This album was THE album me and my bestfriend listened to on repeat, over and over again when it was released in August of 1988.
Fast forward to August of 1989...that same bestfriend came up missing. We spent five days looking for her believing that she ran away from home, but on the fifth night I received the call from her mom that she had been found. Unfortunately she was found but no longer with us. She had been brutally raped, murdered and left in a highly wooded area.
I listened to this song every day, all day for more than a year and then one day said "This is the last time I'm playing it and once I'm done, I'm never listening to it again"....and I've stuck to that all these years later. So even though I can't actually watch this video, I'm giving it a thumbs up just for the fact that you've decided to review such a wonderful song ❤
    Rest peacefully, Michelle.
(She always insisted that Guns N Roses wrote the song *My Michelle* just for her....God I miss her! 😔)

I had a mix tape that I had made with that song on it, along with Aerosmith's - Angel, L.A Guns - The Ballad of Jayne and Skid Row's - 18 and Life (the one who murdered her was 19 when he was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole and his sentencing happened on what would have been Michelle's 17th birthday).
In my young teenage world back then it felt like the entire world knew what happened to her and they all decided to write a song about it.
      Thank you, again ❤

One of my favorite songs ever, of all time, not just the 80’s. The guitar solo went straight to my core as a 9 year old hearing it for the first time, and over 30 years later, having lost three people who were very dear to me, I think it’s just as powerful, if not more so. It doesn’t need words...the sound says it all. Bravo Tom, you surely created a gem the day you wrote this one. And great reaction, Preston...I know what you mean about the song keeping you from saying much! When songs are this powerful, sometimes you just want to immerse yourself!
