- Executive Director, Hans Erchinger-Davis, gives a quick tour of the new Base Camp location on Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham before guests move in! This space will be such a blessing for our friends and neighbors who are homeless. It provides free breakfast, lunch, and dinner, restrooms, laundry, showers, resource referrals, case management, emotional and spiritual support from staff and volunteers, a cafe, and voluntary prayer and Bible studies. Base Camp has room for 200 people to stay the night and is always open. We are so grateful to our community for making this possible!

What a wonderful facility! Very well thought out. I am appreciative of the cooperative efforts of the City of Bellingham and the Lighthouse Mission. This will be a true blessing, particularly during the cold, wet winters. I also appreciate that this is not an end solution; rather a first step toward ending one’s cycle of homelessness.
Thank you, Joseph! It is an amazing blessing.
Great job!
Hans you look great, so happy to see the lighthouse expanding its been a long time coming. I'm gonna have to make a special trip to come visit.
Thanks so much!
wonderful video, I used to shop this store when it was a Safeway in the 1970s, the design is classic "Marina" style, so glad to see the building is in such good shape and that some of the original aesthetics are still visible
any update on the progress of this
We continue to serve our friends and neighbors who are homeless. About 150 stay here each night. Here is more information about Base Camp: www.thelighthousemission.org/what-we-do/base-camp/
This is SO impressive! Are other nearby cities doing this? Lynden? Ferndale?
Just here in Bellingham as far as we know!
I’m glad this is no longer my home
The facility is a real nice place and welcoming. Im glad that there is one if needed. The one thing i didn't like was that the men have more of an advantage to sleep in more beds then the woman do. From what i heard women had 60 beds and the men had 140 beds. Im aware that men tend to have better care and more privileges than women do in a lot of places. Can you tell me why that is?
Good question, Gwendolyn. Those numbers are correct and the reason for it is that more men come in to use our services than women. All people receive equal care here.
Much needed
It's a stepping stone for homeless all over Downtown. Bye Bye Bellingham. "Day time hang out room" ...sounds like the break room at a make believe job. He didn't say one word about drug use...Nice Idea... wrong place.
Hunting also baits a given prey.. Time was when mankind could find
an Arrow label shirt for that.. If you can't take a joke... don't wear it
I don't trust this guy...
we don't trust you either.
A natural instinct. Not dogma or an uncommon belief.
Thank you for taking on chores of being a Soul Eater .
I'm not going there, homeless or not, because I ain't got religion and ain't no grip on me.
Until church religion again put people like me into their Stocks or Stockade I'll walk free.
I don’t support this. Send them to Portland
