Special Agents, Prosecutors and Politics: New Jobs Open in San Francisco

As most of you may know, I scan USAJOBS daily. A new position of Attorney has opened with the US Capitol Police in San Francisco. Why would the Capitol Police, who work on Capitol Hill need an attorney in San Francisco? The answer is to serve as a special prosecutor for the US Attorney in San Francisco to prosecute threats against members of Congress. Unfortunately for the taxpayers, there is only one member of Congress in SF and that is the Speaker.

I agree. Obviously I don’t want any harm to come to any politician regardless of their politics… but I do think it’s wasteful & absurd for any politician to pull federal employees as their own personal attorney.

Greetings. Question for you. Situation is as follows: 36 years old, working for VA POLICE as a GS-0083-06. Going to be 37 next year. Came to VA police after local full time police experience, also a non-veteran (no veterans preference), will be 37 before full first year of federal service. Does the minimum age requirement of 37 still apply for the pursuit of 1811 or any other 6(c) LEO FERS COVERED positions? Rumor is that we can be over age 37 if we’re already a federal employee, regardless that the va police position is non-LEO retirement covered. Any factual information would be helpful!
