@@JenniferGlatzhofer Geoff was worried that they could pull it off & do it justice. Well they absolutely did. I think it was better than the original. You could hear every word clearly & with feeling. Everything they sing is done with so much feeling & emotion that other groups don't have.
Great reaction as always! I'd like to throw my hat in ring and recommend Tomi P. He's an a capella guy from the Czech Republic. He's got a big range but his lows will vibrate your headphones. Start with either Hellfire (from the Hunchback of Notre Dame) or his version of Sweet Dreams. He's fantastic as is your detailed analysis. Keep up the great work.
Yes Tomi P is GREAT. Look at the Bass Gang and their covers of Billy Elish.. they are GREAT bass singers. Bobby and Peter and Marwan are no slouches...
I believe that Layne is using some very brass type tongue movement with the (I'm going to call it a) helicopter sound. I constantly had to get faster with tongue movement playing trumpet. My band teacher really pushed that back in high school and it's one of the things I've never forgotten. Almost a clicking of the rear and front of the tongue offset. It was super tough to learn and I love how he does it!
It always amazes me to think that this masterpiece came out of the head of a nineteen year old kid. No matter how great he wound up being, it's like "Dood, at least try to make it look a little bit hard". They did a great job, and the arrangement was awesome. I know I'm late to this one. Was a little bit scared I'd be disappointed. I liked it, but somehow it's like saying grace without any food not having Tyler in there...
On the last note when they sing "gone" they are all in the F key (i think) just on different octaves. Also as a bass singer though not nearly as good as Geoff. Not really close to be honest but hes so good at sliding down and up. I think at one point in a bass line he was at a F sub-harmonic and kept sliding up an octave into the next note. This was right before the three man highs toward the end. On a crowdcast video Geoff pretty much said this is a sequel to Warriors. He said "Its several years after Warriors and somebody stole their violins and killed Earl and Jay (J None) and probably ate them. Then we found Cesar and Omar." That's why its in a apocalyptic setting (Eli's old high school).
Really interesting to watch this one back to back with the PMJ/Morgan James version. I see from the comments that I’m not the only one who learns something from your analyses of these videos. ❤️ You really got excited about this one! I think if we all had a camera on us, we would look just like you do at 14:08. I love how much you enjoy it. We all do as well and that’s why this works. ❤️
Thanks for the clear analysis and advice! I've been trying to practice higher notes since Tim mentioned it on The Charismatic Voice (I'm a low bass with a narrow range - C2 is comfortable, C4 is not). It sounds pretty painful going high and I haven't managed to stop wincing and apologising when it's particularly horrible, even when alone, but I am at least persevering...
@@JenniferGlatzhofer Be sure to pick it up! Your reactions are cool: both emotional and professional. I'm sure this cover will not leave you indifferent.
My favorite of the four you reacted to, but then I'm fond of 9th Century Top Ten Hits... This is the best version I've heard although The Hound+Fox/Adam Chance also do a creditable job of it. You really are starting to hit the low notes. I think you mentioned you go to Instagram and exercise with Peter Hollens; seems to be paying off. Speaking of Peter Hollens, as you recently demonstrated he and Tim Foust have a ton of great material out there. Four days of them would be another nice "week".

Heh. "How does he do this?". Me, matching because it's in my range: "uh because it's in his range?" It's just effortless to match if it's your range. I can't quite get all the subharmonic levels he gets, but I'm only just starting to, and I can only do it first thing in the morning.
@@JenniferGlatzhofer between your explanations and the Charismatic Voice breakdowns, I find that I am learning so much about music.... I may never stand on stage myself, but I am gaining a deeper appreciation for those that do.

Yes, I just read that from someone else’s comment. So clever!
@@JenniferGlatzhofer Geoff was worried that they could pull it off & do it justice. Well they absolutely did. I think it was better than the original. You could hear every word clearly & with feeling. Everything they sing is done with so much feeling & emotion that other groups don't have.
I agree. Pease react to Warriors. It's a couple of years old and is often overlooked but it is truly one of their best. It is unbelievably good.
Hello! From what Eli said in the BTS vids, he’s doing the lower not in that super high part and Omar and Cesar are hitting the top together.
Ooh thanks for the suggestion!
Yes Tomi P is GREAT. Look at the Bass Gang and their covers of Billy Elish.. they are GREAT bass singers. Bobby and Peter and Marwan are no slouches...
Check out Geoff's new solo in The Rains of Castamere. All I have to say is WOW.
I know this will seem like a "flex", but im 15 and I finally hit a B0 and I just thought that it was something worth sharing :D
Great reaction dear
It always amazes me to think that this masterpiece came out of the head of a nineteen year old kid. No matter how great he wound up being, it's like "Dood, at least try to make it look a little bit hard". They did a great job, and the arrangement was awesome. I know I'm late to this one. Was a little bit scared I'd be disappointed. I liked it, but somehow it's like saying grace without any food not having Tyler in there...
Just saw Cesar say that high part was him.
You always make me smile when you are taken by surprise. You may want to check out Mike Masse "Africa" cover too. You are awesome. Thank you.
