This is an absolutely artful video. There are many things that I would love to shout out, but the two that kept popping in my mind were: Your framing and depth of field show the subjects and environment in the most engaging and powerful ways I have ever seen in videos. Your attention to the sounds and sights of nature, and including them in the videos truly make it feel like the viewers are right there with you. Add to that the wonderful relationship shown between two brothers and this is the most peaceful and enjoyable 15 minutes of video that can be found. Have you ever considered a "tips for wilderness videography" type of video? Or a camera gear review? Thanks for sharing, Max.
Totally agree with you!
Tips for videography would be great!!
Hey Evan, thank you so much for your thoughtful commentary. Perhaps sometime in the future I will do a wilderness videography tips but for now I feel I am just getting a handle on it myself as well 😅.
@@maximbudnick Well whatever you’re doing now is working wonderfully! Super engaging shots and larger than life scenery. I look forward to your progression if you feel like you’re just getting a handle on it!!
Ditto
The scenery, wildlife and brothers living life to its fullest... bravo
Thank you discombobulated! (great name) Cheers
Had to pause the video. Amazing photogenic scenery, amazing and soothing nature sounds, and amazing transitions in the editing. 10/10, 4 minutes in!
Thank you very much!
I leave in 10 days for a solo trip with my brand new Swift pack boat. This video just reinforces why I do these trips. Once again Maxim, excellent videographer and mindful commentary. Keep it up old soul.
Exciting stuff! Hope you have an incredible trip and let me know how it goes! Thanks for stopping by and and for the very kind words as usual. Cheers!
@@maximbudnick9 days now....but who's counting. Will do.
How was it?
What a beautiful film. And I'm loving the birding aspect of it, as I fancy myself a bit of a birder. As always, I also enjoy when you and your brother share adventures together. It's obvious that you are also best friends. Beautiful.
Thanks! I really appreciate that! I am very much a beginner birder. I am learning a ton.
What a great video. Every part of it had its own kind of peacefulness. Thank you!
Thank you, Connie! Peacefulness is the greatest compliment! All the best!
A lovely, serene video. And I learned that porcupines climb trees!?! :-)
They are good at it too! Poor little guy was probably up there for safety - I kept my distance and tried not to bother him too much, but I had to take a little video first because he was so beautiful.
Thanks! From silence to hearing the celebratory cheers of two brothers, echo across the water, is truly a joy to witness.
Thank you again for bringing us all along on another inspiring journey that showcases the pure beauty that nature offers.
Hello, May (not sure if that's you're name - sorry)! Thank you for the support - that's very kind of you. Thank you also for the encouraging words - It's wonderful to know you get a sense of coming along with me on the trips since I've been so grateful to videos that have given me the same feeling. Cheers and thank you once again!
Maxim, my goodness. Every video, your skills as a photographer and editor just keep improving. Wonderful to experience such beautiful places through your efforts.
I so agree with you!!!!
Thank you so much, I really try to make each video better than the last, though not always successfully.
🙂
I so appreciate that you identify the birds you film!
Glad you like that detail! Thanks for watching! :)
Beautiful location, amazing birdsong and a peaceful adventure that touches the soul. The blue heron at the end was majestic. Thank you for taking us along, Max. Blessings
Thanks for watching!

Awesome video Max 👍🏻

Greetings from Canada! I hope to get a chance to travel in your part of the world some day! Thanks for stopping by!
you'd be most welcome to pop in here if you're in this neck of th woods, got lots o land forest n animals. warm regs
I appreciate the subtleness of your videos. It feels very contemplative but in a good way. In the midst of all this crazy shit that is our world, your videos help ground me a little bit. Thanks Maxim and looking forward to the next!
If I have helped a bit in that way, then I consider my video a success. That is exactly what I am trying to do.
Magical Max and Xander how much I enjoy every minute of your adventures, observations, Poe, water fowl & birdsong, fishing, white water, and YES, the expertise acquired with aging 😉. Lord knows there must be some pluses right 💜 Love you brothers 💕 Barret
Hey Barret! Yup, there is always a silver lining - and the knowledge that comes is wisdom is a pretty nice one. Cheers and thanks for stopping by!

