This is probably the best video I've found that gives me a good idea of how the 4" muffler sounds. Ordered mine 4 weeks ago and they have yet to begun making it yet haha, the waiting is killing me
Matt Rose Thanks Matt, glad you enjoyed the video! This is by far my favorite sounding STI exhaust and the craftsmanship is top notch. It's nice supporting a product made in America as well. Well worth the wait!
wow that sounds sick man. i have the same car and colour, love the DGM. i purchased he nameless delete for mine and now i have to get this thanks for the vid!!
Have you ever been in an STi with the Nvidia r400 or the Q300? If so, how do you think it compares to this nameless setup? I had an r400 on my 18' STi and loved the sounds it made but couldn't tolerate the drone at hwy speeds to the point I've already sold that cat-back. Now I'm a little more hesitant about my next cat-back. I really want to hear UEL burble but I don't want my brains rattled to the point of headaches lol. Any ideas?
Use his setup or one similar to mine. Stock DP, stock midpipe & resonator, and nameless 4” mufflers. Honestly nameless muffler deletes with everything else stock on my SH XT had no drone. I switched to an invidia N1 catback and I get slight drone at highway speeds. But my backseat passengers never complain on trips and my puppy loves the sounds of my subaru lol.
Is this your STi? If so, thoughts on this vs the e90 M3 you owned? I've owned a 2007 and 2011 STi and am currently in an Evo X and am now comparing the 2015 Sti, used e90 M3, f80 M3 or Audi S4. Any and all input is appreciated!
TheApolloK You're very attentive to know my car history, props :) That's actually a really good question. To be completely honest, I never LOVED my E90 M3. It's sort of hard to describe, but it's a very serious car and in contrast the STI is more playful. The STI is make no mistake a lighter car than the M3, but it feels TONS lighter. The STI also feels smaller and I think that helps confidence levels. It changes direction and reacts to steering input beautifully thanks to the quick ratio rack they put in the 2015. The M3 is miles better in refinement though and it has a better seating position. Oh, and don't let me forget, the E90 M3 has perhaps one of the best steering feels of any car I've driven, it just doesn't change direction as eagerly as the STI. The M3 lacks torque down low and that can make it feel comparatively slow in daily driving. The S4 is somewhat of a blend between the M3 and STI. You get the german refinement and the AWD grip. The S4, like the M3, feels big, but with the sport diff it rotates and has LOADS of grip. It's a very easy car to drive fast. It looks great as well having received a lot of compliments during the time I owned it. I have driven an Evo X, but never owned one so my seat time is limited. You will know more about it's strengths and weaknesses than me. What I do remember, however, is how sorted the handling is from factory on those cars. Mitsu did a hell of a job with the Active Yaw Control and their dynamics have historically always been better than Subaru. With the 2015 STI, I think Subaru has gotten REALLY close, but they still don't rotate quite like an Evo. Haven't driven a F80 M3 but it's high on my lists of 'must drives'. A big complain of my E90 was the lack of torque and there is no shortage of torque on the new platform. I do worry though still about how big that car has become. It will also never sound as good as the high reving S65 in the E90. In the end they are all fantastic cars and it really boils down to preference along with what you will use it for. In general, you're going to pay more for maintenance on an S4 than a Subaru, but it's also WAY better to drive casually when you aren't canyon carving. It feels PREMIUM. The M3 has that refinement as well but really feels slow in daily driving and is frankly better suited for the track. The EVO would be on the bottom of the totem pole refinement wise, but performance per dollar it's hard to beat. Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention, you just watch this video so you know how AMAZING the STI sounds with an exhaust. It's an addicting sounds in my opinion and I absolutely love the character it gives the car.
Thank you for the quick reply! I’m sure the 4inch muffler sounds perfect and plenty of loud as well, Cameras never capture the true loudness and quality. How does it sound when you are cruising? Is it still loud? Do you still hear the rumble at cruising speed?😁
+Paul Shouse I have a hero 3. The trick is an external mic. I'm not using the sound from the go pro since, as you said, it's all wind. Hope this helps!
No problem. There is also a conversion cable you can buy from gopro to turn the miniusb port into a 3.5mm jack input. That way you can plug in an external mic directly. This helps save time in editing later.
+Abdulaziz Al Nassar For as loud as it is on throttle, it's actually pretty reasonable at cruising speeds. If you're at all worried about drone you might step up to the 5" mufflers.
ayojjon Thanks! Drone is almost completely non-existent. I'm pretty sure Nameless put a lot of time and engineering into the harmonics and frequency of the exhaust to reduce/eliminate drone. For as good as it sounds at WOT, they did a hell of a job quieting it down while cruising.
EatSleepDrive sweet! I'm stuck trying to decide which exhaust to get. I want one that will be loud outside but almost silent in cabin. Would you be so kind as to link me to where you purchased this exhaust? please and thanks!
ayojjon I bought it directly from the manufacturer. Here is there website. I don't think you can go wrong with thier exhaust. If you're looking for something a little quieter, you can go with the 5" mufflers. You can customize the exhaust they make for you which is a nice touch. shop.namelessperformance.com/
Cassandra Majeskie Are you referring to a 2015 WRX? They switched the 2015 WRX to the new FA series engine which features equal length headers. This is a departure from the 2015 STI and all previous WRX and STI which use unequal length headers. Unequal length gives these car the classic rumble associated with Subarus. The new WRX sounds quite different because of this change.
+Sean Lawrence Drone is almost non-existent with this exhaust. Yes it is louder than stock but you don't get that droney resonance you get with a lot of other exhausts. Nameless claims to spend a lot of time engineering their exhausts. I'm not an engineer so I can't go into technical details however I would say overall they are very successful with my experience with this exhaust.
+MrLpm30 I was a bit confused by that at first, I believe it's designed to fit over the stock donut gasket. So you use both together. No leaks from it so far..
Unfortunately they're basically made to order and they make them in batches so sometimes it take awhile. I waited for a month to get mine. It sucks but it's worth the wait.
When you installed the cat back, does your car run lean or rich? I just installed my midpipe, had axleback first, and couldnt help but smell it running lean or rich. Anything to be concern about? Thanks!!
Typically on an EJ25 a catback alone is well within the limits of the stock mapping to not grenade itself. If you did something like a downpipe then you would definitely want to have the car tuned accordingly. With a catback alone you should have nothing to worry about.
It shouldn't smell too much different if the downpipe is still original. You might have an exhaust leak. Check for black soot at each flange. It would be pretty obvious after awhile.

