Between this and the recent addition of the Apache, helicopters in DCS are becoming survivable again against MANPADs and other ground based threats. Good work ED!
i think the bs3 were getting will only be able to detect LASER sensored weapons like from tanks.. it cannot detect IR guided missiles that u commonly know as manpads.
@@HoLyzPiNoyZ Wrong
@@Baltic_Dude when he said laser illumated sensors, at 0:46 That doesnt imply IR guided manpads..
Not really, laser-sighted AI BTR gunner will ruin your shit faster than you can say "UNDER ATTACK"
@@HoLyzPiNoyZ The video shows BS3 auto dispensing flares in response to MANPADS.
Depending on the threat environment, this might be the first "Automatic" mode I set on and Module. I usually "Bypass" or use "Manual" mode because auto modes tend to waste everything for a single missile.
I usually cruise in S.A. or Manual and then switch to Automatique in a dogfight
Auto in a nutshell: Chaff! Flare! Chaff Flare! Low! Out!
I wouldn't mind a series on this helicopter to be honest
Awesome presentation, short and to the point, well explained! I'm so much looking forward to the Black Shark 3!
Nice to see the model moving! Also cool sys. And enjoy the sonic booms
Nice job sir. Hints of Requiem
oh wow 17 secs late, keep up the good wark defo gonna watch ur dcs vids, i love them
looking good
gracias!!!
FINALLY ACTRUALLY GOOD ROTOR ANIMATIONS!!!!
I love flying my ka50, but the rotor animations look like they re just moving back and fourth, BUT YESSSS!!!
Oh man... I've been into DCS since back in 2010 when it was ONLY the Black Shark; crazy to think I'm comin home, baby
Also, that gizmo is just really cool, that sounds super useful. I need to really go back and appreciate the Ka-50 some more, and not just for getting me into DCS.
Thanks for the tutorial, awesome video! Now any insider information on BS3 WHEN?!
🤔 despite I expected an Auto-detect for both RF & IR threats, and mixing chaffs & flares, but it's too much better now.. AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME 🚁📡🚀✨😁🎉.
Looks nice! It's a shame the President-S parts with the laser defense turrets had to get cut, but this looks like a pretty solid upgrade for taking some workload off the pilot's plate.
President-S is a modern system, Ka-50 BS3 is mid 2000s, 15 years ago. Just like mid 2000s AH-64D, F/A-18C, F-16C etc.
Спасибо за видео
Please just show off the Tetris easteregg on the ABRIS SYST page next :)
Cool, I have seen cockpit footage of KA-52 RWR systems saying things like “stinger front” and “tunguska left”
All that is actually more than just the RWR, it's a whole suite of sensors like it but in varying spectrums of detection. RWR is just the part that detects incoming *radar* illumination (i.e target locks), whereas here the Black Shark also has an LWS which detects lasers (like the kind some SAMs are guided by, or simple laser rangefinding devices- either one indicates a serious threat) as well as multiple cameras (likely either UV or IR cams) around the hull of the aircraft; those make up the MAWS (Missile Approach Warning System) which detects the smoke plumes and heat exhausts of any incoming missiles. These are most useful as they are the only way to detect an incoming Stinger type missile without the pilot keeping his head on a swivel 24/7.
Chances are, the video you saw has a bit of all three working together in the black shark, as most modern combat helicopters come equipped with some combination of all that equipment. It's MAWS probably saw the stinger, while it's LWS/RWR probably saw the Tunguska!
@@blessthismessss Worth noting, the DCS BS3 update won't have an RWR included, this is purely a missile launch warning system. You won't be able to tell if radars are painting you, and you don't have any chaff.
Next DCS module Yak-38???
I'd love to see it! Would also like a semi-what if Yak-41 though based on the -141. I always imagined it might be easier to model that since it never went into service...
Any hope of having less than six missiles per pylon? That'd make evasive action easier ;)
So My ODS says ODS not ready even after ODS switch is set to on from STBY. Any help why my ODS says not ready and it is not showing any missiles at all
Like video
Are you interested in doing a Hind or Apache campaign like you do with silent hunter? It's difficult to find good cinematic helicopters videos on yt.
