@Porter MTB I've found painting or treating the wood before assembling it saves time in the long run and it seems to help it last longer as you can cover all sides easily. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride
Man Eric sorry to hear about your friend Kelly passing away it's nice sometimes to reflect on what they have done for our lives and families lives i loved that part :)
Hey. We live in NZ and come from the same village as Kelly McGarry. His family dedicated a new pump track for the kids a couple years back. It's called Mcgazzaland and it's my 7yr boys favourite place!! Thought you'd like to know that even when Kelly has passed he's still inspiring the next riders!!
Hey! That is so awesome, I hope to bring the family down in the next few years to check out NZ and ride McGazzaland! I love NZ, one of my favorite places, so good to hear Kelly’s legacy is still carried on and helping the next gen!
Russian olive's are prolific spreaders depending upon where you live. As a tree trimmer we use a product called tordon to keep trees from coming back I'd ask a local company if they would be willing to stop by and or lend a bottle to prevent it from coming back. If they let you do it yourself make sure to be wearing heavy duty gloves and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards otherwise itll probably pop up for years to come. Best of luck love your videos.
You and Seth inspire me to start riding bikes with my son. I live in Salt Lake and wish I had the means and biking equipment to enjoy the backcountry like you and your boys do. Appreciate the fun family content, keep up the good work.
Shark fin to a wall ride at the end with a berm below the wall for people who dont want to do the wall ride. I think they are fun to ride in a small place. Remember to use hard wood for supports and fake decking with lots of supports threw out. That fake wood decking works great plus wont just snap like wood but will start bending just a little
I went to the Deer Valley bike park two weeks ago because of your videos. It was the most fun I’ve ever had and i’m thinking about moving up there. I hope i can see you and your boys shredding sometime in the near future.
I have never critiqued one of your build vids, because they're all great but, I can not remain silent. The upper deck is missing at least 1/4 of necessary stringers- there's no way that would pass code. Also, the added flex/stretch from the missing stringers accelerates the deterioration of the plywood. Good thing is, you can go from underneath with 3, bucketed 8x2's, seal it and, it will out last us both. I like the jump tarps. Maybe, at season, get everyone in the house, toss some wasp bombs under the tarps and run like heck.
If your ever in a pinch and encounter a wasp nest break cleaner also works externally well. I've killed one with isopropyl alcohol but haven't given it a good test might work if put in a pressurized sprayer though.
My son was just mentioning at the beginning of this video that he thought riding the slides would be fun. We can't wait to see that line running again.
@portermtb I would really love watching a video on your relationship with Kelly. How did you meet, what did you build together, all your trips and just random stuff whe he stayed at your house.
That would be cool to do. we met in Whistler, and again in New Zealand, and became really close friends over the years, we did a lot of fun stuff together!
Awesome stuff!! Much better than my few pallet stacks to ride over in my backyard. If I may be so bold as to suggest something regardig those good looking plumbs... if you thin them out a bit while they are still very small, basically just after the fruits have formed, the rest you leave on the tree will get quite a bit bigger! They will still taste delicious but will be a bit bigger. My dad used to be a farmer and we had a great variety of fruit trees. Just one little trick I picked up growing up. Try it next season!!
Sick! Just curious, did you consider doing traditional pressure treated decking instead of ply? Aside from the treating, the drainage created by the gapped boards helps to prevent rot, probably not much more expensive either. Obviously less smooth but I don't ride booters like those so I have no idea if that's super important or not haha.
10:17 - Amazing duck and weave there! "Float like a Porter, sting like a wasp!" Amazing video! Loved watching that! Really needed it as well after not having the best day. Thanks for putting in all the work, can't wait for some more vids of the backyard and the Alaska vids! Ps. Been waiting for and wondering when a new video was gonna drop for weeks (I had no idea you and the family were in Alaska, as I don't really use Instagram much). Was just thinking yesterday how much I had missed watching your dirt jumping vids and seeing Milo and Owen progress. Not sure of it would be possible, but would be great if you could just set up cameras in the backyard so we could follow how they progress over time (would require a lot of editing) but would be really fun to see and be super inspiring for many riders, I'm sure! Thanks again for the video and all the hard work you put in to making them, Eric! Enjoy the rest of your summer Porter family 🤘🏻💚
@@mattgies correct. However when he started mentioning the railing the first thing that came to mind was Matt. Porter likely beats Matt in many safety areas, perhaps that came with being a dad.
SORRY FOR LAUGHING, BUT THE WASPS NEST DEBACLE WAS PRICELESS. GOOD VID!
At least the lip is sturdy.
For real
Dude don’t be I watched it over 3 times and laughed so hard every time
milo seems like such a chill, positive kid.
So much work goes into having a backyard you can be proud of. Thanks for bringing us along 🤘🏻

I'm SPEACHLESS! You've got to be one of the very coolest people/riders/dad's/humans ever! I'm inspired!!
Thank you, that means a lot! Hope you have a great day!
I enjoy the footage of you working on various builds as much as the actually biking and the biking is a hoot to watch.
Looking forward to seeing the kids send the big line! Great stuff, Porters!

Yeah I should have done that, I am going to paint before winter though to help protect it!
I can not wait for the water slide build, I’ve been hyped for this since I first saw the backyard of their last owner!
Hopefully we have enough time this fall before winter, that's the plan!!
Dude. You are a good dad and your kids are great. Just, great job, seriously.
Man Eric sorry to hear about your friend Kelly passing away it's nice sometimes to reflect on what they have done for our lives and families lives i loved that part :)

The jumps look awesome!🤘🤘🔥
Can’t wait to see the water slide videos been wondering about that for a while. Love the videos keep on shredding
Dude it would be a dream come true to have a backyard like that
That’s rad
You might want to look into fiberglassing your top deck roll in, it would preserve it longer
That could work, I'm going to paint it before winter.
Woohoo, looking forward to the waterslides making a come back!
Dude that looked like it hurt! Hope you're getting better 👍always so cool to see the backyard, looking sick!!!
Yessirrrrr havent seen a notification from u in a while…Good to have u back🔥

Deckmate screws for life! And you almost losing tha sheet of plywood on the way up was very Clark Griswold and every dad watching.
The jumps held up well. Out here we use carpet on a lot of jumps.
I've done that before, carpet works well too.
It’s my birthday and this is the best birthday present!
