That was really interesting to watch, no distracting music or talking too which made the video so relaxing to watch. Amazing finished result! Like night and day 👍
I think the newer they are the more problems they have. It is a quality issue. I just bought a 271 and It takes me forever to get it fired up. My old 251 fires up without hesitation but it is not always big enough to handle the job. Listen at how this thing runs. You can tell it just runs because there is nothing to it. Its timeless. This thing will last another 50 years if its cared for.
That old chainsaw had all the indications of very little use or rebuild prior to neglect. The chain sprocket had almost no wear as did the teeth on the chain. Also the piston and cylinder bore were very little worn. Almost like it was bought for one job then stuck away for years........... although the handle and trigger say it had quite a bit of use. Anyway you did a marvellous job restoring it and the way it ran made me smile. Well done.
So many great products on the market these days, I really enjoy how restoration enthusiasts can achieve great results. This project is a great example of conversation and restoration. You should be proud of this project.
What on earth are you talking about? CONVERSATION? Are you sure you're replying about the same video as the rest of us! It's never a good idea to use language in a way not yet checked out, lol.
You did a beautiful job on that old treasure man! Nothing beats a STIHL! Old or new there is nothing that can even compare in my opinion and I've used 'em all..... Good work!
I was scratching my head at how many parts there were in the first three minutes. What a number!! It's wonderful that you revived the chainsaw without losing these! The sharpness is also excellent ☺️
An amazing and brilliant refurbishing project. It looks new and sounds like it run like new as well. Should be proud of that transformation... Thumbs Up for sure!

How relaxing it is to witness a true professional at work. His work ethics are out of this world. Sir, you are one of the best in the business! Thanks for taking us along.
Pro's say Stihl saws are not always the easiest to start. Maybe the other brands are no better but for every 1 of so e other brand there must be 100 Stihl, so maybe it's only SEEMS that way.
That is freaking gorgeous! On a safety note, *always* wrap your thumb around the front handle when you're running the saw. Opposing your thumb to the rest of your fingers will prevent the saw from slipping out of your grip and towards you if it ever kicks back. Nice work!
My dad had one just like it. My brother's restored it to its original point and now it works even better than before. My dad was 83yrs years old. I miss him 🇦🇺🙏👍🖐🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I am about finish restoration of my father stihl 08 ! 08 is just before the 08s ! The différence is the 08s have chain break on it but that the same saw ! I put a big bore cylinder on it and i ported the cylinder for more power ! When i finish , i make a test and she going on the stand in my garage whit my collection of old saws ! My father past away in 2016 and i am sure he is happy to see is old 08 back in life ! 😊
Hello friend! I also lost my dear father 7 years ago, I know what it's like! Congratulations on your restoration, your father is certainly happy about it!😊🤝
I’ve got an 1968 Stihl 08 . Still starts on pull of the cord . Only modifications was the exhaust, couldn’t get a factory one so adapted off a later model with 3x4mm holes to get the compression right and now only run a 17in bar instead of the 21in . Also replaced the oil pump about 20yrs back . Has been consistently cutting 15T of firewood every year for the 50yrs I’ve had it . Awesome bit of kit .😊
Good Job!! I know from experience that even a Stihl does not start on the first pull especially after a rebuild. But it did start and cut. sounded great. I really enjoy the process, must have a good tech manual and lots of patience
I have only begun watching and I’m already close to subscribing to you. Like, the way everything is layed out on the table is 📘! Plus, with no background music or noise it just makes this even more enjoyable! So, thank you! It means a lot when you keep the background noise level to a 1.
Great restoration, love the peroxide on the plastic, my only concern would be crankshaft and gudgeon pin bearings over the long term, did you fit new?, and i would have fitted a new chain, wouldn't have trusted the rivet pins at links, however that said, well impressed with the resto.
Seriously incredible work. My second video watching of yours and now I will subscribe. What really impresses me is the eclectic nature of your knowledge and skill set. You have to know a lot about everything to take on restorations and it’s just awe striking. Thanks for the inspiration!

The most amazing thing is you remember where everything goes to get it back together. Man I wish I had a mind like that

You are working for Stihl!! No one else can put all the parts together again! Great Job.
Your comment suggests you replacing a lightbulb was the most complicated "mechanical" job you did.

@@Pgr-pt5ep well, for me is impossible what he did. Amazing
@@FT-jh2puIt's not that hard trust me. Chainsaws are actually simple.
finally a genuine YT creator that is not faking the restoration and respecting mechanics rules. I'm so happy to witness such a great job !

Aw. Sand blasting is my favorite part. So relaxing. I had a job that all i done was sandblast parts and ro this day was the best job i ever had.
I love it too.
Sandblasting; minimum effort, maximum results. Life doesn't often give us this! 😊
Nice job. You got that saw to start right up and it was totally re-built. I can't even get my miserable Stihl saw to start and it damn near brand new.
I’ve had good luck with my stihls. I have a 088, 881, 661 cm, 201t, 151t CE, 461, a few others… none were ever problematic. Which one are you using
