In the end, Allan and Sarah purposely hired Judy and Peter's parents to prevent them from getting in the accident and dying. So you all are correct, they purposefully changed the future as a thank you to the kids since they both (Allan/Sarah) got second chances at life when the game ended as well.
It was only after multiple viewings of the movie that I realized that the man after them with the rifle was his father. You get so much of this movie from re-viewing it. My favorite part of the Asia & BJ viewing was when BJ made the comment of the batteries being sold separately. I had to pause the viewing to laugh and laugh. This was the best Jumanji. I've seen them all and this was definitely the best.
That, and even though I grew up watching this movie and have seen it more times than I can count, it cracked me up when Asia pointed out how Alan was trying to keep the spider away by blowing air at it. I never really noticed and I cracked up at that part for the first time ever.
Loved this reaction. This was a phenomenal movie and while the CGI doesn't stand the test of time in some parts, it's forgiven due to the perfectly written script. David Allen Grier kills me in every single scene he was in. Every person in this movie stepped it up. Acting wasn't cheezy, kids were amazing.
The parents were in marketing, but were not working for Parish Shoes. Alan and Sarah reached out to them and offered the father a job. The two of them were going to go on the planned ski holiday, where they died in the original timeline, and that is why Alan and Sarah cried out "NO!" and said they needed the father to begin immediately.
Another reactor made an observation/theory that actually makes a lot of sense. Jumanji is called "A Game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind." Alan, Sarah, Judy and Peter are all unhappy in their lives that Jumanji deemed their stories strong enough to lure them into wanting to play this game, and 'leave this world behind'. That is why only THEY can hear the beating of the drums and no one else. Maybe Jumanji tries to lure them like a spider with flies, but when the players manage to defeat Jumanji, they are given a second chance at life and they really make the most of it.
When they finished the game, it reset to back when they were when they played the game. But it doesn't erase their memories. They definitely still knew the kids.
I really love how you two just love and appreciate all of the movies that you watch. You just soak it all in and just spread the positivity all over it. Warms the heart. Jumanji was filmed in my home town of Keene NH!
This movie has a sort of sequel called "Zathura." It has totally different characters (and actors) and they are playing a science fiction themed game. It is considered a sequel because both movies are based on books by Chris Van Allsborg, and the first book ends by mentioning the two main characters in the second book, The movies omit the connection, though.
Glad someone mentioned it. love zathura. Always watch it after the first Jumanji. It’s part of the jumanji universe/ books anyway. Lot of ppl dismiss it or don’t even know about it. Or know it’s connected. Which is a shame. It’s a great fun film.
His Dad didn't know that it wasn't just Billy Jessup.....that it was Billy the Bully AND several of his friends that was trying to beat up Allen. He said the Allen was going to have to face "Billy" sometime. The Mom mentioned it wasn't just BillyJessup and the Dad said that he didn't know there were a bunch of boys .....he told him how proud he was that he stood up to them even though he was outnumbered. He Loves Allen. It shows at the end of the movie. 😊
Props my friend. I did not catch Van Pelt was the father until I re-watched the movie a couple of years later. The remakes are good, but lack the magic of the original. I think what made it special was the love story, the errieness of the board game (ala weegee board), learning morals & values & growing up, & just the overall family values & bonding through out the film.
This movie was always one I loved but it became especially personal after my dad died when I was 16 mainly because we had a fought a lot and I blamed myself for so long just wishing i could have one more chance to apologize and tell him I loved him so every year on the anniversary I watch it with my wife
I always thought that it was cool of them to do that tradition like Peter Pan. I'm annoyed at the newer Peter Pan movies because they never show the parents anymore, or it's a prequel. I love seeing an actor play dual roles in the same film.
Everytime when I watch this and Sarah clutches her belly and says," Well, we love children", I always say, I just ate one this morning! And I laugh so hard😂
I agree with Asia; it really looks like Judy and Peter recognized Alan and Sarah, but didn't say anything because they had to keep mum in front of their parents.
Yeah I have been dead set on that theory since I was a kid. They just act WAY too much like they're happy to see old friends they've never met before, that goes way beyond "my dad's new boss is really nice". But...when did they get the memories? It'd really mess them up if they had that whole life experience in their heads from when they were babies haha, but the mention of the Colorado trip makes it seem like the epilogue takes place BEFORE they died in the original timeline, so it's not like the memories came flooding in at the time they played the game in the old timeline...so yeah I have to admit it's hard to make it make sense. So I'm just going with "it's magic" haha.
@@jerodast I gather that the same way Alan and Sarah grew up a second time with their memories of the entire experience, Judy and Peter were reborn was at least the memories of their gameplay from the life they had based on the events of their game.