Hola Jaime, gracias por tus amables palabras. Significa mucho para mí que disfrutes lo que tengo para compartir contigo. ¡Gracias!
Another wonderful video Maxim. You and your brother Xander are amazing together, and on that perch, what beautiful scenery to behold. Kudos to Xander for catching such a big muskey, he did real good...😃👍
As always the wildlife money shots. You're realky good at this, you have a great eye for beauty Mr. Budnick...🌟🇨🇦👍🙏
Awesome!!!
Thank you so much 😀
What a wonderful video. That general feeling when its getting dark and you put all the things in order in your tent, the sound of the zipper opening and closing tour tent, the sounds of nature on the background. Its legendary. Somehow you create this feeling through this video. Chapeau for you. Have a nice day Max!
Hi, Sandro! That's awesome to hear - I've gotten so much joy in the past out of watching a video that allowed me to feel present in nature - so to hear I did that for someone else is absolutely awesome. Thanks for that!
I was going to make a comment about Xander needing to keep one of the pointy ends of his canoe aimed down river when battling rapids but then he instantly redeemed himself with that ginormous Muskie 😊
The mountain goat conversation was hysterical
Such a gorgeous area. The best thing about you guys is that you never take it for granted
Hey there, Alan! Haha yeah that muskie was beautiful but smaller than the one he caught last time if you can believe it! Glad you enjoyed this one and got a couple laughs out of our mountain goat theories. Cheers!
You have the skill of bringing the viewer along Max.
Your compositions, B-roll, talking, observations....its all so engaging.
I feel that your genuine love of the place in all its expressions is what allows you to convey it in such a beautiful way.
You and Xander's chemistry is endearing.
Each video you put is deeply inspiring.
Thanks mate.
Thanks a lot, man! Those are very kind words. Glad you sense my genuine love for the place. And yeah Xander and I have a great bond - and I have to give him all the credit for making our trips more entertaining. Cheers!
Awesome footage, as usual.
Thank you! Take it easy!
A fleeting feeling that is repetitious on your many adventures.
That's right!
This was a beautiful northwoods bath I needed today. Thank you ! I appreciate you lugging a telephoto out there and filming all the wildlife. And the editing is 👌 stellar work sir!
Thank you! I've been trying to be patient with the editing - always working to make small improvements from one video to the other. It's really nice to sit back and enjoy the encouraging comments after the marathon of coming home and editing for several days. Thanks for that! Cheers!
Another outstanding video..... Love the rapport you have with your brother ....... Looking forward to the next.
Thank you, Darrell! It's incredible to be able to share hobbies/interests with family. Next will be coming in not too long. Cheers!
Another beautiful fusion of cinematography, philosophy, "living the moment", and literary references. "Imp of the perverse" - Hey, I resemble that remark! 😅 💚
Haha awesome. Thanks for stopping by, Gord. Hope you've been well
Wow, what a great video, enjoyed it a lot! I felt like I meditated, so peaceful, calming and beautiful. Thank you
You are so welcome
What a trip! Great video and some stellar wildlife shots🙌
Thank you, Evan! Cheers!
Beautiful! Another stellar cinamatic masterpiece 😊. Well done, thanks for sharing!
As usual you are too kind, Gilles! All the best and it's my pleasure to share, as usual.
I’ve been waiting for your version of this trip you made with Xander. It was worth the wait! So beautiful, so zen like in quality and depth. The way you captured nature, the bird calls (the raucous Jays are my favorite), all of it! Thank you Max for this moment. Blessings and namaste 🙏
My pleasure as usual, Nicholas. Thank you for stopping by!
Just wow! Love the shots and closeups of wildlife especially the Merganser! The Hermit thrush has a really beautiful song. Beautiful bird too. I got the chance to catch one (mist net) and band it. Can't walk in the forest without hearing them. ❤
Thank you, Amy! That's very cool that you got to catch and band one. I'm jealous!