Nice vid but it would have been interesting to see how to setup the system in the ABRIS too as well as English avionics. Also it would be really interesting to see reduced loadouts if they have been made available in BS3 as this is a requested feature by BS pilots. Thumbs up as always!!
I guess you are not familiar with the design logic of russian avionics, even the ka-50 module. The setup for the conter measure is on the right top, and the switch already provide modes for pilot, russian avionics will never provide setup additionally in other place and they always like those setups as simple as video game, so what you see in the video are what you will get. Also, I guess you are asking how to remove the third pylon, It will be an option in mission editor as they noted weeks ago.
@@freakycat1795 You missed all the points. I meant that Wolfpack could show the ABRIS in English when refering to avionics, so it's easier to understand what we are seeing. When mentioning loadouts, I was talking about less vikhrs per pylon as well as probably less iglas and maybe even rocket pods with a smaller load (not fully loaded rocket pods), requested features in the ED forums by BS drivers
@@ApockV you can get the ABRIS to show English though
Does the MWS also detects IR missiles and shows them?
What happened to the RWR. Did they just remove it? If so, why?
1:10 are those triple igla racks on the outboard pylon?
those are doubles. the center part is where the liquid nitrogen and other systems for the racks are located. each pylon can hold 2 Iglas.
Nope, ist's just a cover
Great Video but I don't see any Cockpit Graphics improve. Outside great! New Pilot ! But the Cockpit? Or is it still a Secret? 🤫
I'm confused, it detects incoming laser guided missiles and automatically deploys flares in response? Don't get me wrong the detection on its own is worth its weight in gold but I don't see the point in automatic flares in response to a laser guided missile...
My understanding of the system is that it only deploys flares when the UV sensors detect a missile launch. Our current Black Shark doesn't have those. UV sensors can't identify whether a missile is IR, laser or radar guided as it only sees the missile's exhaust plume.
The laser warning receiver is (again, to my limited understanding) not connected to the flare dispenser at al.
If the LSW and MWS warn you simultaneously it could mean a missile is indeed laser guided.
@@annezwart5083 So, it could Detect & Dispense for a bypass missile (even friendly) that not tracking you❕
@@tmting4942 It could, but if that's something you specifically want to avoid you can just turn it on stand-by. You'll still get the notification and can manually launch countermeasures.
That kind of thing is a problem on any plane and heli that has missile launch warning and automatic countermeasures dispensing, can happen on the Jeff, A-10, AH-64, etc.
DAMNIT I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS BS3 COMING WHEN I GOT BS2
You'll have a discount for BS3 thanks to BS2
if you already own bs2 the upgrade is most likely going to be cheap on presale. (so don't let that pass 😂)
@@TheKenji2221 a fairly significant discount for the next couple of weeks or so - $10 to upgrade from BS2
No thermal sight ????
Is there a reason the missiles appeared to swing 180 degrees almost immediately after launch?
It's tracking the missile as it passes the helicopter.
@@Wolfpack345 What is the approximate range of the outer & inner circles❓
@@tmting4942 My guess is that they don't show range, but priority, similar to the Hornet RWR.
Good thing today a KA 32 arrived to my country for the fires season, I went and took a few pictures a few hours back
so now there is public documentation on this systems for an helicopter that was actually a prototype? 😂
Is this system taken from the the Ka-52?
*old version*
🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is it legal to fly the KA50 with the Hawk 60 Grip?
I just gotta say it... SILENT HUNTER 4
0:52 Detected by laser sensors? So it can only detect missiles that have laser guidance? Are there even any laser guided SAMs in DCS?!
The system will detect the launch plume of MANPADs aimed at it and launch flares - the laser warning system replaces the box that used to sit on the canopy rail at top left of the cockpit, putting a laser illumination warning display in the ABRIS instead. The Ka-50 doesn't have any way to jam laser guided missiles or tank using laser ranging systems to shoot at you apart from using ground cover.
Will there be longer videos with this helicopter?
And... how realistic is this?! Does the Ka-52 have such a thing?
