Janet Vance He did, he really actually did, he put the chain on backwards, a feat, I thought, would have been impossible! I think he got onto it though, between clips, as you’ll notice how well it cut after his initial start up cut.
Those saws were vibration happy! He never used any Loctite that I could see. Stihl used a case press to separate the cases b/c of the fragility of the design. Realise he didn't have access to such tools so he did the best he could do. I'm surprised he didn't break somethin' using that hammer.
Yeah I have 5 041 saws that all had case parts broken from fasteners rattling loose and the operator horsing on the saw with missing fasteners. Both common problems on Stihls of this vintage.
Correct me if I’m wrong but after filling the chain oil tank the gas he put in looked like regular gas judging by the color. The chain saw is a 2 cycle with gas oil mix usually bluish green in color
this could have been staged. Not to say that somebody was working up in those woods with the saw and It’s seized up on them and they got mad at it and just tossed it at the tree. And forgot about it But yes definitely could’ve been staged
@@Ellenslife851 The teardown shows a well used saw and probably did die. Any repairs would be costly so they dumped it. It seems a lot gets dumped on the wayside over there.
It's surprising that the original piston rings still gave the engine that much compression after the piston was jammed up in the cylinder unless they were replaced with new rings without anyone seeing that they were taken out of the box - the chainsaw actually cuts very well. It appears that the muffler wasn't painted on the build,it would be a good idea if it was painted with that high temperature exhaust or Barbecue grill paint to protect it from the outside elements a bit more !
This guy will make thousands of dollars on this video for a half assed "restoration" He basically just took it apart and cleaned it and put it back together and gave it a Krylon paint job a toddler could do. But he's about to get paid so I guess props to him.
When removing bar studs you can put a double nut on it and tighten them together and then use a wrench as to not damage the threads and denting metal if your vice grips slip...
I read comments and you're The Restorator. You're going to respond to me with your now famous quote 'Thank bro!". Do it. It will free up my mind. Take me a little higher.
I was thinking the same thing lol I might have came across one or two of those items in my life but nowhere near as often as he does. I love the acting scene of him looking up in the tree like he knew something was going to be found.
Сальники и подшипники железным молотком в крышки не забивают, а запрессовывают, в тисках. При этом обязательно, чтобы посадочные места были чистые. Одна песчинка может всё испортить.
Great work even though it is an obvious set up, but please wear some gloves while using the mysterious liquid and things, whatever it is it cannot be good for your hands surely !
looks like he sprayed wet flower on it and other things to make it look like its been sitting in the woods for years i live in a chainsaw world here were everybody burns wood for heat and i never heard of someone finding a saw in the woods
It's amazing that it was able to cut that well with the chain on backwards.
Cuts pretty good for having the chain on backwards 😂
Thank Bro!

Do you replace the carburetor on it or just rebuild that one ?

What a crazy place to find a chainsaw, oh and you were ALSO recording?! Wow!
It’s amazing! That chainsaw started at first shot!
1:26 i like the way you placed the chainsaw on the green leaves 😉 😎 👌
I don't care if he "finds" this stuff in the woods or not. It's just entertaining to watch, regardless.
Clear fuel, never had to replace a single part, didn't even have to tune the carb and had the chain on backwards. Im impressed.

Very cool clip!! Way to go getting that saw up and running!
Enough of the idea that you're just finding chainsaws laying around like easter eggs.
Thank Bro!
Yeah I never understand that. It's a restoration video, not an episode of Pokemon....

agreeed! also the chain oil looked like old motor oil.
Stihl hp ultra 2 cycle oil leaves the gas it's regular color. So always write on ur 2 cycle cans so u know which is which.
that was amazing
Я тоже так могу только разобрать 😂 а собрать половина деталей будет лишними 😁
Finally a restore that I can enjoy. Hard to believe someone left a Stihl saw out there. Regardless, its always worth saving even for parts.
Probably found it in a building and set it up there

Nice silicon glue instead gasket glue...
AlsoMake a clutch cover template with cardboard and then mould an aluminum replacement in sand...
I have 17 acres and as many times as I try I never find anything left on my property. I guess people don't like me or something.

For someone with that much talent, why the chain backwards?
Looks like he flipped it around when he went to start it though.

He's in the southern hemisphere
In Australia it's actually on right 😉
Talent??????? Did you see that paint job on this saw what the ****** no filler no putty old paint is sticking on aluminium and he panits over it
He got it all done and put the chain on backwards! @26:50.

chain&piston on backwards, wrong colour for stihl and no logos saved, a shame of a restauration..... but you know, a man has to learn. keep it up
Please explain how you put a piston on backwards for some one that is not knowledgable in engine rebuilding.
where is this place where such good machines are thrown out?👍

Súper genial
buy it from scrapyard and put them anywhere they want for the welcome part of the clip
Я так понял они никогда не узнают что такое тепловое разширение и дальше будут забивали коленвалы и подшипники молотком и деревяхой

It's funny how people know where to look in places, specially in bushes,
to find something that is going to be there for you to find.
Great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
An american lumberjack must have been in vacation cutting exotic wood when he forgot where he left his chainsaw
more likely his bones are spread around by wild animals......after he got shot by the restorer himself.
how many saws can one person find in the jungle im not falling for it. good RNR video though
