Awesome video!!! Really appreciated! My linkage broke and I was not able to find a used part for my 1970 F350 Dump truck. Will try to covert like what you did.

Glad you are enjoying the videos Vernon!
I initially was hunting for a ‘67… they are pretty cool with their one year only features, but they are tough to come by!
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching! 👍🏻

When a friend of mine and I pulled the 360 out of my 69 F100, I was rushing to get it out before we ran out of daylight, and my dumb ass just pulled the rods out, not paying attention to the way they were set up. 3 rods; which one goes where and in what direction(s)? It took me a good long while to figure it out. And in the past, I've witnessed the whole 'motor jumping off the mounts' thereby pulling the throttle wide open! while everyone scrambles madly screaming shut it off! Shut it off! So exciting! :-D So as I contemplated that one rod, that attaches to the firewall, that's when it dawned on me that it's designed to prevent that, and I thought "that's actually pretty cool!". I left mine on because I'm a nerd who likes to see factory stock and I admire the ingeniousness that goes into creating these mechanical wonders. I wish I had seen this video when I was scratching my head though, it would have made the process of reinstalling the 'rat trap' much simpler.

Yes; it really was an interesting design! Someone was certainly thinking outside the box when they came up with it.
If you take it off and juggle it around it certainly doubles as a mind puzzle trying to figure out which way everything went hahaha
I kept the original and if I ever get bored on a rainy day I may try to rebuild it.
Thanks for the comments Robert! 👍🏻

The original linkage is designed (engineered) to prevent the throttle going wide open if the motor mount breaks. At which point, the engine stands up under the torque, which pins the throttle to the floor! Not good. Maybe you over rev the engine... and snap something, maybe you slam into whoever is in front of you!, or maybe you just fly off the road at high speed? Just like Mr Majestyk right? Yeee haw....!

That is correct! However; the old linkage was binding quite badly and was just as likely to cause the very same issue.
The probability of this clapped out 360 shearing off a motor mount is pretty slim. Ford abandoned the trapeze in favour of the cable throttle in subsequent years, and I had one of those bind up on me… Makes for a good Adrenaline rush!
Just gotta be smart enough to kill the ignition… or practice your duke boys “yeeeehawwwww”
“If you ain’t living on the edge you’re taking up too much space” 😉
      Thanks for watching 👍🏻

That happened to me years ago with a 69’ f100. I modified the linkage just like this and had a motor mount break in a busy parking lot. I stood on the brakes and it started smoking the tires boy were people giving me some disapproving stares!😂 once I realized what was happening I just reached down and killed the key, felt the engine sit back down and replaced the mount later that day. Pretty exciting situation for a moment

@@whiskeycreekcustoms6296 The reason yours was binding is because you are missing the the second spring that attaches to that open hole on the top over to a bracket on the carb.
