I have the full set of Graphitint pencils and love them. They also work well together with standard watersoluble graphite pencils. You can use a 4B or 6B watersoluble graphite pencil to add some nice shading and textures to the Graphitint layers.
Decidedly a thumbs UP! You give such detailed tutorials and in QuickTime too! I am becoming more and more swayed by your use of multiple mediums! I have usually tried to stay within one medium at a time, Not mixing them up. The one place I have usually broken this "rule" has been watercolor pencils. I like going in with the pencil after painting to get details as I have had troubles getting my brush to be as steady as I want it to be and stroking down a line or detail with a pencil is just easier! I do enjoy watching and listening to your videos and just want to say Thanks Lindsay! Please take care and have a Lovely Day!
Of all the art tutorials/videos on UA-cam I have noted that you are the most comprehensive teacher out there. You truly encourage the use of "all" of our supplies & in ways we may not have thought about before. And you provide the most extensive subject matter for the art work. I subscribed to your Critique club & the Watercolour Crayon course - but have only had the time to do one project so far. But I will start trying to chunk out some time. I learn so much from your videos. Thanks Lindsay...looking forward to Sat Chat....LOL Take care
Lovely birdie! My next sketchbook is going to be bird studies. I'm almost finished with my sea creature sketchbook. I had my graphitint pencils out last night! I created one of those neurographic things in a sketchbook and used the inktense pencils to color in the blobs. I used the graphitint as shadows. Came out great! Now I'm using prismacolor pencils to finish it off. You are a fount of inspiration to me!
I really love using my derwent charcoal colors. I feel like it layers better than watercolors, and as you said, the white included really helps brighten up a piece. I had to buy another white (chalk) stick because I used it too much.
Ooooh I soooo love my Graphitint. I'm going to have to try this. Not that mine will turn out anything like yours (in fact, I'm positive it will look like a blob in the shape of an owl haha), but still I want to try! Need to use those Graphitints more! Thank you so much for an awesome tutorial!
While Lindsey, I'm so impressed. Such a very professional tutorial. Based. On this video, I think I'm gonna have to rethink. My decision on the chromaflo. Pencils. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.!
Thanks for a great video explaining how to use and layer the products. I like your comment of making sure we have enough value contrast. I think I play it safe but will try darkening and using a bigger range of values . Great lesson Lindsay.
Wonderful Lindsay! I wish I could come up with better descriptives than gorgeous, beautiful, love your animals, etc! So I sound like a broken record but I can't help it! This drawing/painting is gorgeous Lindsay! Love it ❤️❤️
Lindsay, thanks very much for showing how to use that wide water brush…I have a couple in my stash and have ignored them as I’ve had no clue how and when to use them! Now I just need some time to get my materials from my stash and create…oh the joys of being a teacher at the end of the school year…must carve out time for painting and drawing. As always, another wonderful video-> you inspire me to keep going. 😊
Beautiful! I actually have these pencils, bought them by mistake thinking they were something else lol oops .. now I’m glad I got them! I can’t wait to try them out. Thank you so much for this great tutorial! You do gorgeous work!
This video is marvellous . Amazingly I passed my art O level - cos the theme for the picture was ‘ A windy day on the beach ‘ - but I could only ever paint TREES ! 🤷♀😂🙈
Beautiful bird. This must be your reference photo as I couldn't find it on pixabay. A hawk can be a sign that one is being looked over and protected from above. Shortly after my husband passed I kept seeing the same hawk in the front yard. And last week I thought about that hawk and one flew above me and landed on a pole as I drove by then you posted this. God is good
I always love your videos and how you show smaller sets. It's a great way to try different mediums. I just ordered the 12 inktense pencils and 24 pan set to try. Your Derwent mix media videos are. great
Enjoy video thanks for sharing your process seems like a really awesome painting to try with my derwent graphtint....do you think a embossing tool would help with added depth to the wings if you could use the embossing tool to add lines to the feather to appear singular feathers?? Thank you for video...mikelle art mom🎨👩🎨✍
These are the easiest I've used. The barrel is larger and is has a soft silicone button on the side to feed out the water. I'm typically not a huge waterbrush fan but these are the best I've tried. You can get them in sets and open stock and they are more expensive than some others do You might try one and see what you think before you buy a set. They are very ergonomic.
Oooh, the want monster. I want some Derwent waterbrushes and all the pan paints, intense, pastel, metallic, and graphitint. And the waterbrushes! I only have a few and they suck. Literally. They suck pigment back into the ferrule part mixing with water. And oh, where did you get your photo reference? 😉
Hi Lindsay, I love this painting! Your advise to me regarding the Derwent watersoluble graphite and Derwent watercolor pencils combined worked really well. I don't have Inktense, so I also used Turner watercolor paints and they worked. Sometimes I do like to add my Prismacolor pencils and even some pastel to a painting to "punch up the color". I just have to be careful not to overwork the painting. Thank you so much for all that you do for us. Your videos always make my day! Question: Will this and other educational videos that you do with Derwent be on their website?
Rewatching all your derwent sets videos trying to figire out should i use reserve watercolor brushes or regular brushes specifically only to be used for said derwent set... do you think you could ever dp a water reserve watercolor brush reviews??so many choices🤔.of wc reserve watercolor brushes.. which one is the one that is easy to hold and doesnt leak and easiness to add water to its barrel.???..mikelle art mom👩🎨🎨✍
The difference is the pigment. Graphitint is color mixed with water soluble graphite. Inktense is super bright, saturated ink. Watercolor is a more softer and muted range. They are different but van be used together.
Beautiful Lindsay! You rock as an instructor as always! 🙏🏾🤩🥰🤩 Can you post the Watercrayon Class Teachable code, pretty please? I tried Lindsay50 but that did not work!?! 🤷🏽♀️😃
Im presuming this will be part of derwent product review? I noticed some people not being able to find lightfast ratings when reviewing? Wich might come in handy for people who sell or if it's used as an underpainting or main focus painting. But I like how these look tho. For me at this point lightfast is verymuch overrated, i dont sell yet. But if it does turn in to a promo might be worth, for both derwent as well as yourself to see if they have (updated? last review I saw was about a year in i think? ) data on these pencils.

