Lyrics
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in
You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer
And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone
Dragged down by the stone (stone, stone, stone, stone, stone)
I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?
Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer
Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

I got to see this concert in Cleveland Stadium in Cleveland Ohio also my favorite PF LP
That's incredible! Seeing the Animals tour live must have been an unforgettable experience, especially at such an iconic venue - definitely one of Pink Floyd's masterpieces.
Both sound good in their own way. Regards the song itself, it's a giant. A masterpiece as you said. Keep up the great reactions.
Thank you for the kind words. More to come from PF.
Great reaction. It’s understandable to be awestruck by the song, especially given your history with it. Music is a time machine - your comments were well placed and welcome.
I found the remix to be quite nice, the added cleanliness gives it more nuance in my opinion.
Thanks again.
Music really is a time machine. It has this incredible ability to transport us back to specific moments in our lives, and Dogs is one of those tracks that carries so much depth and emotion for me and many others. I'm glad you enjoyed my comments.
I agree with you on the remix-the added clarity does bring out some nuances that were maybe a bit buried in the original
Hi Larry! I lost both of my parents in the last 4 years so I feel your pain bro! The Animals album is also one of my favourite Pink Floyd albums if you are able to get around the youtube copyright algo you should try to upload The Wall studio album reaction imo its far better than the movie and you will love the drumming in it!
I'm really sorry for your loss; losing both parents must have been an incredibly tough experience. The Animals album is such a powerful piece, and it resonates even more during hard times. Thanks for the suggestion about The Wall-I’ve got to agree, the studio album is a masterpiece. I’ll definitely see what I can do about getting around the UA-cam copyright algo. Ugh... Thanks for the support, bro!
Both the original(muddy sound) and the 2018 (bit colder, less emotional) have their strong points. Love both.
I like the original dogs but i prefer the 2018 pigs 3 diff ones, and sheep im undecided both are good.
It’s interesting how both versions bring something different to the table. The original Dogs definitely has that raw, gritty vibe, while the 2018 remix offers a cleaner, more polished sound-there’s something to appreciate in both. As for Pigs and Sheep, both are coming up soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
The remix sounds really nice but I prefer the original version. Something didn't sit well with me with the remixed version, though I can't put a finger on it a the moment.
@@XionLuis My only critique of the sound fidelity is it is a bit bass-heavy. I also agree, the original is also beyond reproach for an era-correct recording. Thanks for chipping in.
I agree 100% I think it sounds too "clinical"...lacks the warmth of the original.
