When you say "partnered" you really mean sponsored by Intel x Lenovo. Yes? Because this is a rather unbalanced comparison, a compact 14" vs bulky 16" chassis and thermal dissipation capabilities. No mention whatsoever of package wattage consumption and battery life as you are so often of mentioning in Mac vs Mac reviews. Honest eh?

I use Macbook pro M1 as my work computer and it is an absolutely fantastic machine but I recently bought the Legion Slim 7 AMD version for home use. 32GB + 8 GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD was $1500, a Macbook Pro M3 would have been $5000. The Legion does not have the same battery life as the Macbook but otherwise it is as pleasant and silent as the Mac in normal use.

As someone who uses both Macs and Windows computers I appreciated the raw power comparison for the buck. And, if you're a Mac user you should appreciate it as well. We need to keep Apple accountable for their pricing. It's already well established that Mac laptops are vastly more portable when it comes to battery life and often size/weight. I expect to pay a premium for that, but I don't expect a Windows laptop to wipe the floor with it in performance either and that's exactly what this video showed. Apple must do better on pricing to at least come somewhat closer in price/performance with its competition. This is no good.

This was the shortest laptop test I have ever seen on this channel. I wish Lenovo would have allowed him to say where the machine is lacking. He did mention a diving trackpad which is a BIG deal to me. Battery life was not mentioned. Performance on battery. It is obvious the machine is way larger but there was not a mention that i can think of (in terms of thickness and weight) Like that it has all the ports, all the expansion and all that. I edit my videos on a 15" macbook air with 16GB of ram and 512ssd. It runs very well with Davinci Resolve compared to my intel macbook pro. Battery is excellent and the computer is very cool running. I am sure my computer will not game well but that is not what it is for. Sure do wish it had at least 2 more usb c ports on the machine on the other side.

I still prefer Razor for Windows laptops, particularly because you can test out their laptops with a lot of gaming software in their stores in their gaming rooms. Intel has clearly gone with more power draw on 13th and 14th generation processors to get more performance and I was a bit surprised that there was no battery life testing in the video. Is that in a different video? I'm still rocking the M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16 and still love it and I get 12 hours of battery life for casual use and 6 hours for production. I suspect that the M3 Pro MacBook Pro 16 would give me another hour for production and that would be nice to have but I can carry a tiny charging brick with me to get in 7 hours for my work day.
I looked up the performance per watt comparing the 13900K to the Apple M1 and the Intel chip is 37% the PPW of the M1. I imagine that it's even less comparing it to the M3. That hefty cooling system and large battery allow the performance of the Lenovo.
The fans on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro very rarely come on, even when I'm running my production workload and it is nice to have a cool and quiet system.
I think that a better comparison would have been the MacBook Pro 16 for comparable screen sizes. I also missed speaker, webcam, display and microphone comparisons and there was no indication on whether or not the benchmark runs were on battery or power cord.

Thank you for performing that comparison. The Legion looks great! I need access to both types of computer for work (programming) and I currently have a Mac Studio M2 Max; it's decent, but I could also do with a decent-performing Windows machine, and a laptop could be good for that. Plus it's good for games. (Discord STILL doesn't seem to work properly for me on my Mac when it comes to audio routing - that's probably more to do with Discord than the Mac as I know that OBS works fine with it.)
I think the base models of Macs are usually OK - depending on what you go for - but the price of upgrades and the fact that they are not available ex-stock are both absolutely ridiculous. I like that Macs are usually less power-hungry and quieter, and yet it seems that they're going away from that in the M3 range. (Though I did see a low power-mode setting video recently; might have been yours, I don't remember; that was good to know about!).

This was a great way to show off the pc talking points. Those fans do a great job removing heat from the 150W TDP combo which can’t be fully met by the USBC PD (No Thunderbolt), let alone charge too and 6.1lb featherweight - definitely a buyer with different priorities than the Mac user. Run those benchmarks on battery alone until both machines die and we will see which is the stronger. Even with the almost 30% larger battery in the Lenovo.

As the M3 Pro, being and SOC, would be the same either way , however Intel x86 and Dedicated Nvidia GPU would use way more power and are throttled on Battery.
Despite this, an M3 Pro is not a fair comparison other than price. The Legion Slim should be compared to a Binned M3 Max MacBook Pro 16 and you know it.

It’s the same old story with Windows machines. I am switching to the Mac because of the stability it delivers. The hardware quality, the extended life of the machine, the software upgrades that just don’t ruin everything, the support, the battery., and the so on. You get the best performance now with a Windows machine, but long term, it just dies on you one way or another. Apple’s devices definitely have some limitations, but overall, the experience is far better than any Windows machine can offer, not to mention the ecosystem stuff, of course.

I have very old Macs and Windows machines humming away using them as Plex servers and other esoteric tasks. It's impressive that the Lenovo Legion 7i is faster than the M3 MacBook Pro 14", but the battery life on the Lenovo won't match the MacBook Pro, I have used a MacBook Air and the battery life on that laptop is far better than my Windows machine, so even though the performance is better than the MacBook Pro, the battery life of the MacBook Pro is far better than the Lenovo laptop and because the Lenovo Legion was plugged in, the performance on battery will 50% lower than when it's plugged, making the MacBook Pro the better choice for productivity on battery power.

That said, battery issue here is non-existent because you can take your laptop downstairs, upstairs, to your friends house and just plug it in.
If you however use it for work and take it out form the house more often, then the M3 pro is a no brainer, superior battery life, better display and will get the work done wherever you are.

Way better screen is debatable. Build quality. What does that even mean? And, who caress? I'm not trying to impress anyone with my laptop's "shine". It's not going to fall apart. I've never had a Mac or Windows machine fail due to "build quality".
