Yep, childhood memory and continuous memory for me since 1983 when my Dad used it.. I used it in 1985 in my sweet, like new 1970 383 Magnum powered Charger 500,loved that car so much I still have it!
I've wanted some Mickey Thompson valve covers for a Chevrolet 350 ever since I was a child never could find any I finally found a set at a swap meet in Evansville Indiana for $25 and I got them
jimmiebrown5014 I got a set of M/T's for the Christmas of 1976. To go on my first car .A 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS. They came from Garden Grove Racing Equipment . Which later became a part of the Super Shops speed dealerships chain.
Hey David, thanks for all you do for us! My first car in 1984 was a pristine 1968 Camaro; a plain jane 327 with a powerglide, but nicely optioned. As a 16 year old, I really had no business having this, as it was really too nice for a kid with no clue. I proceeded to hot rod it, and it met an untimely death two years later, when I was T-boned at an intersection. I no longer drive, as I am legally blind from a very invasive brain tumor, so seeing your content and the content of your fellow motor trend peeps and all the others out there that do thus is something that makes me happy. You and Finnegan, along with 187 Customs, are my faves. I hope whomever wins this car will enjoy it to the fullest! Thanks again!
Finally after 2 1/2 months my 1970 pontiac bonneville 455 convertible is running and driving. After sitting in a barn since 1989 I bought it and Replaced fuel tank and lines fuel pump , rebuilt carburetor, replaced all brakes and lines replaced radiator, replaced tires replaced Trans cooler lines transmission filter, transmission Governor gear . Finally drove it and have been driving it. "DONT GET IT RIGHT JUST GET IT RUNNING " montra . Such a great platform to make it even better over time ! With tons of motivation from ROADKILL GARAGE EPISODES! THANKS DF YOUR A TRUE INSPIRATION.
Cool to see ya in the driveway getting it done. I don't have car buddies anymore. Im dragging on getting my ranger v8 swap done, appreciate the kick in the butt.
Mike-Olds-1 I'll paint any car any color for $29.95 no ups no extras. Some people who lived down the street I grew up on. Did a Earl Scheib paint job on their 67 Chevy Nova wagon Apparently the no ups no extras was using masking tape. Cause they didn't. They sprayed the door handles and both door mirrors. But over time the paint finally wore off of both.
I love this video, Takes me back to my first car a 1968 Camaro I bought in 1979-80 got the car before I got my license. I did a lot of what David was doing, the memories flooded back to me. It had a 327 not a power house. Had green paint-ish on it with the multi colors of primers and bondo every where, but what fun it was to build and rebuild after a few wrecks. Like a young fool that I was, I used it as a trade in on a 1979 corvette in 1983. Have regretted it ever since. I hope I WIN....
I grew up in the mid-Atlantic. My next door neighbor bought a new’72 Chevelle when he returned from VietNam. Both rear quarters were rusted out by 1978. He repaired them and painted the car in his yard. They were rusted out again by ‘82. He gave the car to a relative & bought a base model ‘82 Camaro.
@alantrimble2881 my dad went to college to miss the war. Finally in 90 he restored a 67 GT 390 4spd fastback Acupoco blue stang, i was like 12, awesome car. 65 289 4sp fastback when I was 16, daily driver condition but fun.
This brings back a lot of memories I bought my 1968 Camaro when I was 11 years old rebuilt the 327 several times drag raced it detonated number eight cylinder wall blew the side out then I sold it big mistake I wish I had it back I paid $1,000 for it I worked a lot of farms mowed a lot of yards and did all kinds of other stuff just to save up this money but I paid cash
Us old mechanics are a dying breed. I have a clients car that was here at my home, I am a master mechanic from the 80's, now I am in Victoria Australia, my client, a Barrister lives in South Australia. His car is a 1974 JG34 XB Fairmont that I am turning into a GT clone. Now he called me one day and asked me to deliver the car to his mechanic in S.A so he could register it in that state (makes sense right?) Here's the thing though, I made a few parts, such as bushings for the column shift linkages, I changed the idler arm and did a few other minor things. It still required some work, but I figured his mechanic could handle it before I got it back to strip it and begin the restoration. I dropped it off and told the guy, "I want this under cover at all times and take the rotor button out and hide it in your toolbox". His reply, "What the hell is a rotor button?" Not even kidding. Damn OBDII parts getter is all he is. As you can imagine, the car is still in S.A and now my client wants me to go get it again, fix all the issues and drive it back. What a HEADACHE!
I used to ride around in a 69 malibu 4 door with a 230 and three on the tree, and that thing was fantastic. The 230 is actually a great engine, I really miss the car even though it had absolutely nothing, manual everything, and the original radio delete panel 😂 only code on the tag was for the KPH speedo as it was sold new her in Bergen, Norway xD
I'm the same (roughly) age as David and have had the same love affair with muscle cars since 1980 - thankfully, still have a couple. I truly struggle with the prices of these cars - these days. My mind still thinks of a car like this Camaro, as a $2,500 car, perhaps less. I just can't shake that thinking. $15k is a hard pill to swallow for me, but I realize that's what these cars cost nowadays, especially when many, very nice muscle cars, bring low six figures - without even trying. Oh well. As silly as it sounds, I always say, I couldn't even afford to buy the muscle cars I currently own :-)
Watching this with my wife, she pointed out that Dave and I are wearing the same shirt. We are maxing out our entries in hopes that she’ll get it so we both have Camaros
Nailed it 😮😮😮 Wheels look awesome with that green. What a sweet car someone is going to be REAL HAPPY with that thing. Maybe you should have signed those wonderful parts that didn't fit and just gave them away randomly, just a thought. Looking forward to next week 😀 😮
15 ,,, well probably not what I would have paid for it but with all the TV shows that have been on every body and there sister thinks that they have gold . So me personally I would have probably paid 5 maybe up to 8 for it but supply and demand has really driven up the price of good iron these days . That being said it’s worth what you pay if you want it and can injoy it. Love your work and your videos please don’t go away and keep up the good work
I always use lighter fluid for removing adhesive residue. Personally, in the past, a lot of my wheel and tire combos came from Pick-A-Part, so this new set here I would consider quite the step up in appearance and quality.
David, If you ever have time, which I know you probably don’t. Please try and do some more podcast’s! Most of your videos I play while I’m doing things around the house or in the garage just to hear the stories and your point of view of past experiences. Would definitely make long drives a ton better!
The cranking compression is great . Exactly what it would be in a healhy 8.5 to 1 engine . Also if you listen to the compression strokes , they all match each other respectively so you can hear each cylinder is good with equal readings within 10 % of 3ach other
I had a 69 plain jane Camaro but factory 327 and 4 speed. It was Fathom Green, about that same color as your 68. I had bad luck the whole time I owned that car. It got side swiped (NOT my fault) but I fixed it, repainted it and put the hockey stick stripes on in gold. I loved it but I trashed the 327 (too many missed shifts...) got a 350 4 bolt main "Oh it's all machined and just needs put together". NOT. It rattled like a diesel at idle. Tore it apart again and found one bank was 6 thou over and the other side was 8 thou over. Remachined and new parts, then spun a rod bearing...twice, (my fault for not checking the rods for straightness). That time it took some time to make enough $$ to get it going again. Finally back together and it ran great. Clutch was slipping a little. Memphis Motorsports Park had just opened and I wanted to take it down the track but wanted a new clutch first. Then it spun out on rain slick road and into a telephone pole dead center in the rear, smashed all the way up to the back window. I decided green cars were bad luck for me. Never bought another green car. And I never did get to the track...with any car...LOL
3M adhesive remover will get stripe off as it loosens adhesive , and it removes your glue . Comes in a spray or a quart from your pro paint shop . Not cheap any longer, but you'd not have all this trouble using all these non working products . Kudos though you haven't lost your mind on this particular project !
I'm going to road trip it all the way back to Montana 🤘 I live by that cool little country market you guys stopped at driving the raunchero in cascade, about an hour and a half from the border off the 15. I really enjoy your videos and of course Roadkill/Roadkill garage
As far as light vinyl goo removal goes I've found that certain wax removers or ceramic coat prep products remove residue from automotive paint without damage VERY well
I use the 3M eraser wheel to remove badges on all my new vehicles. Chase it with goo gone and isopropyl alcohol afterwards to get rid of the oily residue from the goo gone.
Well Dave , the stripe , as it moves toward the front , the decal will conform to the correct angles due to the center peak and it's contour . However , it may also not be correctly made . Also 3M ADHESIVE REMOVER is what you want to use ! It doesn't take paint off
Rallyes or US slot mags would be great , and back in the day We ran Cragars up front and chrome reverse rims I rear which was the race look . This was on my 64 original 327 hardtop Nova
Dave I'm a FORD Mustang man, not a Camaro fan. But this I like. If I had money I'll be buying It. But being retired I'd never be able to afford that. Can't wait to see you do much more on this car,Leave it Straight 6, or put a small block in it, I don't care, I like the car Just don't change the color.
VR1 is a good flat tappet oil. Just do a Dino oil drain interval because they reduced the detergent package to increase the wear package. Detergent and wear additive package scompete for the same surface area, so you can’t have high levels of both.
Fof adhesive removal, use 3m emblem and adhesive remover. It comes in a pint can with a cotton swab iirc. I used it extensively on my project restoration. It even took out the goo that holds the outside rear view mirror glass in. 08984
Man i used to buy cars like that for a few hundred dollars. I bought my 69 442 conv for 600 and still own it today. Imagine these cars were less than 3k new.
Im still watching, so I dont know how this end, but watching you struggle with cleaning that sticky off the car. I suspect that with the right approach, and copious amounts of effort, any of those would work, however.... When dealing with sticky, whip out the slippery (vegetable oil, baby oil, lard, whatever you got...) If it has a little bit of solvent to it (like most oils) that helps too. I use paper towels to clean up, they are disposable, and have good tooth to help remove material. You will always have an oily residue to clean up, but that always cleans up with any soap and water. Always win the battle of sticky with slippery.
Hey David, on the next one limit the etch primer to only the metal. It’ll cause you future paint problems when it’s sprayed over plastic filler. But that’s ok, I’ll fix it once I win it!
I could smell the gunk engine degreaser when you were spraying it. What a childhood memory.
Yep, childhood memory and continuous memory for me since 1983 when my Dad used it.. I used it in 1985 in my sweet, like new 1970 383 Magnum powered Charger 500,loved that car so much I still have it!
Smell it for days, stuff will have you looking for a diesel fuel leak on a gas engine 😂
Honestly wasn't sure how a DF UA-cam would be, but it's great. You have the ultimate video personality for motorheads. Good job and congrats!
David thank you for doing youtube! i now have more to look forward to in life :)
I've wanted some Mickey Thompson valve covers for a Chevrolet 350 ever since I was a child never could find any I finally found a set at a swap meet in Evansville Indiana for $25 and I got them