@@maximbudnick It's an amazing experience! From a tiny chickadee to an angry bluejay biting your fingers. 🥲
Imp of the Perverse. Love you guys.
Hey there!! Isn't it a fantastic name for the feeling? It stuck with me ever since I came across it. :)
"We stand upon the brink of a precipice. We peer into the abyss-we grow sick and dizzy. Our first impulse is to shrink away from the danger. Unaccountably we remain... it is but a thought, although a fearful one, and one which chills the very marrow of our bones with the fierceness of the delight of its horror. It is merely the idea of what would be our sensations during the sweeping precipitancy of a fall from such a height... for this very cause do we now the most vividly desire it."
You mentioned how you've grown from your experiences the past three years, and it shows. Well done, and motivational!
I appreciate that!
Brilliant video maxim scenery and wildlife are amazing to see and yeah that was some fish xander caught great time spent with one another making some great memories to show your kids and that all is not bad in this world we have nature to thank for that thanks for sharing all the best and take care 👍👌❤️
Hey Peter! Yup and that's only the second biggest muskie I've seen him catch. Thanks for stopping by - always nice to read you comments. Cheers, buddy!
@@maximbudnick your welcome mate love both your videos 👌👍
I watched again Max!! This video makes me feel so tranquil inside which is a real blessing I feel! I wish I was there too. Thank you!! 😊😊😊
Love hearing it gives you tranquility! Thanks for that! :)
Thank you for another amazing video.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching :)
Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more of your camping, hiking, and canoeing videos of you and Xander🐞👍🏽👍🏽🙏🐞
My pleasure!
Well ya did it again, Max. Your ability to capture the rolling waters, a hovering bird, nature in general, it's as striking as the beauty that your filming. And I always love seeing you and Xander together, you've got great chemistry. As always, I'm already looking forward to your next adventure.
Many thanks!
Absolutely amazing Adventure Story! What an incredible video!thank you for making this beautiful and such a great documentary.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! We were just up in the Achray campground on Grand Lake last weekend for the first time. Beautiiful country in there!
It truly is. Thanks again for watching
Wow between watching the 2 video perspectives, I really love all the close up shots. Makes it feel alot more Personal and I guess intimate for lack of a better term. Awesome. Much love from Quebec!
Thanks, I love the closeup shots as well!
Great video, you are one of those channels that should get more views and have more subscribers. Keep making content that isn't like everyone else's.
Will do! Just hoping the channel keeps slow and steady growth... Thanks for the support
Pure zen. I resonate 100% with your sentiments about the hermit thrush. Before I learned it’s name I called it a “flute bird”. The natural beauty you captured and conveyed is magical. Well done!
Haha flute bird is very appropriate! Thanks for watching and for the kind words, April. Cheers!
Another soul-soothing vid. Thanks Max.
My pleasure, Johnny. Cheers
@@maximbudnick the effort you guys put into your filming and editing is so appreciated. Bringing the beauty and serenity of the Canadian wilderness to yearning eyes around the world lol.
nice camera work
Thank you, Jimmie! Your skiing video made my wife jealous - she always talks about wanting to ski in Hokkaido - looks beautiful! Cheers!
This awesome adventure was a birders delight! The Common Merganser diving! The ethereal and melancholy song of the elusive Hermit Thrush! A cliffside Perigrine Falcon bad ass! And, so much more. Exciting paddling on a gorgeous and often technical river. Xander's 🛶 & 🦈 redemption. Maxim's natural, soulful reflection. 😇
Carefully crafted videography and sensual storytelling. Sigh.
Max, you truly bring us along for the ride. And, we are better for it.
💙 X X 💙
Really enjoy taking you along for the ride! It sure has been a journey and look forward to see where it goes 🙂
Beautiful video Max. Great job capturing that peregrine 😃
Beautiful bird isn't it? I was so happy to get that shot. Cheers!
Thank you Max…..a most enjoyable video. The nature lessons and the beautiful quietness of your taking us along this peaceful journey is indescribably awesome! 😊
Very welcome Janet thank you!
