    This is from a US Marshal that I know “So they run rotations with court ops, prisoner ops and task force. Normally you do 4 months of each as your Deputy development program for the first year. After that you will do everything as needed. Most deputies decide which one they like best and just do that. Some guys prefer court and transport and some only do warrants and investigations. I haven’t done court except for high risk trials in years. All I do is task force”

    CBP was heavily hiring for 2 years straight on USAjobs, i went through the process and backed out because their start pay is really bad if you live in California, and your choices are LA, San Fran. Basically really expensive city's. Every CBP i know, was trying to transition to local LE in Cali cause local LE here pays 100k+ easily starting off with far far better retirement and benefits..and in low cost of living areas in Cali...easily 80k+ starting.. the problem is it's easier to qualify for CBP then local LE. Border Patrol seems like a better stepping stone in federal LE.

      Border Patrol is a very solid place to get your foot in the door in federal law enforcement, and I personally think it’s a much better gig than being a city cop these days.

    • @BuiltForSin0
      @BuiltForSin0 2 роки тому +1

      @@brandoncortezemmanuel357 I agree, its the better entry level job to get very good quality experience in Federal LE, most even stay there. CBP not so much, because the nature of the job, it doesn’t translate to any real LE work.

      @@BuiltForSin0 The academy for BP is also very top notch IMO. I have friends who work for OFO (CBP Officers) and some of them love it and there’s nothing wrong with that, one advantage is that in OFO you get much more variety in location around the country, you’re not exclusively locked to the borders. Plus they make a ton of money on OT. But I prefer being handed a GOV and told to go track sign up in the mountains of the desert.

    • @BuiltForSin0

    If you work for Border Patrol, what are the chances/ options of getting away from the southern border after several years of service there?
    Or should you just expect to work in the south for your career?

    What all do you know about FBI police officers?

  • @JACCO20082012
    @JACCO20082012 2 роки тому +18

    CBP evidently has a 66% failure rate for polygraphs.
    It's sad because a lot of otherwise really good applicants get booted over junk science and egotism. A lot, not all, of polygraphers are like chiropractors too in that they believe that the polygraph is an all purpose infallible tool that can't be beat and you can't convince them otherwise. It truly does depend on your individual polygrapher and even people who tell the truth can fail because they are "too honest" and have reactions to questions because they think about the time they were 6 and stole their friend's gum.

    • @brandoncortezemmanuel357
      @brandoncortezemmanuel357 2 роки тому +5

      The CBP polygraph needs to go, or have some big change, I heard a story of a former Air Force One pilot who flew Bush Jr around applied for the office of Air and Marine Operations (AMO) under CBP and he failed the polygraph.

    • @JACCO20082012
      @JACCO20082012 2 роки тому +4

      @@brandoncortezemmanuel357 polygraph exams in general need an overhaul. If they are going to make decisions on hiring based on them, there needs to be a quantifiable standard. Right now there is not. And CBP is just above the TSA in terms of competency anyway and that is a big part of the reason why.