Robin Williams was one of the greatest actors and comedians the world this year marks 10 years since his tragic death. So God bless you, Robin. Williams for delivering such a wonderful performance 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
47:50 One of my favorites growing up wore out that tape in the VCR. Completely forget how he tricked her to throw those dice lol Robin Williams so good
Great reaction guys, Asia laughing at the bug parts 😂. This is one of my all time favorite movies, especially when I was younger. Fun fact, the guy who played Alan's dad also played the hunter guy from the game.
Despite what others may say, about the game, I don't think of it as evil. It is a teaching game, and even as unorthodox as it was, it taught Allan and Sarah to be better humans, to face their fears, and that it's important to finish what they started.
When Asia asked who came up with the game, it suddenly occurred to me it could be linked to the previous year's hit, The Mask. While there is no basis in lore, it is easy to imagine that Jumaji was made by some unknown God to teach or torment humanity, just like the Mask was sent by Loki. (Damn Hiddleston!) I had no idea when watching this that Aunt Nora was played by Bebe Neuwirth, who gained fame as Dr Lilith Sternin/Crane in Cheers and Frasier. :D Or that Judy was Kirsten Dunst in one of her earliest roles.
I also just watched the Sandlot again for the first time in yeeeears, and forgot that Marion from Raiders of the Lost Ark was the main kid's mother! Crossovers between adult world and childrens' world are always funny :) And yeah the Mask mask and Jumanji game really have the same vibe, even if their movies do not haha.
I think the kids giving that smile isn't that they necessarily know them, but it's like a Deja vu feeling kind of thing, like they know these people are good people. A previous life kind of thing That's how I always saw it. Not that they remember them Point blank or playing the game or anything
Omg I just discovered you guys! My boyfriends away working and I've been sick, your videos have cheered me up so much! Watching movies with my other half is my fave and you guys remind me of that ❤ love from Ireland x
Another great reaction! I love this movie. My favorite part is when Robin Williams was stuck in the floor and tries to blow the spiders away out of the side of his mouth. It cracks me up every time. I sure hope you watch the remake and its sequel (and not just because The Rock is my #1 celebrity crush), but because they are really good as well.
Ode to Billy Joe was actually a real movie based on real people Bobbie Gentry was dating someone named Billy Joe, and he wanted to marry her. They were best friends forever, and he said if she truly he truly wanted to marry her, he would dive in the water and get her ring, and when he wouldn't, she threw her little stuffed teddy bear in the river to, so when they found his body three days later, they found the teddy bear in one hand and her ring in the other but what they didn't know was she was pregnant by Billy Joel he told her a secret right before it happened that they didn't or couldn't get married, because he was molested by the most powerful man in town, either the mayor or the sheriff And she said it didn't matter so they got into a little scuffle like a little fight and threw those two items into the river but he never came back up so she moved to Hollywood and wrote the song about him and they made into a movie, and it catapulted the song all the way to number one for weeks and for the past decades people have been wondering what did she actually throw into the river? Nobody at all ever know that was just their version that it was a ring and a teddy bear, but it was a very very good movie I really highly McKinney recommend you watch it it's with Robbie, Benson and Glynnis O'Connor like a made for TV movie but very very powerful very good and started careers for everybody in that movie. I highly recommend watching it but people still don't know still don't know what was thrown into that water. I happen to think it was the movie version and I think Bobbie Gentry likes what the movie did to it but she won't confirm it, so we'll never know what was thrown into that water. Hope that helps but it's like a good American folklore. No one knows what was thrown into that water just that he jumped in for her and got whatever she needed or wanted in that water. He would've done anything for her, so her parents sent her away pregnant. She ended up keeping the baby wrote poetry met. Somebody turned it into a screenplay made the movie and the song went to number one for almost a year. Hope that helps ----peace out Melissa.
I was 7 years old when this film came out and still to this day this game freaks me out lol. I used to think all that stuff was real! The power of movies I guess :D Btw, Asia has the greatest laugh!
This movie is such a classic, and an all time favorite without a doubt.. looove your laugh while watching this ! really made it a lot of fun to watch !:)
I love Robin Williams and I love Jumanji. When the new Jumanji came out, they played the old one and then the new one as a double feature. I went to watch the old one on the big screen but I had to walk out on the new one. It just did not remotely match the weight or depth of the original. It felt cheap. Its one of two movies I have ever walked out on in my life 😬
There needs to be a Jumanji origin story, who made the game, why... but it would probably seem more horror, but if you think about it in the end the game truly helps you to be a better person.
So glad you finally watched this! It's one of my all time favorites. An incredible story, with amazing special effects for it's time, and the catalyst for Jumanji 2 & 3. Which by the way, you absolutely have to watch! They're so much fun!🤗