Maxim is the best wildlife filmmaker , his video is not all about him , but about the nature surrounding him !
You are too kind. Thank you, my friend! Cheers
Que vídeo top meu irmão. Um forte abraço do povo brasileiro.
Obrigado, amigo!
Sou do Ceará região nordeste do Brasil. Que legal saber que existe uma nordestina retada aí com você. Um forte abraço arretado do povo nordestino. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🌵🌵🌵
The first few seconds of the water just glistening spoke volumes of how peaceful this trip was. Not sure if it was intentional or not but you mentioning how this experience was "fleeting" and then how this video was edited, each frame you shot, the conversation between you and your brother, the celebration, your reflection, showed exactly just that. It was basically like writing a thesis paper through use of visual media!
I really appreciate your time and observations. Everything was definitely edited purposefully. All the best!
the bird shots are sick. nice work man!
Thanks, man! Cheers!
The call of the Hermit Thrush is _absolutely magical._ My brother and I spent a few nights listening to its reverb-laden song during the Canada Day weekend. Funny coincidence to see you feature it in a video at the same time!
Great footage & vibe as always, Max.
Thanks, Radar! Yeah you just can't overstate the beauty of listening it it when you're out there! Cheers, man! Hope you've been well!
Beautiful, relaxing and visually breathtaking. Brothers enjoying together. 👌
Thanks for watching, Catherine! :)
@@maximbudnick my pleasure. You are very talented. From Perth West australia

Yes! The Hermit Thrush. My favourite too. Was happy you pointed it out.
Hello, Mishelle! Glad you enjoyed the little guy! Cheers and thanks for watching! :)
Love the videography of the birds and animals and hearing the sounds of nature as well. The colors of nature are so beautiful, like they are mixed and matched by the hand of a master artist! But no artist can match the artistry of God!
Growing up, our family canoed the rivers in the Ozarks of Missouri. So I love your river trips! Course we didnt canoe rivers with the higher class rapids, class 2 was about our highest. We also did a couple of boundary water canoe trips. As kids we wanted to go to Disney Land but our vacations were always into the wilderness as Dad wanted and now I’m so grateful for those trips, they brought me into an awareness of the incredible beauty of God’s creation. And the joys of simple living.
Such beautiful words, Cindy. Thank you for sharing a bit of your story. One of the most enjoyable trips I've ever done was just North of Boundary Waters in Quetico. 10 days of not seeing another soul in the most beautiful pristine nature. Only the occasional far away sound of an airplane as a reminder of what millennium we were in (well, I suppose our nylon gear as well haha).
Such a shame I didn't film videos back then - would be so nice to look back on that trip. I am due for a return! Many lakes left unpaddled! Thanks again, Cindy. Cheers!
I remember Xander's video on this trip and how he felt like he had righted some mistakes from the first trip. You can tell your experience is growing. Max, love your eye for detail, how you can pick out wildlife where most would not see it. But what I enjoyed most was the peace. I have a deadline oriented job (working for Maverik in Utah) so watching you drift down a river brings tranquility. That's what I enjoy about your perspective on nature. Thank you!
Wow man, really happy to hear I can provide a some tranquility for you. All the best!
You're such a filmmaker! Your B-roll could be put together to a first class video by themselves. Respect!
Thank you! Been trying to step up my editing game piece by piece. Cheers and thanks again!
Excellent photography!!! Thank you for identifying the wildlife!!!
My pleasure, Paulo! Cheers
That huge camara with the white lens that showed up in recent videos the other day really makes a difference in filming, the wildlife especially! Thank you for carring it around with you (I am sure that takes some effrots) and taking such unique shots!
haha no problem, I enjoy it a lot
You are quickly becoming my favourite you- tuber; don't tell Xander. When it comes to outdoors videos, as far as narrative goes, less is more.
Wow I am honoured Mark, thanks!
Mark, you may want to reconsider who your "favorite outdoor youtuber is as far as narrative goes" - Sincerely, I'm watching you
@@XanderBudnickDont worry, you are both legends in my eyes.