Was that an F or a 5.6 on the Richter Scale?
Great analysis
Cesar reacted to this on Mortius 's channel. It was cool. Cesar said they let him hit that note.
Nice! And yes, so cool! Love that background knowledge 😁
One hundred years from now, vocal coaches, working with bass singers, will be teaching "grumblenes." This will be one part of your musical legacy.
Really interesting to watch this one back to back with the PMJ/Morgan James version. I see from the comments that I’m not the only one who learns something from your analyses of these videos. ❤️
You really got excited about this one! I think if we all had a camera on us, we would look just like you do at 14:08. Like we can somehow help Geoff hit those low notes. 😂 I’m curious, how would you describe your reaction at 14:15 when talking about the swell? 😉
I’m just messing with you. I love how much you enjoy it. We all do as well and that’s why this works. ❤️
Ah thank you! Definitely excited ahah 😊 and I think it was my surprised giddiness at the swell, something so simple yet so effective!! Thank you ❤️
Helplessly Hoping by Home Free Worth a listen and will blow your mind.
Geoff has a video if how he does his subharmonics. Its very informative
So reactor Mortius had Cesar on as commentary when he did his reaction. And the really high notes at the end, Cesar said it was him that hit them.
You must react to Geoff's take on "Ain't No Sunshine" by Billy Withers
Cesar did that high note, he admitted tit
Amazing! Thanks!!
I don't understand, why the cover "Hoist The Colours" was left out? Do it, Jennifer, you won't regret it. )
More keep coming out 😂 It is on the list so I need to bump it up to the top!
@@JenniferGlatzhofer Be sure to pick it up! Your reactions are cool: both emotional and professional. I'm sure this cover will not leave you indifferent.
I second this, it still remains my favourite thing they’ve ever done.
@@charsol2389 That's exactly what it is !!
For that note where Geoff just hits bottom, if I remember Peter Barber? G1 in chest into a an F1 sub.
Would love to see a reaction to Cakra Khan's cover of either "I'd Rather To Blind" (Etta James) or "Back to Black" (Amy Winehouse). The Back to Black cover is very different than Winehouse's rendition but, imho, superb.
HI Jennifer, this was nice and informative as every Time. Thank you very much 😊
Since it seems that you like this one maybe you want to watch their cover of "Warriors" (If you havn´t watched it on your own 😉). It is in a similar style.
Jennifer, really enjoy your reaction and analysis of the Magic of Voiceplay.....have you reacted to their cover of the Halo theme.....Geoff hits a B0, not once but twice...jf you haven't yet, you should really check it out, as Layne is amazing, Eli hits high, high notes, Cesar is cool. Geoff is in the 'Underworld', vocally speaking, and Scott Porter, who was a fouding member of the group, re-joins them or this song for a special tribute to one of the VoicePlay family.......>^^
I was totally blown away but the halo theme it was crazy everywhere
Great video and fantastic support for The Fairy Voice Mother with your visit. As I commented in your video... when is a collaboration between you two coming up? and.... have you thought about interviewing the members of Home Free? I think they would be very happy to talk to you.
Ah thank you! Would be very interesting!!! And I shall give it a think 😊
@@JenniferGlatzhofer It could be great 💪
You should listen to this....Lara Fabien - Adagio
It was Cesar and Omar that hit the higher notes, C5 and G4 were the top notes from the two of them.
This is sdo good
Heh. "How does he do this?".
Me, matching because it's in my range: "uh because it's in his range?" It's just effortless to match if it's your range.
I can't quite get all the subharmonic levels he gets, but I'm only just starting to, and I can only do it first thing in the morning.
Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays version of Enemy. It just came out.
You should do an analysis on Voiceplay's Halo music video
Please also listen to Home Free
Two Country Singers Try To Sing Opera.
You won't be disappointed.
Pls do more Julie and the Phantoms!!!!!! UGHHHHHHH!!!!
You should check out foreigner
Should check out Tennessee whiskey by voicplay and we're good by voicplay
Get Geoff'd on.
Nice reaction! Do you have perfect pitch?
Repeat as much as you like. I'd watch a 40 min video. XD
Surprisingly i can hit a geoff note 😂
You, m'lady, are a glutton for brain-breakers... From Home Free to Voice play, you risk your sanity to break things down. Thank you for reacting.
Ahaha thank you 😁
@@JenniferGlatzhofer between your explanations and the Charismatic Voice breakdowns, I find that I am learning so much about music.... I may never stand on stage myself, but I am gaining a deeper appreciation for those that do.
Is it 'el-EE'? Or is it 'EE-leye'?
Eli but pronounced like Ellie
Good harmony (If they not using auto-tune und/or pitch correction?), but sorry...This ist not even worthy comparison to das original Aerosmith ROCK music composition. I would never buy this... Maybe if they gave it away for free...Maybe? But probably I would not waste petrol or my time to find it in a store. This type of American GenZ hip-hoppity ist not my thing anyway. I could believe das current American generation may like it though. Auf Wiedersehen :)
Steven Tyler wouldn't give this a second look.