How you find enough hours in a day to do all that you do is amazing
Pretty good deal considering most 67-69 Camaros on the market right now don’t run for 15k
Hey David, thanks for all you do for us! My first car in 1984 was a pristine 1968 Camaro; a plain jane 327 with a powerglide, but nicely optioned. Oooooo bet she's a BEAST
What color? I'm a pontiac guy lol
@vannjunkin8041 verdoro green and sandalwood trim code 67 . I was able to find original window sticker n98 rally wheels 2 with jl2 front disc brakes
@@vannjunkin8041 burnouts on demand
Cool to see ya in the driveway getting it done. I don't have car buddies anymore. Im dragging on getting my ranger v8 swap done, appreciate the kick in the butt.
This is what David does best.. thanks for sharing your passion mate. Watching from Australia
D/F the new King of Thursday UA-cam!
Nice job, I love that there are still beater daily driven Camaros out there
I want this car so bad. Manual steering, manual brakes, and it's even green on green! So choice. Just needs a 4-speed + SBC swap to be complete.
From crusher to f bomb... dave is the camaro king
Looks like maybe it got the ole Earl Scheib paint job back in the day 👍
A few times
Mike-Olds-1 I'll paint any car any color for $29.95 no ups no extras. Some people who lived down the street I grew up on. Awesome Camaro. Love the work you did to it. Wheels and tires can make a BIG difference. Thanks for posting!

