Is anyone using a spray on bedliner type idea to coat a pool surface versus using a liner? I have seen some impressive looking spray on products in videos, waterproof and strong. The ones I am talking of cure in a few seconds.
It’ll last right up until the time that it doesn’t. It all depends on how the pool is taken care of and whether you “condition” the liner each year after drain down for cleaning or maintenance. A good conditioner we use is similar to a wax that’s used on vinyl wrap. It helps restore the flexible properties to the liner that’s so crucial to its ability to remain in use.
That’s a 20x40, kit is 19k and change, another 10-12 will get it dug out and concrete and pipe, liner is 3k, retail on this pool is 70+, so you can easily save half if you diy with our kits!
Hi, thanks for the video, great job. Just 2 things I never seen, the floor pipe install and how did you remove the liner wrinkles in the corners? Please show it in you next ICF video. Thanks
Is that a fabric type of material your using as padding under the liner? Back in the late 1980’s we started using 1/8 inch closed cell foam on the shallow end of the pools basically for the comfort factor(we build a 10” concrete wall with a 3,500 psi pea stone mix poured pool bottom)We had problems with the liner sliding/wrinkling because of the foam padding on the floor so we stopped using it after 2 seasons.
I really like the idea of using ICF for a pool. Question: I wonder if you could put floor heating like one can put in a garage, and connect to a water heater, or if direct water heating works better? Just a thought...
I’m thinking thermally breaking the floor with foam and putting the btus directly into the water via gas heater will work the best, once the water warms the floor it’s the same effect and it’s gotta be a more efficient transfer…. Not positive but that’s where my heads at
Why no insulation under the slab? If you have a heater you’d loose a lot of heat thru the bottom by thermal conduction. The walls are super insulated. Could you heat it easier at this point with in floor radiant tubing? Nice job!
Thanks! The customer ultimately makes that decision, on the entry level pools when they are positive they don’t want to hear in the future is an easy way to save several hundred dollars... we absolutely recommend it though, one I’m building right now with pretty steep slopes is getting closed cell spray foam installed early next week!
I know almost nothing about pools. Never had one. Just wildly imagining electricity for heating with fall and spring could be: $200/mo x 12 mo x 10 yrs is $24k.
You're looking upwards of 45. Understand the materials are expensive, safety is expensive, and an expert who is licensed and insured is going to cost. Look at value not cost of what a nice pool adds to even a home.
@@blakeanderson1214 you wanna talk a contracted price or DIY? Contracted price could be whatever the market would bare. I take the video as showing the benefits of the IFC.install, as well as DIY-ability (just so you know, I was CA licensed with both A & B classifications). It's a simple sloped rectangular dig, gravel base, Fresno slab, simple stacked walls, poly steps, gravel backfill, pvc plumbing, foam pad, broom finished deck with cantilever, pentagram intellifli with online salt. First, remove the added decking from the pool cost to get cost of pool. Then, even if you dub out the ex and concrete placement, if you're at 25-35k, you'd better be on the high side of things as a DIY.
Interesting video. …however the bare feet would have you up to your eyeballs in workplace safety fines here. Every worker would be forking out a mortgage payment…..yikes.
Are there plans for something like this or a “kit” that I could buy. I see you linked to several of the components but where do I get the panels and the liner? Not sure about the plumbing either. It looks doable for a diner like myself but I feel like I’m missing more details. Great vid by the way.
I can give you a detailed material list for icf and white goods in addition to the links I provided…. That said, the channel is growing fast, too fast for me to keep up at the moment, so stay tuned and this fall I may team up with fox and Pentair and launch a site specifically for icf pools!
If you build it a lot beefier you can plaster it like Gunite with the extra step of firming up the foam, there are multiple methods…. We are in the process of rolling out ecofinish for our high end pools in our market
Yes, there is rebar in the thickened footers and it passed bonding inspection, then they do another one on wall rebar bonding, then another on decking within 5’ of the edge, passed all 3, I’ll try to show it in future vids, just try to keep vids reasonable length
In most municipalities yes, you can go get a meter from the utility provider who provides water to the system and you pay for what you use…. Fastest and cheapest way by far, unless you have your own well, that’s cheaper but takes a day or two…
Great video, did I miss vertical rebar installation into the slab or do the walls depend on a perfectly compacted back fill to maintain their rigidity?
With no rebar in the slab I am guessing there is no rebar anchoring the walls to the floor. I think what you see sticking up out of the ICF is the plastic structure that holds the two ICF walls in place .
Great stuff liquid nails pro cans, and tec screws Every few inches hanging up into the concrete so it never separates from the concrete, the foam holds great but the screws make sure it bonds in the mud
Hi. I am curious if I might be able to connect with you on the vinyl sourcing and how you work create for a loner to work. I also have a few plumbing questions. Love the videos. Can I email you direct?
Just curious why no one uses a low voltage light for the underwater pool light. perhaps no one has even thought of doing that. Seems to make sense since water and electricity don’t mix well if something leaks
The microbrites are, and we are switching to them whenever applicable, you need a lot more of them, but our motivation is that they seal the water out of the niche and conduit, I’ve had 25 on order for months and received 4…. It’s a weird world
I’ve never thought of energy saving potential for an ICF pool. How much would you say is saved vs a steel/vinyl liner pool when heating? Northern climate.
