@Johnathan Stoker no joke I can't tell you the number of times on one of the Allied missions where you have to keep Tanya alive where the the Tesla Coil charging sound became the "well I just failed that one," sound.
Yeah, and it got me thinking if there was a self-powering weapon like that the part you'd have to start replacing would be some kind of fuse that absorbs transients between the generator and the output. In Evangelion an HID rifle is shown (mecha sized) and it's "round" is actually a fuse/bus that works by turning to plasma during the weapon's cycle in a Z-machine like fashion; the plasma then acts as the actual conductor, naturally this works once and is ejected like a rifle cartridge. It does imply large and routine variations between the generator's output and the weapon's intended or at least maximum output but that could very well be the nature of energy weapons, getting at the unstable Big Energy and weaponizing it at all would be the point of even making a real one rather than finding a way to reinvent the wheel so to speak.
The Hub Defense systems that the laser turrets are part of contains nanoassembly technology to rebuild the turrets, the same technology used to construct the other structures and vehicles.
Good stuff! One thing of note, if I remember correctly, is that laser weaponry was more viable for Nod due to their mastery of tiberium-based power sources - which could explain why such weaponry would be impractical for GDI.
Nod will always have the superior laser and stealth tech, because they were the focus of Kane's research aside from tiberium. It's as if he knows how such technology should work and is trying to recreate them from scratch.
I wonder if Nod had a monopoly on Stealth and Laser technology because they had a better understanding of Tiberium as an energy source that could fuel these weapons and make them more practical. Of course the extraterrestrial angle isn't a bad one.
As far as my understanding goes, the crashed alien ship that contained the Tacitus in Tiberian Sun, Kane had access to well before and going into the First Tiberium War.
Those lasers are superior only because the C&C universe doesn't allow GDI to use ceramic composite armor and highly polished surfaces. Hell, even a fog machine or glass of water can defeat a laser. I imagine a real GDI assault against an Obelisk would include stopping at the local Party City before going to the assault staging area.
@@StudleyDuderight This comment maybe 6 months old, but I don't think "lasers" in C&C are similar in function and misidentification to "turbolaers" and "lightsabers" with the former NOT being a laser at all (more like a condensed plasma bolt with the yield of a missile and an ammo capacity of a practically unlimited) and the latter is not made of light as all (at least when you compare it to light constructs of the forerunner) . You mean the Confessor Cabal Squad? They are upgraded with "Charged Particle Beam" weapons. Particle beams and lasers aren't exactly the same thing. I was originally going to include them in the video but decided it would be better to do a separate video with particle beam and ion weapons together. The map is called Limited Access. I like how you actually explained the definition of lasers scientifically... for me the most accurate explanation was the obelisk one... you explained every piece of it... also you forgot to explain that they could also like merge the laser weapons with tiberium and make an even more powerful weapons for nod... just like the black hand basic unit when you do the tiberium laser upgrade thingy i forgot what it was called lol...anyway... amazing video as always.
Edit: also that base at 3:33 looks kinda dope... which map is this?
You mean the Confessor Cabal Squad? They are upgraded with "Charged Particle Beam" weapons. Particle beams and lasers aren't exactly the same thing. I was originally going to include them in the video but decided it would be better to do a separate video with particle beam and ion weapons together.
The map is called Limited Access. Top left corner starting location.
Jethild thanks for the map and also the info :)
Yeah i did mean the confessor cabal squad... I don’t play a lot of black hand that why i forgot its name
Jethild also is the gdi railgun related to the “Charged Particle Beam”?
@@3arooshy465 As I understand it, railguns and particle beam weapons are similar in that they are ballistic weapons. Main difference being that a rail gun fires a large ballistic round, where as a particle beam weapon fires, well, clumps of particles at high speeds. But it's definitely something I will have to do more research on.
Jethild ok i got more questions but I won’t ask anymore cuz i know I’ll find the answers in your next video. Keep it up your gaining a sub wave :)
Beam cannon charges onto the obelisk of light also increase its firing range, not only a rate of fire and damage output.
Think of how Tesla Troopers do it in Red Alert 2 and 3...
Which would also be used for both the Tesla Tank and Stingray in Red Alert 3...
3:06 in tiberium sun you can shut off the laser fence and then turn it on just as something passes through it will instantly kill infantry and probably damage vehicles.... so yeah
U cant turn of laser fence
But firestorm complex
@@grimmshredsanguinus2915 use the power down option
@@sheilaolfieway1885 protip move
@@sheilaolfieway1885 oh u mean this way
@@grimmshredsanguinus2915 yeah you can like blow up nod buggies with it I think.
Can you do a video about the obelisk of light and all the cyborgs he used in the fire storm crisis please
Man I miss renegade
Excellent video. I would ask you to please add Spanish subtitles for the Spanish and Latin community who are fans of the c & c world.
Translator with translator U
Ah, it seems our host is a nod fanatic!
Tfw you just want to watch some videos about C&C but accidentally learn how something works irl.
I personally like the Steel talons, but when I play as not i capture the nearest GDI war factory and get some apcs with the black hand's militant rocket squads in them, never seen something prettier
Next, I suppose, GDI's Railgun Weapons, which I believe is the most devastating weapon in the game (at least on 3), almost nothing can stop a mammoth charge, I suppose only twice the number of obelisks or several upgraded ones.
Enough Venoms can beat anything
@@sethb3090 One shockwave blast and it's over for the venoms, hey, no single unit is unbeatable on the game, I just said that the Mammoth is most survivable one, the only real counter to it with few drawbacks are the ones I listed above.
Speaking of the Forgotten, there is a mod about the Forgotten and the faction mod is very interesting. Can you do a video about the faction and also a overview of there military tactics, technology and arsenal?
Check out renegade x for the high detail models of the weapons, vehicles and structures
Will do.
