- Want to see a backflip on a mountain bike into a lake? Watch us build a Lake Jump in Dave's Backyard for jumping bmx, mountain bikes, and any other type of bike. He wanted to have a ramp to do a flip on. We had a ton of fun riding this thing. Dave has around 30 acres of premium land for mountain biking and a 5 acre lake, perfect for backflipping. Flying off a ramp into a lake with a bike feels weirder than you would think.

Everyone needs a friend like Dave! I'm still trying to process that he seriously considered attempting his first ever back-flip without a padded landing and on a 70 lb bike!
people thought i was crazy just for trying my first flip on a 29er. and i had a landing made of snow haha
We use to jump ramps into ponds as kids in the late 70's on hot summer days, totally believe every cyclist needs to try this at least once.
I Def wanna try it. Does it harm ur bike tho? Like does the water get in the frame or somewhere and rust?
@@Losovox Yes it will, so I would recommend using a cheap bike you don't care about....maybe a garage sale find

@@Losovox You might pack the headset, crank, and wheel bearings with automotive grease, it will withstand the water a bit better than bicycle grade grease.

Assuming Dave has a house on this property, then it's safe to say he's got my dream setup. 30 acres of land, a 5-acre swim-safe lake on that land, and a cabin in the woods. I can't think of anything better.

This thing looks insane! We have a hidden one in whistler thats basically that but off of a 15 foot cliff. Never tried it, but it looks gnarly.
You need a steeper ramp to get the rotation easier. Rather than going forward you need to go up more. Flipping is basically counting the curvature of the ramp.
Back to the crazy shit!! This is what we like to see, bloody awesome Mate!!!
Awesome build! I know the channel is more about building than riding but really wish we got to see some better sends than a one hander and half a frontflip for a landing with almost no consequences. All that grip tape would make it perfect to learn spins, whips, whatever!

i brought a ramp to a local boat ramp one day and did it haha. (a ramp that hardly gets used tho, so i wasn't in people's way)
My local MTB park has one of these but 2x bigger! It’s sick!

To do a backflip you need to lean forward more first to get momentum to pull back. Same for the front flip. Lean really far back to get momentum to go forward.

You should make a detachable lip. Then he can take it on and off. A little bit of a lip might help him throw the backflip and then you can take it off for everybody fun

completely normal "swimming holes" in other states are deadly in the swampy south. stick to springs, rivers, and beaches.

Ok first off what ebike does he have that weighs that? Holy crap! Mine is a full downhill ebike and is 47 pounds. Second why didn't he jump it..... lol.

yeah, magic spoon aint cutting it for me. a normal package of cereal (375g) is 2,5$. so one box of magic spoon costs (198g) 8,50$. thats 4x the price!