Speaking of Kirsten Dunst……… I recently found out something that kind of surprised me. She is married to Jesse Plemmons. Most people may know him as Todd from “Breaking Bad!” 🤯😂
I wonder what would happen if a player die while playing the game. What would happen if the Hunter or a creature from the game would have killed Alan, for example?
I just realized the actor who plays the dad is playing TWO characters. How did I never see that?? LOL. He ALSO plays the hunter, who's chasing after Robin Williams..."van Pelt" from inside the game.
RIP, Robin Williams. He led an adventurous life.
One of the greatest
He was the best at entertaining, but he led a life of struggles sadly. 😞
He is a legend. The only actor/actress that really upset me at passing.
In the end, Allan and Sarah purposely hired Judy and Peter's parents to prevent them from getting in the accident and dying. So you all are correct, they purposefully changed the future as a thank you to the kids since they both (Allan/Sarah) got second chances at life when the game ended as well.
This is such a classic I don't care what nobody say this is my absolute childhood favorite I used to watch this movie on VHS

Once they won the game they was back like they never left.
Asia & BJ's lawyer: "Copyright infringement!" 😆
David Allen Griers scream always made me laugh when it took that car 😂🤣😂🤣
I know! I loved his character. He was so funny.
and when he saw the crocodile lol
My son loved this movie growing up... He's 27 now. But his favorite part that he say over and over again was..... My car...my car...

As long as the CGI still makes that monkey look dead serious while holding the gun on the cop motorcycle, it has done its job 😆😆
Why do I love it so much when Asia says "you are lying" ... We are clearly watching fictional movies, but she will not be lied to 😂 love it!
The parents were in marketing, but were not working for Parish Shoes. Alan and Sarah reached out to them and offered the father a job. Definitely a childhood treasure, they also had a cartoon adaption for a while as well :)
This is one of my all time favorite movies ever. I never noticed that Van Pelt was Allan’s father. 🤯
My kids dad and I used to watch this all the time! 😂 I only watched the newer versions once. Some things you should just leave alone.
The OG is unbeatable. But the ones made recently do give nods to Robin and the OG which is great.
I was surprised how much I liked the the first reboot movie. The second was a little more muddled.
Everything reset when Robin William's won the game....
His Dad didn't know that it wasn't just Billy Jessup.....that it was Billy the Bully AND several of his friends that was trying to beat up Allen. In the tradition of Peter Pan movies, the hunter and Allan's father are same actor.
It seems so obvious now but I never noticed that was the same actor, thanks!
I always thought that it was cool of them to do that tradition like Peter Pan. I'm annoyed at the newer Peter Pan movies because they never show the parents anymore, or it's a prequel. I love seeing an actor play dual roles in the same film.
More often than not asia figures it out and has to explain to bj, but BJ figures the whole film out and explained to asia and i love it.

They worked together in Fargo season 2, I think that's when they met. Great series, and glad it also brought them both extra happiness!
I could watch this movie over and over!
Van Pelt was the embodiment of his fear of his father.

Did you see that movie where Kate Beckinsale plays a Dracula?
8:30 - That's how she became Batwoman.
There is technically a sequel to this called 'Zathura', same author as Jumanji
Zathura wasn't a sequel, it's really a retelling of the same story with different characters and situations.
The kids give them a second chance by playing the game…. that’s why they went back to where they were the first time to start over
