In 2020, Voiceplay lost their high tenor, Earl Elkins Jr for undisclosed personal reasons. Eli (pronounced ELL-ee, short for Eliezer) was singing second tenor. Earl has not been replaced so Eli is now singing whatever the heck they need, his upper range is amazing, I will recommend that you react to their Wicked Medley, it is amazing! Trust me. I subscribed as soon as you reacted to Hoist the Colours. Did we forget to mention that Geoff has a solo channel? When Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay stopped touring, he started doing his solo work. The arrangements, editing, production are all him, as well as all of the harmony. A couple of my favorites are Shenandoah, House of the Rising Sun and Sound of Silence. Trust me!
One on the G# (Cesar), one a third lower (Omar), then Eli finishing the chord. And yes, most folks miss that there is three harmonies. Even funnier to realize Geoff could sing it as written if he wanted to go there as well.
The gliss was actually a trio. They broke out of unison at different times, Omar being the last. All the guys could have done the highest notes, but Cesar (yes, the baritone) wanted it, so they let him have it. And when I say all, I mean all. Listen (or react to) one of their latest minis - Peaches. Many reactors pick two or three minis to react to in one session. I could suggest Your Man, Manah Manah, then Peaches last.
Thank you for a great reaction to Voice Play. The extremely high note at the end was all Cesar the guy with the big hair. Normally it would have been Eli the high tenor but Cesar asked Eli if he could do it instead. Cesar has belted out an extremely high note in other songs as well.
Yes, FINALLY! More Voiceplay! I'm glad you are back and I hope it isn't as long till the next time :D Any of the following would likely blow your mind: Nothing Else Matters, Valhalla Calling, or their newest at this time - Seven Nation Army. Cheers and thanks for the react! :D
Yep. Mortius had Cesar as a guest when he did his reaction/analysis to this song - that's where I found out, right from the horse's (sorry, Cesar) mouth.
VoicePlay stand out from all other a capella groups by their arrnagements, and their theatricatlity. Their arrangements are second to none, I believe. And their talent is equally top of th range, regarding their voices. The never cease to amaze me. Cesar has brought so much sass to the group. And he's so bouncy! Eli, Omar and Cesar could all have done the high note, but Cesar really wanted to do it, so they said ok, go ahead. :) I think you couldn't in all honesty do this song without the screaming high notes. Oh and Eli, rock god, is pronounced like eliie. rhymes with jelly.
Y’all might be interested in the reaction by Mortimus on this song he had Cesar on with him reviewing the song giving many insights. Great reaction thank you.
I think they actually gave away who was going to take the high, middle, and bottom part of the harmony in *that* part when they had Cesar, Omar, and Eli do their variations of "Dream On". Cesar is doing the regular melody that we're used to hearing. Omar and Eli are doing variations with Omar being the middle and Eli being the lowest of the 3. When they go into the "scream" they stay in that order.
Wow. That trombone quartet sounds amazing. I did played the contrabass clarinet... so mine was a low bass voice as well. One of the brothers that played the tuba taught me the string bass. His brother was the first trombone. Eli rhymes with jelly. Do follow up on Warriors, now part of the post-apocalyptic trilogy with Warriors part 1, Dream On part 2, and Seven Nation Army part 3.
If listened to carefully, we see, Eli is a step down, Omar is pretty up there, but Cesar is that highest overtone at the top. Winner and new champion, Cesar Del La Rosa!
During an interview, Cesar let it out that he was the one that was carrying that crazy high note. He has requested that no one tell him how high it actually was. He just wanted to hit it. Eli is pronounced "L E", but he is usually cool as long as you are respectful.
Firstly, Eli is pronounced "Ellee"... The bess is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci... many folk pronounce that wrong too... he has his own channel and does some incredible covers which you simply MUST explore!! You have just fallen down the Voiceplay rabbit hole... enjoy your journey!
Thanks for checking the ending, thay like inputting things at the end just to throw us off, a lot if reactors forget or just miss it It would have been interesting if Geoff had done the high part in the depth of the nether realms instead of having Cesar see if he could contact the next universe over 👽
Great reaction! I played trombone in school. Too self-conscious to play in any group smaller than pep band but I love the low brass sound. Could be why I'm such a fan of bass singers. Geoff did a great job on the arrangement and production of this song. The lyrics have deeper meaning for me here than the original. Dream On is part 2 of a post-apocalyptic trilogy. First is Warriors. It had a fun surprise element. The zombies got Earl and J.None but the survivors picked up Omar and Cesar for Dream On. Then for Seven Nation Army, Omar is missing, they added Anthony G. and kept Cesar close. I think all three songs were arranged by Geoff. He definitely did Dream On and SNA. Highly recommend them if you haven't already seen them.

Some might say a harmonic triad. 😁

I second this! Please do. You will love it and we too!!🎉😂❤
Those Geoff runs that you love are in the original done by the bass.

The High note is all Cesar, not Omar.

Both Geoff and Layne are first rate arrangers.
This one was arranged by Rick Dietz, a capella nerd.

Cesar took the high note. Eli and Omar were backing him. Love the reaction. . 🇬🇧♥

If you like the harmonies here, you need to do Voiceplays Nothing Else Matters.
This VoicePlay song is tied in my book with their cover of Running Up The Hill. And I love Omar’s riffs ♥️

Great expertise, really good reaction! Please do more VP reactions. Every choice will be perfect. 🎉😂❤
Awesome reaction.
That remarkable high note??? That was Cesar de La Rosa!

honestly, should've let Geoff do the scream part

You might really enjoy checking out Aubrey Logan - she's a jazz singer/songwriter and plays trombone in most of her songs
one of my favorites is lassos trombone. I think that is how it is spelled, and sorry for not knowing.
Eli= Ellie short for Eliezer.
Great reaction otherwise.