Well Maxim what a delightful way to end my day. Your videos are so soothing to the soul. I know I’ve said this before, however I love the way you capture the wildlife, sounds and scenery, giving us the feeling we are there ourselves. As always thank you!! Keep smiling and living life to the fullest!!
Hello, Lucie! It was a beautiful trip, and I'm glad I was able to capture some of it for you to enjoy as well :) All the best!
What amazing shots through all this video! Keep up the good work man👊🏼
Thank you, Jack! Will do :)
The Peregrin, the Common Merganser, the Porcupine... well captured!!
Thanks Michael!
I second the most relaxing 15 minutes of backcountry canoe triping I enjoyed it immensely and, definitely got the feeling of being right there in the moment. I watched Xander's more frenetic version last week. Its a nice counterpoint you guys show of the same trip. You do great work with your camera and, really like your wildlife and, your very chill narration. Bravo!!
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed it Michael, thanks for watching!
Hi from Florida
Beautiful video
I love watching you guys so be careful out there. Bye now

A beautiful video in nature !!!
Thank you, Anne Marie! :)
Magical!
Thanks again, Beverly. Sorry for the late replies!
Master class in the true idea of nature. Great job. Thank you.
Thank you!
Outstanding work. I love how different your perspective is from your brother's (also great) vid of the same trip. So beautifully filmed, and with a depth that belies the short run time. The wildlife shots, with the identification, were also a great touch. Thanks for this.
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed!
I call it the "high mountain magnet" that is pulling me off the edge. I must resist if I want to see more. I love the Mergansers. I see them often in the sierra of California.
haha ya I can relate!
What a beautiful video. The place is amazing. Thanks for such a wonderful film.
And I didn’t know that porcupines were tree climbers.😊
Thanks yes I learned that porcupines clime trees as well. I kept my distance but I am pretty sure he just wanted to get away from me when I came across him in the bush :)
There are many people in this world who do not understand English. It would be nice to enable subtitles for your gorgeous videos. Thank you so much.
Hello, Serge. It is my goal to create subtitles for each one of my videos. I've tried to get auto generated subtitles turned on as a temporary measure, but have been unsuccessful in making it work. I will get to typing subtitles in manually - hopefully in the near future!
@@maximbudnick many thanks and lot of "bravo" for your videos
Great seeing your video. 😊
Thanks for watching, Rebecca! Glad you enjoyed this one :)
The animal shots are incredible!

Beautifully done.
Thank you, Jamie!
Man what can I say but amazing video. The way you talk through the video just puts me in another place and time. It’s awsome to see you and xan together as you two are so different but yet so must alike. You are somewhat reserved and Xan well he is Xan I love following you two together but also like watching y’all apart. Please continue the awesome videos
Hey Wendel! Thank you for the kind comment. Yup I agree with that - very different but very alike at the same time. We like a lot of the same things, and while I wouldn't say I'm particularly reserved, Xander's personality is so... _exuberant_ I think it exacerbates our differences - specially on camera. Thanks for stopping by and for another very kind comment. Hope all's been well with you! CHeers
My Dude, you have a Beautiful spirit, this motion picture was Epic and I'm truly grateful you brought me along for the journey... Easily my favorite outdoor video of all time... And, you and the brother are Incredibly Hott...❤❤❤

That is so kind of you Sophia, thank you!
Goreouse areas you canoed epic captures of of the landscape and river areas the whitewater the whirlpool and the calmness of other areas . your videograpghy skil'sl are second to none and getting better with each trip in the wilderness . Have to love the pecfulness and sounds of the birds , Loved the capture of the porupine so sweet. You make me feel that I need to get back into these area's which I love, work got in my way unfortunatly next year will be diffrent. I am terrified of hights and could never sit on the edge of a cliff, but spectacular views. What a beautiful video. Ontario .
Thanks Sue! sad to hear that work got in your way this year. Really hope you can make some trips happen next year.
Nice juxtaposition with X’s video. You’re a beautiful wildlife photographer. Nice Zen to your work. Thank you for sharing.