I’m in that process rn I can’t wait 😑
Unreal! Absolute perfection. Looks and sounds amazing ;) Sti in my future for sure!!
+brooke1232911 Thanks Brooke! You'll enjoy the STI for sure, great car.
Oohh yeah haha Great videos too, thank YOU!!
wow that sounds sick man. i have the same car and colour, love the DGM. i purchased he nameless delete for mine and now i have to get this thanks for the vid!!
+scotie100 Glad you enjoyed it! I love the metal flake they put in the DGM. Looks sooo good clean!
Sounds killer! Single Wall or Double Wall tips? What size?
Did you have to get any ecu retuning? The exhaust shop said if I fully want to utilise my exhaust, it is better to get it retuned for maximum gains.
Sounds amazing. Considering this setup for my '16 STi. Are you'rs the 3.5 or 4" tips?
+KapoTheGreat1 Thanks! they are 3.5" tips.

hope to see you and talk to you. Live in Anderson as well .. just got a 2016 Hyper Blue in October
+Dave Wiesenhahn Killer! Can't miss that color, nice choice.
+EatSleepDrive thanks for the reply
i am around and starting to modify
love the Corsa and 4" tip axle back muff delete by Nameless
so this is all stock? just 4" muffler tips?
Love the sound! Are these 3.5s? How's the drone?
+MagicGuy669 Yes, 3.5" tips. Drone is very reasonable given how good it sounds WOT :)