I don’t have imperial data from personal pools I’ve built but hopefully after this winter I will…. The one we hooked up before last winter, which was ridiculously cold in mo, seemed like it was heating for about a third of a comparable Gunite…. But their gas was running their house and pool so hard to be sure, but the entire bill was half of what a comparable Gunite pool was costing

Back in the late 1980’s we started using 1/8 inch closed cell foam on the shallow end of the pools basically for the comfort factor(we build a 10” concrete wall with a 3,500 psi pea stone mix poured pool bottom)We had problems with the liner sliding/wrinkling because of the foam padding on the floor so we stopped using it after 2 seasons.
pull in the light after the liner
How much in material for this pool? Love to do one some day.
We sell a kit for a pool just like that for about 19k, everything but pipe and concrete
How much does this type set up cost I am thinking about getting one done but my quotes seem crazy high 🤔
With labor this pool is probably 50k, if you had the know how and time the materials are probably half that
Thanks, guys: GREAT JOB!
You're looking upwards of 45. Understand the materials are expensive, safety is expensive, and an expert who is licensed and insured is going to cost. Look at value not cost of what a nice pool adds to even a home.
What’s the cost for something like this?
Answering another commenter, he said around 50K
Call Bullshit on your 50k, unless he used titanium aggregate in the concrete! 😆🤦🏼♂️
@@lancekeirn6243 so, what do feel the price should be???…
@@blakeanderson1214 you wanna talk a contracted price or DIY?
@@lancekeirn6243 got ya. That price(25-30) was more where I was thinking. Now, I just need to hire someone @that price
Dowels? Vertical re bar tying the wall to slab/footing?
Looked like a cold joint to me. Didn't see anything tying the walls to the floor.
What is the cost?
When do u backfill after how many days and go u use helix instead of rebar ???
Nice video! What are the approximate costs for such a pool
With and without insulation?
DIY low 30’s, turnkey 80+
7:10….are those OSHA approved steel toes?
What about the stepladder @ 12:05? HAHA
Interesting video. …however the bare feet would have you up to your eyeballs in workplace safety fines here. Every worker would be forking out a mortgage payment…..yikes.
Hi! Where can i get the kit?
Fill out the form on icfguru.com and we’ll send you a custom quote, be sure to send us your address so we can accurately quote freight!
Can this be finished with something different than a liner?
If you build it a lot beefier you can plaster it like Gunite with the extra step of firming up the foam, there are multiple methods…. We are in the process of rolling out ecofinish for our high end pools in our market
@@all3pools awesome! Thank you 😇
Have u ever did the stairs in icf????
Nope
how did you mount the skin , what other product can you use to avoid liner dents
Liquid nails foam and tape, only has to hold until liner goes in, then pressure of water holds it from moving!
Did at any point to “so cheap” price come up?
?
So how much does something like this range from
Probably 55k + depending on amenities
I didn’t see any rebar or bonding. Do you add rebar in your concrete?
Yes, there is rebar in the thickened footers and it passed bonding inspection, then they do another one on wall rebar bonding, then another on decking within 5’ of the edge, passed all 3, I’ll try to show it in future vids, just try to keep vids reasonable length
Fire hydrant? Can you do that?
In most municipalities yes, you can go get a meter from the utility provider who provides water to the system and you pay for what you use…. Fastest and cheapest way by far, unless you have your own well, that’s cheaper but takes a day or two…
How does a robot handle the 90° corners? I guess you need to brush them?
Great video, did I miss vertical rebar installation into the slab or do the walls depend on a perfectly compacted back fill to maintain their rigidity?
Yes, we all missed it...goes from 2:11 with dirt walls to 2:12 with the complete wall setup and skips the entire installation process.
With no rebar in the slab I am guessing there is no rebar anchoring the walls to the floor. I think what you see sticking up out of the ICF is the plastic structure that holds the two ICF walls in place .
What states do you do installs in?
How did you attach coping
Great stuff liquid nails pro cans, and tec screws Every few inches hanging up into the concrete so it never separates from the concrete, the foam holds great but the screws make sure it bonds in the mud
What state are you in?
Mighty MO
Hi. I am curious if I might be able to connect with you on the vinyl sourcing and how you work create for a loner to work. I also have a few plumbing questions. Love the videos. Can I email you direct?
Do those pools have a deep end
That one is 4’ to 6’, but you can make the bottoms so whatever you want!
A “little bit ago” looks good
Just curious why no one uses a low voltage light for the underwater pool light. perhaps no one has even thought of doing that.
@@all3pools Thanks
@@all3pools The common method here is the steel structure with a vinyl liner. Outdoor pools aren't operational outside of mid-May to September. We have hot summers and cold winters.
You can save around 80% by insulating. 14x28 pools used to cost £200 and take 5 days to heat up, 20x40 pool cost £20 and heat up overnight.
What about the light fixture?
It’s at the end of the video?
@@all3pools umm. you watching the same video? You never go back to the light fixture after you start the liner..
Ya no…. Just posted a new vid with more detail today, so I figured that was the one you saw…. I’m using mostly microbrites instead of intellibrites now so not exactly the same, but most of the seals on liner penetrations are similar!
@@all3pools Ahh ok. Thank you
What did this project cost to complete?
60ish
Kit for the same is about 20
