Wow, thank you-finally someone with actual common sense. I suffer with cluster headaches, waking up at 4 AM every morning for the past 14 years. I can’t even begin to tell you how many neurologists I’ve seen over the years who must think I am insane when I tell them what my symptoms are. Few have told me to meditate, and pretty much, it was all in my mind.
You have my sympathies and it's not all in your mind. I have been waking in the middle of the night during REM while dreaming for years. I have been on numerous medications, saw a few neurologists, a sleep therapist, did a sleep study and got a CPAP machine and none of those have helped. I have also received the same advice as you.about relaxing and changing my sleep environment. I've been walking around exhausted all of this time. I wish you luck!
Thank you so much for this great info! I don't feel like I am alone in my suffering anymore. Mine wake me up, horrible pain with the worse nausea I have ever had. To the point of dry heaving with my head feeling like it will split in two or explode. I have literally woken up, sat up in bed and threw up in my hands before! Started about 4 years ago for me. I talked to my doctor and I will try the "cup of coffee" treatment first. That and trying to keep my stress in check... easier said than done in 2022!! Take care!
I get Hypnic headaches daily.. They wake me up just like you mentioned.. I may take a nap in the afternoon because I lose sleep and will again wake up with a headache. I drink coffee to get rid of the headaches, also if severe enough, I will get up and walk my neighborhood which has some hills, and that will help... My headaches may last up to nine hours. This has been going on for 20 years
I was diagnosed with Hypnic headache by a neurologist who prescribed atenolol. It made me feel groggy and also, since I already have low blood pressure it concerned me to be taking a blood pressure med. I’ve since weaned myself off it. Ironically, the better and more deeply I sleep, the more likely I am to wake with a headache. I used to go to sleep at 10:00 or earlier. Now I try to make it to 11:00 so that if I get a headache it’ll be closer to when I wake up anyway. I’ve had fewer headaches! I also shut off screens by 8:00pm, take an easy walk with the dog or do a gentle yoga practice, maybe do a simple rhythmic task like sweep the kitchen floor. I sleep with earplugs and a sleep mask, but I didn’t know that skin absorbs light. Thank you for this video! It’s a refreshing change from doctors who immediately want to throw pills at a problem instead of treating it holistically.
Hugely helpful. Thankyou so much. I've been woken every night for just over 5 yrs with severely painful headaches which don't go until morning (and sometimes not then). Been to so many neurologists, had brain scans and disinterested doctors until today. Two things happened. I Googled and found hypnic headaches which matched my symptoms and told my gp I was suicidal from lack of sleep and the pain in my head. Now I'm trying some meds but will also taking your advice on board. Some light at the end of this long, dark tunnel I hope. Thankyou again.
Really helpful Thank You! ☺️ I have also noticed that some food allergies can interfere with this also! So maybe a food allergy test will help individuals realise there could be something as simple as what they are eating in there last meal of the day! I went keto for a while, had bad sleep then realised i needed a small amount of carbs to help me sleep! It’s a minefield for every individual as we are or all he same…..you really ave to be so in the with your own body! A food diary would possibly help some of you struggling! 🤗
@@ladyjane6846 i have gotten used to it. I sleep fine now. Try drinking it a little earlier and see what happens. It's good to know we that suffer are not doing this alone. Good luck to you
I get headaches most nights between 1-4. I wake up with them. Quite a few years now. Mostly left side. I was prediabetic but turned that around in about 6 months, so no longer an insulin issue. I still get them and dont seem to go away by themselves. A cup of black tea with milk and a teaspoon of raw honey shifts them within 10 minutes in the morning. And yes, I have come to realise it's a large intestinal issue and linked to circadian rhythm. I need to make sure my last meal of the day is before 4pm, so that it does not interfere with my circadian rhythm, which otherwise energises me too much, rather than induce sleepiness for a good nights sleep. Thanks for the video, it was very good.
I m just 16 and i remember the day i had coke 5 times a day bcoz it was an occasion!(i personally never drink coffee or tea).....and now after caffeine withdrawal suddenly, i am having these pressurized headaches from last 6 dayss...and this formula of switching hormones spiking time is so coollll! Literally i was scrolling and i clicked this video by mistake and i cancelled it than i again clicked it and i m obsessed with this information...... THANKS 😊 DOCTOR 🌟✨✨
I am a 72-year-old male and have been stressed for about 6 months; that is when these horrid headaches started. A deep throbbing in the back of my head to one side that would wake me up after I fell into a deep sleep. This happened throughout the night. I tried one cup of tea at bedtime, roughly 50 ML of caffeine. Headaches have not returned.
i got relief from drinking coffee.. i would wake with headach every night at about 1am.. and it would go away on my bikeride to work at 5am.. i was fed up with waking with a headache nearly every day.so i drink a cup of coffee before bed
I had a really small amount of coffee last night and while I didn’t get a headache, yay! I also didn’t sleep well which then turned into a headache later. I’m going to keep playing with it though, I might be able to tweak it to get it to work. Are you still finding relief?
I want to try this but afraid the caffeine will keep me up. It can keep me up if I drink it too late in the day so I don't do that I couldn't imagine what it would do right before bed 🤔😆
Thank you. This helps a lot. Im having hadache on n off for 4 or 5 months already. I am hypertive n on amlodepine 10mg. Sugar still within normal limit Usually it woke me up between 12mn to 2am. My headache at the back of my head n throbbing. When this happens, i checked my BP n its always normal. Problem is when i woke up i couldnt go back to sleep again so sleep hours for me is 4 to 5hours daily. Im gonna try your suggestions and get back to you again. God bless
Hi it's really good information 👍 I have headache one sided mostly on right side very rare on left side and its since 1 month. It's some times around 1o clock and It sometimes wake me up around 3 or 4. It feels sharp nerve pain which is on one side from temple to jaw. It's last abt 2 to 3 hrs or more sometimes. I also noticed there is blood sugar levels not in control.
Several hospital websites (e.g., mayo clinic) that discuss hypnic headaches actually recommend caffeinated coffee before bed to alleviate hypnic headaches. Seems to contradict your position of not have coffee before bed.
As soon as I get in bed to sleep feels like my frontal Cortex starts to go haywire and right after I fall at sleep I’ll wake up with a headache which also comes with pretty bad anxiety and that’s it I can’t fall a sleep
Can neurotransmitters come into play with these type migraines? I read around the 4:00 mark things happen with neurotransmitters like when serotonin drops adrenaline rises and can cause migraines. Also can LOW cortisol cause these migraines?
A lot of information I’ve read the past couple of days on this type of headache, uncontrolled blood pressure (me) and also connected to REM sleep and this may lead to Parkinson’s Disease.. goodness 🤦🏻♀️😊
That may be a stretch as I do not believe the research is that conclusive but we can make incredible strides in managing risk factors like blood pressure and sleep to live healthier and happier lives and everyone should do so
I’m 16 I been have this Hypnos for 2day now I don’t know if it will last forever it really painfull it happens on the right side it last for 30mm -2-3 hour

Caffeine is sometimes recommended before sleep for hypnic headaches
Lots of things are recommended, doesn't mean they are fixing problems
I drink coffee to get rid of the headaches as well.. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...