Must be nice to have that weather. Daily that up here and it woulda rusted into the earth by like '72. Lol ugh
@grabasandwich i have a '14 SS, but it's not the same. I miss the smell, the sound, the history.
I grew up in the mid-Atlantic. My next door neighbor bought a new’72 Chevelle when he returned from VietNam. Both rear quarters were rusted out by 1978. David I think that the camaro looks a lot better than the beginning when you got it.... I like the rims and tires and the color of the car...
Thanks!
@TheDavidFreiburger I watched the show from day one with the mercury cougar that Steve has now then the crop duster
Glad you decided to remove the rear bumper to paint the rear panel. Looks good. 👍

I like the make over, and I would leave the straight six in it also. Looks great wouldn't change much.
I had one of those 250s in a 77 Camaro back in the 80s.
Definitely would not win any races, but it got me down the road all right . 👍
I like the front bumper.
I can never get so lucky.I just wish I could get my late Father's 72 column shift car going, but that's a sweet ride
I used to ride around in a 69 malibu 4 door with a 230 and three on the tree, and that thing was fantastic. I bet Dulcich is proud of that paint and body work.
Earl schiebs custom deluxe paint job lol
That shirt’s great, I’d vote for y’all!
15 is low honestly. Find another nowadays. Absolutely love it, definitely entering for this..
I agree with 2" lower in the front and 1" in the rear but moving in the right direction for sure! Keep up the good work
It’s perfect in every way. Can’t wait to road trip it home.
Wheels look good.

