I think he's obviously a bonafide virtuoso on guitar. That is a given but his voice aged like a fine wine. I think in true honesty, where he absolutely kills it is in being a remarkable songwriter and storyteller. Add the guitar, vocals and arrangements to any of his penned masterpieces, and it propells his music to another level. This whole collaboration was created over a good few years, 7 or 8, maybe more. The album and subsequent tour was of course, astounding. Great reaction again dude. Getting lost in the vivid worlds Knopfler creates, is on another level.

Wow, you just put all my thoughts about Mark into words! I swear, I need to hire you as my official hype/script man. "Bonafide virtuoso" and "fine wine voice" are spot-on. Thanks for watching!

Hi Larry, I love to see your reactions on Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler! As a drummer you probably missed one exceptional live version of "Sultans of Swing" in your reactions: the version of "Alchemy Live". Terry Williams is on drums at that gig and the story goes that his dad was in the audience for the first time that night so he was thrilled of course as you may find out. He and the entire band is giving one hell of show and Mark's guitar work is from another planet. I guarantee you that this version will be at least an A+ (for me it is a masterpiece :-)) Thanks and cheers from the Netherlands!

Yes, I’m going to get to Alchemy as it’s been recommended here on the channel dozens of times. I like the tidbit about Terry Williams’ extra motivation that night. Thanks for watching.

I think Mark's voice gained something from he and Emmylou working together and it has shown subsequently. Also, his current band has been together nearly two decades longer than Dire Straits was and their work is all top shelf. Really as close to a can't miss deal as you can get. Great reaction, great song.

Totally agree! There's a new 'richness' and warmth to Mark's voice here, thanks for the intel and watching.

Wonderful reaction! Such a great collaboration. The album 'Real Live Roadrunning' has many amazing songs to check out. Mark Knopfler has always been incredible live. He creates something new in every performance - in both Dire Straits and his solo work.

Based on what I’ve heard so far, no arguments. What is a vegemite sandwich? lol. Thanks for tuning in from the same southern hemisphere but across the pacific.

@@llarose Vegemite is a spread you put on a sandwich. People either love it or hate it lol. It's made of yeast and is quite salty so you don't need much. 😎🎸🎸

First thing that caught my attention was Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris?? Really? I had no idea. Then the song was incredible. I don't think I've ever head Mark's vocals that pronounced and clear before. Of course Emmylou Harris is amazing anyway. The accompanying music was spot on. Just a really interesting mix that came off really nice. Glad you reacted to it.

Ditto. I really have no words to express how multitalented this man is. From early years to now. Yes, Emmylou was a songbird and spot on too with Mark’s awesome vocals. A+

Larry, just for something different, could you review "Sailor" and their song "The Secretary", I think you are open minded enough to like it. A great group sadly under rated. Have a good one.

Open to all. Part of the journey on my end, with my small channel here, was/is to start paying attention to different music styles more closely. After I picked up a guitar (because let's face it, you can't have a drum kit accessible everywhere) and started learning how to play - I discovered MK more deeply, and was stunned with his skill, style and soul. Up to that point, he was the dude that did "Money for Nothing" and "Industrial Disease" - good songs, but wow, these songs at Alchemy are off the hook. I'll def. check those others out.