I don't think so
the apache has this irl so its definitely a real thing
@@jungletroll3844 Nice, but surely not realistic for the Ka-50. I'm a bit finicky, I guess.
well the KA-50 never had iglas and i doubt it had this either but I don't care at this point. Its nice to play a red helicopter that can somewhat compete with the apache @@nymerie
Except it doesn’t work as seen in Ukraine
Maybe one day we will get President-S :(
Just wait until that guy with the way too long table has completely lost his war. I'm more sad not to get the early MiG-29 model as planned to be honest though.
@@CakePrincessCelestia He's already won
@@Baltic_Dude I might be sitting here with just 15°C indoor, but I still can buy clothes. He's lost almost 60% of his total income though. Poccnr is crumbling... :D
@@CakePrincessCelestia Actual copium. Go have a cold shower to show him!
President-S is a modern system, Ka-50 BS3 is mid 2000s, 15 years ago. Just like AH-64D, F/A-18C, F-16C etc.
it is pity that the ka 50 has no radar warning receiver in dcs - so still no safety from radar sams
I just hope the 15 comes before this thing 🤌
Where is wags, what have you done to him
Lets hope that he is busy testing the Edge/Vulcan stuff ;)
where is our "Wags here"???
@@zeno6111753 I doubt it, before Vulkan, it will be the multicore.
@@paladincubano I'll take any optimization I can get
A lot of Ka-52 crews wish they had seen this video before getting absolutely bitchslapped by 3 decade old missile threats without deploying a single flare
Looking at how the Moskva was sunk, odds are these systems didn't even function
Survivorship bias. There is no point to share videos with failed attempts to shoot them down. And there are tens of sorties every single day. As for me Ka52 defences are making great job at such a harsh conditions.
Russian air force did outstanding job and completed their mission in ukraine which i am assuming you are referring to
@@rainmaker3987 did they though ? not having air supremacy after almost a year and committing war crimes by targeting civil infrastructure is not a outstanding job.
Would be nice if braindeads would avoid Ukraine war on every single video on youtube
"Buy it again... for the THIRD time!"
For 10% of the actual cost
@@sonniedae6398 The *actual* cost... of the electrons we download?
We were SOLD this module. We didn't rent it.
@Admiral Quality no
I don't really understand what you're saying
The price of the new Blacksharks is very cheap if you already own a previous one.
@@sonniedae6398 But the version I bought isn't finished yet. So, no, F right off.
And, yes, exactly, I won't buy it. I didn't buy the A-10C II either (I resent even having to use that incorrect, mixed up nomenclature -- there is no such aircraft, nor is there a Blackshark 3.). And the "new" A-10 is still incomplete and doesn't even have a first-person pilot model yet, so I absolutely know I made the right decision there. And again, we didn't purchase this software under a RENTAL model. ED are trying to have their cake and rent it to us too.
They're putting work and effort into a 15 year old module. I think it's just fair to ask for some compensation, the upgrades aren't full price if you get them in time anyway.
~someone who bought BS1 and BS2 upgrade twice each
Why they don't develop the ka52?
no data available.... :(
unfortunately it's too modern and because Russia is really close-lipped on the frame. I can attest that i'd swoon pretty hard if we got the Ka-52 and Mi-28.
@@Ereshkigal616 DCS:Su34 and DCS:Su35 are wet dream as well :)
@@iyhan1987 In the ukrain we have lot of ka-52 :D
@@DerErdnussKrieger Still a Russian helicopter
You can get in a lot of legal trouble if you model something like the KA-52 and you're not supposed to
Kinda disappointing honestly. Is this what the Ka-50 actually has? I doubt it. It may have been updated at some point, but one would think that it would be the same as all of the other Russian helos' CMS. Seems like a retro fit that never actually happened IRL. I'd rather it just be the way it actually is.
lmao, alright propaganda consoomerist. Go smash your keyboard on reddit pls.
The Ka-50 is an old helo that is not really used much, with the 52 being it’s mass production replacement. I don’t think they’d waste money upgrading what’s basically an out of date, barely even worth being considered mass production, aircraft with the newest equipment
This may have also been something they did as a one off like the Su-25T
Watch the latest video of VOLK, some Ka-50 were indeed fitted with this system (and also the DIRCM)
@@yobob591 Exactly my point. So it probably doesn't have IR warning. As the BS2 is.
very cool, but we know this doesnt work because o how many have been taken out in ukraine
U drunk?
