch. The body wants what it wants.
