  • In this video i go in depth to answer a lot of the questions many of you have had about the way a vinyl liner goes in from an installation perspective, i show up close hanging the liner and every gasket and seal on this simple liner pool. Vinyl Liners get mixed reviews on here because certain areas of the country are used to other types of pools, fiberglass, gunite ect... but while we do build ultra high end pools that are better than gunite in our opinion, youll have a hard time beating the value of a vinyl liner for the more basic designs, they hit a price point that other in ground pools just can't, and if you are inclined to attempt a pool DIY, liners are for sure the most forgiving type of pool with the largest margin of error. cheers!

    Thanks for the videos man. I'm a pool contractor and we are talking to fox blocks now after watching your videos. We are already true grid dealers and didn't know airlite owns both brands. Super excited to build our first one soon. Thanks for all the info and hope we have all we need for the first!

    Local 417! Love it. Quick question...assuming vinyl and these type stairs are a little more budget friendly on the front end. Is starting with a vinyl liner on an ICF pool and then 7-10 years later transitioning to a more permant/solid finish doable? EcoFinish, gunite, etc. We're 100% doing one of these next year and thinking of doing vinyl on the front end to save some money early on... PRAY some of your kits are ready soon! We've used Rost before too...good folks!

    Do you use radius corner blocks or 90's? We will be installing the liner in our first ICF liner pool mid-September. On this pool, we used radius corners because we were under the impression that he liner would install better. Getting radius corners is more expensive than 90's so wondering if its necessary.

    • @cuttingedgehomes9251
      @cuttingedgehomes9251  3 роки тому

      You can do hard 90’s, 6”, 12”, or 24” radii commonly for vinyl liners, for 6” you simply use normal 90’s and they sell you a foam chamfer strip that backs the liner a bit!

  • @mattt9502
    @mattt9502 3 роки тому +1

    Great videos! I see you put a small radius in the corners of this one. What did you use for that?

    • @cuttingedgehomes9251
      @cuttingedgehomes9251  3 роки тому

      The liner tracks either come bent or notched, then we usually use a foam chamfer strip but like everything else they are out of stock so we used mortar and a 4” elbow to shape it lol, then covered it with liner foam, worked well but the chamfer is easier, ready for shortages to be rare again!

    Does it fix itself when all the water get into the pool?

    • @btshep
      @btshep Рік тому

      My eyes went right to that as well and that would not fly with me either. ironically he mentions to be carful with the cuts cause you don't wanna have to buy a new liner at your expense for botching the install. right when those first cuts and the screws went in around the perimeter of the stairs the liner was botched right than and there cause the border is crooked and slopes down . it was not pulled taunt enough in the void of the stairs where there is no where to hook the bead and he did catch it. if this was my pool I would be demanding a new liner be ordered asap. and would be livid knowing how long I need to wait again for the new to be made and delivered

    What is the price comparison between a vinyl liner vs an Eco coating? ( apologize if I misused Eco term)

    • @cuttingedgehomes9251
      @cuttingedgehomes9251  2 роки тому

      It’s significantly different, not just the finish, the structure of the pool needs to be far more robust for ecofinish, a monopour icf shell, Gunite she’ll or fiberglass shell is necessary, vinyl liners can hold up with far less structure as the liner itself does the work…. So it’s usually at least double the cost all told

    • @ToddBizCoach
      @ToddBizCoach 2 роки тому

      @@cuttingedgehomes9251 To clarify, which is twice the cost, ecofinish or vinyl liner? Why would one want a pool at twice the cost vs the other?

  • @michellemacneil9176

    Could the bottom of the pool be made of 4 inches of structural polystyrene? Followed by the liner on top.

    • @michellemacneil9176
      @michellemacneil9176 2 роки тому

      Lol. I see your point. I was going to go with a sand or grout bottom. With polystyrene under the sand. But someone mentioned to me that I don't need sand or grout on top of the polystyrene. Is this correct?

    • @bden29
      @bden29 2 роки тому +1

      no but polystyrene or xps is definitely cheaper than concrete and the labor to install concrete. plus you wouldn't need skilled labor to lay foam slabs down. Michelle, you would probably need those poly sheets that he put on the icf walls to prevent impact damage.
