I've been watching you since I was 7 and always wanted a mountain bike. Yesterday, my dad surprised me for my 13th birthday and got me a mountain bike. I've been riding it around my city and having the time of my life. Thanks for being a part of my life!
“Today, on This Old Trail...” Seriously, watching things like this as a kid, plus helping my dad with projects is why working on things comes so naturally. It’s also why I geek out on tools. Keep this up. 👍
Next time try throwing some of those smaller logs under the big one as "wheels" and just roll it on out, moving the small logs from back to front as you go. Egyptian pyramid block style.
Strap that hand truck to the log lengthwise and roll it over so wheels are down. You don't have to hold the handle of the truck that way. Just make sure your tires are solid or aired up.
Most solid kicker ever. Nice milling work. Though watching you struggle with moving the log, you are fired from my pyramid building team! Rollers Seth , rollers!
I can barely clear 3 inches on a cross country bike which weighs half as much as his full suspension bike. Sure, I'm a "little bit" bigger than Seth (6'2") but this is mad hard. That's at least a foot, which is insane. I had to watch it like 10 times over in slow motion just to make sure lol
Definitely want to see more of the saw mill and making the most out of what you’ve got. It’s not just cost effective, but everything made has a special feeling and a story behind it.
This is awesome, love the rugged creativity that Berm Peak has unleashed in you! To make the most out of that little winch without adding a snatchblock: Set your tree anchors higher to pull up on the log and decrease ground friction, choke the log at the very end for maximum pull, try a plastic sled or scoop shovel under the front end of the log to increase slipperyness.
Hey Seth! Just a tip, you can always add in a pully system, such as one called a "z drag" to help lighten the load and increase the load capacity that the winch can pull!!
Bikes and burnouts what area do you I live in Rutherfordton county NC and near Seth and I was out of school today from tornado warning and BIG flash floods
I don't even have a mountainbike or anything like that. Just a city bike I (which I sometimes use for off-roading), but I like the inspiring vids and the woodworking side of the channel.
I swear tying the back of a hand truck (or one lying down) to the back of it and using a second one to wheel it up would’ve made it easier, but hey that’s complicated and kinda difficult
I've been watching you for years! You inspire me to make a MTB trail in my backyard. And now all my parents see in the backyard is ramps. Thanks for inspiring me!
cant belive how far seth has come form using a drill to move the log to making a full something to move a log and building all this crazy things in berm peak and building is own bike park hats off to you seth really love you bro

This "born and bred on Berm Peak" was an amazing video.....an amazing DIY project using all organic from the homestead materials. Well done. Looking for more like this. For the next adventure I'm picturing a homemade saw to the cut the planks with manpower.

Seth you don’t know how perfect timing this video is. I was just looking at that saw mill and wishing someone I subscribed to would test and review it.
Love this video so much. So inspiring. I’ve got lots of fallen trees on my property (mostly oak) and a couple chainsaws. Never thought of this. I see some good winter projects coming up.
You know that quite a few people are in to saw milling and mountain biking. I subscribe to a log milling channels as well as Mountain biking channels. I am fascinated by technical and productive activities such as automotive repair, tools and wood working just to name a few. That is why I am drawn to you channel. It has it all for us creative types. Keep up the good work and I will continue to watching the channel.
This is so awesome! I just ordered a chainsaw guide from Northern Tool and am planning to do this. We have a huge pine tree behind the house that was blown over in a storm a year or two ago. Should be able to get plenty of lumber out of it for something like this. Thanks for the inspiration.
Reminds of back in the day when my brother and I would build skate/bmx launch ramps and manual pads and kickers. Pallets for days in the yard and a garage full of stuff. It's awesome that you were able to find a "CHEAP" hunk of wood to make a gnarly ramp out of. Good on ya for repurposing that old tree too.
Hey Seth, regular viewer here. Loving the series, it consistently delivers exceptional quality and entertainment. I love seeing you experiment with your content and trying new things on camera. Keep up the great work.
I got into wood working about the same time as I got into MTB, witch was about two years ago. I have really liked all your videos especially the ones at berm peak but this is my favorite so far. Keep up the good work man.
I've been binging these videos for the past hour and a half. They're great. One suggestion - look into using pulleys and block + tackle; these tools will simplify a LOT of the work you're doing dragging stuff around.
As a semi-professional sawyer (I own 170 acres of timber and 2 Woodmizer sawmills), the cheap chainsaws mills hurt me to watch, but I fully recognize the utility and low cost for making a few boards (I just kept thinking that it'd take me about ten minutes to make that lumber on my mill). No, what REALLY pained me was your struggle to get the log out of the woods. It looked as if you did it the hardest way possible. Even with no tools there were much better ways. FWIW, white oak heartwood is one of the most rot resistant woods in the eastern forests. In ground contact it should last 20+ years. Love your vids and look forward to the new ones.
HEY SETH! Wanna know how to move logs around out there from now on? Here's what you do. Grab that dolly, or better yet buy the "blue" dolly from harbor freight with the bigger tires, lay it down, and get your sawzall out. Cut the bottom plate off, but, leave about an inch or two on the outside ends and cut to zero in the center, now you will have a shallow V-notch where the plate used to be. See where we are going? Bonus points if you scribe and and cut some teeth into it for extra grip when you are rolling over roots. Now, grab some ratchet straps. From here you can really write your own rules, but in essence, you lay out your ratchet straps, roll the log over them, put the dolly on top of the log and ratchet the dolly to it, now just roll the log over until you are resting on the wheels. Now you can just push it, pull it, or grab a friend and do both. Want to tow it with the "Gitter"? Easy enough, grab a trailer hitch from the hardware store and bolt it to a piece of 2x4 (or make your own custom "stick" with some steel square tube) and strap it or screw it to the log. Now you have a log trailer. You can even weld on some larger swivel wheels at the "top" of the dolly if you want them to help the log from nose diving as you haul it around. Considering that a dolly costs less than a loaded pizza this is a pretty cheap project and there is really no end to how you can customize or alter it for your needs. The idea is yours if you want to make a video on it, in fact it would thrill me to see it make it out there. Thanks for the great entertainment, and oh man does that oak look good. Need to make some garage furniture or racks out of some of that.
I've been watching you since I was 7 and always wanted a mountain bike. Yesterday, my dad surprised me for my 13th birthday and got me a mountain bike. I've been riding it around my city and having the time of my life. Thanks for being a part of my life!

Seth: Contrary to popular belief, this is how to ride a ramp.
Next time try throwing some of those smaller logs under the big one as "wheels" and just roll it on out, moving the small logs from back to front as you go. Egyptian pyramid block style.

Making Stonehenge over my driveway out of dead trees and youtube comments