I love the first gen Camaros! Just my own personal preference I like the raised white letters turned out.
Just bought a shirt. Thanks Frieburger
Aww man your dog is so pretty!
Oh and zippo fluid for the goo. Works pretty good and no paint damage.
He’s an Alaskan Husky
@TheDavidFreiburger he's utterly flawless. Please tell him I said he's a good boy.
Use a clay bar that takes stickers and adhesives off vehicles. Brake cleaner works well on road tar
Nailed it 😮😮😮

Great Vid.. ( love the * Low Buck How Too *.. Huge Improvement.. ( to me..) the stance the car ended up with ?? Is Perfect..
I just put the exact same wheels on my 69 continental I really like them.
Pretty cool...thanks for sharing. And $15K is probably pretty good for it...seems pretty solid and it runs.

250 -6 is a good little engine. In good condition they have decent power and good economy and are as dependable as it gets
Lol loved the music selection, Keep after it David. Awesome content so far.
I always use lighter fluid for removing adhesive residue. Personally, in the past, a lot of my wheel and tire combos came from Pick-A-Part, so this new set here I would consider quite the step up in appearance and quality.
nice freshen up what a fantastic little car just right for a daily

46:02 your dog is very patiently waiting to go for a ride
Had to sell my 68 Dart summer daily, best believe I'm going to enter the maximum amount of times for this lil guy 🤘
Excellent Stay Tuned / Tony Angelo "We're gonna lose the shop!" shirt there, too.
Definitely a front bumper dude!
Would love that car! We would pay far too much for that here in New Zealand!! Keep up the great content.

3M adhesive remover will get stripe off as it loosens adhesive , and it removes your glue . Comes in a spray or a quart from your pro paint shop . As far as light vinyl goo removal goes I've found that certain wax removers or ceramic coat prep products remove residue from automotive paint without damage VERY well
The vinyl would have to be applied dry for those curves, wet is good for flat surfaces and when you're not using application tape.
I use the 3M eraser wheel to remove badges on all my new vehicles. Chase it with goo gone and isopropyl alcohol afterwards to get rid of the oily residue from the goo gone.
I love it. Those 6's were pretty sweet.
Well Dave , the stripe , as it moves toward the front , the decal will conform to the correct angles due to the center peak and it's contour . However , it may also not be correctly made . Also
3M ADHESIVE REMOVER is what you want to use ! It doesn't take paint off

VR1 is a good flat tappet oil. Just do a Dino oil drain interval because they reduced the detergent package to increase the wear package. Detergent and wear additive package scompete for the same surface area, so you can’t have high levels of both.
Keyboard mechanic here, compression testing should be done with throtttle wide open, 😆
I was assembled in 67 can't go wrong with a late 60's model!😂
A comment to help the algorithm
Love the content man. Keep it coming
Thanks!
I used mineral spirits to remove the adhesive from crown vic police cars. Worked great!!!!
I remember the comet tip in car craft back in the day from you 👍
Yes camaros, dodge darts and the 6 cylinder early mustangs also escape getting beat to death
I like it, hopefully I win. I would put a rear spoiler on it if so.
re:glue removal, i've always had great luck with zippo fluid
Fof adhesive removal, use 3m emblem and adhesive remover. It comes in a pint can with a cotton swab iirc. I used it extensively on my project restoration. It even took out the goo that holds the outside rear view mirror glass in. 08984
The cheapest tar and glue remover works just as well as the over priced 3M stuff, you'll get a lot more for your money too.
Puppy looking at you like less talk more work....im ready to cruise Dave 😂
You have used the eraser wheel before on the orange road runner. You and dulcich took off the roadrunner decal from the sail panel.
Zippo Lighter fluid removes all tape and goo. :)
That's going to make a great project for someone. Great thing to do.
She is definitely looking way better!!!!
Andz I would be proud to roll around in that. It's my type of daily. Cool and I don't have to freak out if it picks up a little bit of KMart Rash.
That air filter toss was perfect
Icky sticky unstuck. A friend with a sign shop uses it.
I like the front bumper on the car
I'd drive it. Like the wheels and tires with the front end drop.
Amazing how much more camaro brings over a firebird. I would easily let my 1967 firebird 4 speed 400 go for that price.
Are we ever going to meet your family??? Like to see Dulcich’s crew too!! Love u guys!!
I like the wheels, but they do remind me of the factory wheels on the 77 Cutlass Sierra we had when I was a kid...
Camaro looks great
Always love seeing other people blow money on junk parts. Thanks for the laughs.
Man i used to buy cars like that for a few hundred dollars. I bought my 69 442 conv for 600 and still own it today. Imagine these cars were less than 3k new.
It's times like these I wish I didn't live in Scotland 😞 Best of luck to whoever wins the Camaro.

Very enjoyable episode Dave 👍!!!
I would repaint green and mint it out!
Been waiting all day for this to drop!!!!
Hey David, on the next one limit the etch primer to only the metal. It’ll cause you future paint problems when it’s sprayed over plastic filler. But that’s ok, I’ll fix it once I win it!
I ordered a shirt. The camaro is as good as mine 😂. Awesome video David!