Love when you paint and draw birds. Lindsay thanks for a great tutorial. You do capture the personality of the animal.
I love your videos! You always explain what you’re doing and why. I’m just learning and you are a great teacher. Thank you!
Thanks!

Lindsay the bird is beautiful! I love Derwent products and this shows how well so many of them work together! Another great video. 😊
Thanks!
Your painting looks better than the reference! Thank you for sharing this!! It hadn't dawned on me to use water with these yet.
Thanks Lindsey for the tutorial! I have been enjoying using my Graphitint mediums as well! So fun and different!

You and me both!
Thanks Lindsay 💜. I'm on the fence on the pencils since I have the pans. Lovely work. 💜
Honestly I prefer the pans myself
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks 😊
Beautiful! Such a great idea using the tape for a palette. Have a wonderful day 🌼
Excellent! Great job! Great explaining everything you did in creating your art work.
I love this!
Love it! Thank you!
Wonderful image and another excellent tutorial. My wish lists are getting clogged! Thanks as always.

Thanks for another great video.

Re the water brushes, my hands are weak, deformed joints from Rheumatoid Arthritis, are the brushes hard to squeeze water out into the brush???
These are the easiest I've used. The barrel is larger and is has a soft silicone button on the side to feed out the water. I'm typically not a huge waterbrush fan but these are the best I've tried. You can get them in sets and open stock and they are more expensive than some others do You might try one and see what you think before you buy a set. They are very ergonomic.
@thefrugalcrafter Lindsey Weiri
Ordering just one is a great idea. Having a button to push rather than squeezing the barrel sounds easier, for sure.
I really like the pentel aquash water brushes too! I have bad arthritis too and they are very easy to use! I want to try some of the derwent as well!

They have watersoluble graphite in them too.

The lightfast ratings for graphitint are on the PDF color chart on the Derwent website.
@@thefrugalcrafter Well now thats a plus looks like derwent picked up on that early on. Good to know!