Is this louder in person? Sounds amazing! I’m debating on the 4inch muffler or the muffler delete🤔
I personally think the muffler delete would be too much drone. The 4" mufflers are plenty loud in my opinion.
Thank you for the quick reply! I’m sure the 4inch muffler sounds perfect and plenty of loud as well, Cameras never capture the true loudness and quality.
How does it sound when you are cruising? Is it still loud? Do you still hear the rumble at cruising speed?😁
So what's the name of that catback? :p
+Ethanmeister You're a clever one :)
haha
Which is louder, 4 inch or 5 inch?
What gopro do you have? And how do you prevent the wind? That's all mine is picking up. I have the Hero session 4
+Paul Shouse I have a hero 3. The trick is an external mic. I'm not using the sound from the go pro since, as you said, it's all wind. Hope this helps!
Yes it did, I will have to do some research. Thanks

Sweet! thanks! I think I'm leaning toward this exhaust. Too bad they don't make burnt tips
awesome car mate, do the cops bother you with the sound?
No, not yet at least :)
how loud would you say this is over stock? im stuck between this an the perrin resonated cbe
+frostmourne1360 It's hard to put a number on hit, however it is much louder than stock.
+EatSleepDrive have you ever another sti with a cobb?
frostmourne1360 Yes, Cobb is quieter than this exhaust.
Is that true 2016 STi version already came with UEL exhaust header?
STI in the USA have always come from the factory with UEL. Japan engines were the only ones with EL.
Did you go from axel back to cutback or just straight to catback?
Mackenzie Andrews This is the full catback so it comes with the midpipe(with resonator) and the axle back with 4" mufflers.
why does this same exhaust sound different on a wrx
I've changed my mind from nameless muff delete to eta extreme
Cassandra Majeskie Are you referring to a 2015 WRX? They switched the 2015 WRX to the new FA series engine which features equal length headers. This is a departure from the 2015 STI and all previous WRX and STI which use unequal length headers. Unequal length gives these car the classic rumble associated with Subarus. Is there drone at idle, street or highway revs?

Hi, did u use the donut gasket that nameless performance provided?
+MrLpm30 Yes.
+EatSleepDrive isnt it too big? There's no leak?
+MrLpm30 I was a bit confused by that at first, I believe it's designed to fit over the stock donut gasket. So you use both together. No leaks from it so far..
+EatSleepDrive alright, got it. Thanks for the help man!
MrLpm30
No worries, glad to help. Enjoy the exhaust!
Hey man how long did it take for them to ship? I ordered mine almost 3 weeks ago..
Unfortunately they're basically made to order and they make them in batches so sometimes it take awhile. I waited for a month to get mine. It sucks but it's worth the wait.
EatSleepDrive Oh I see, do you think it applies to the muffler deletes too? those are the ones I got. I do like how the 4" mufflers sound too!
Yeah probably. They make all their stuff in batches so I wouldn't be surprised. It should sound good!
EatSleepDrive great man thanks. Are you currently thinking of other mods?
Staggered or non staggered 3.5 tips?
+robs1096 Non-staggered.

EatSleepDrive thanks for getting back to me! Did yours get that funky smell out of the exhaust/underneath the car? Its bothering me lol
It shouldn't smell too much different if the downpipe is still original. You might have an exhaust leak. Check for black soot at each flange. It would be pretty obvious after awhile.
EatSleepDrive cool, thanks. I ll keep an eye out for it. Thanks man!
Hey man where at in Ohio are you??
+Eric Taylor Cincinnati. Are you an Ohioan as well?
yeah I'm right outside of Cleveland
Nice, I'm originally from Cleveland and know a fair number of Subaru people up there. Do you belong to NEOSOC?
Stock midpipe ?
It's a full catback so the midpipe is Nameless as well.
EatSleepDrive thank you, sounds nice!👍🏽
