Remember, you have two different cannon belts in the Ka-50 of about 240 rounds each, one equipped with HE rounds and the other one with API rounds. When shooting the armored targets it would have been more efficient to shoot them with API, that’s what the HEI/API switch on the armement panel is for. Great video, I enjoyed watching.
Ejecting the blades of the helicopter sounds dangerous for sure but the thing to understand is these blades are not steel knives, they are light weight composite material. So when they are blown free they are very lightweight and very aerodynamicly unstable. That means they instantly tumble and rapidly slow down. Its kinda like trying to throw a leaf for example. For sure it can't be risk free but I reckon most people would be surprised by how short a distance they would travel before being so slow as to not present serious danger. The KA50 is one of the easier modules to learn and be quite effective in while also having some depth to learn like data linking targets to other sharks. Its good fun and easy to fly once you understand how to do it. The flight director and trim buttons are your friends, use them often.
GOSH! MACH 10 for a rotor blade? Thank god that's not the case! Check out the sound of a jet breaking the sound barrier and you'll thank the lord that helicopter rotor blades never go beyond MACH 1 XD
Auto gives no benefits, so I made it an item on my startup checklist. Instead I'd recommend binding the laser standby switch, so you can delay or even prevent the laser from overheating.
At 10:09 for targets like that flip the switch below the master arm switch to api instead of he and armored targets will go down pretty quickly. Also your viewer and subscriber count is criminally low keep up the great work!
AFAIK, Sikorsky experimented with helicopter ejection systems using rotors equipped with explosive bolts in the 1960s[?], but it was never put into practice.
Great content! As previously mentioned, you have equal amounts of HE and AP for your 30mm (switch is near the Lo/high rate of fire) Can you advise which server you're on, looks awesome, very similar to Enigma's Cold War but modern equipment is available. I loved the fact you kept moving through this, in Helos, Movement is life ... All in all, 12/10! Thanks for the vid, keep them coming my dude
You got it more on the way. The server on playing on is on “tempest blue flash server”. It’s a sister server of “enigmas Cold War.” except this one takes place more in the eighties to 90s timeline with a few more modern jets like the M 2000 and the F-15.
You carry two types of ammo in the Kamov KA-50. HE (High Explosive) and API (Armour Piercing Incendiary). Once you run out of HE or API you can switch the the other kind of round. You have 22 rounds of HE and something like 20 rounds of API. I believe that there is 5 bullets in each round. The two way switch is just below and to the left of the WEAP ARM switch. HE will be on the top and API will be on the bottom. HE will automatically be selected when you spawn. Just fyi 😁
I forget the actual control but you can slave the gun to you eyesight. When your in close its really useful as it will articulate those finer movements since you seem a little shaky on the stick. All in all itll come in time glad to see your having some fun with the black shark it's one of my favourite modules sadly it seems out of place in alot of the metas and lets be honest dcs ground attack is pretty basic.
Great vid as usual. Smashing IADS with a Helo is one of the most satisfying things to do in DCS. Ripple firing and adjusting after the first impact is novel. Don't think it works in the Gaz but a cool tactic.
If you can find some friend to fly as an wingmen you can send the targets trough the datalink system and then can also slave the skval to that send target. The wingmens position is also shown on the Abris map. Too bad that this helicopter is pretty much spit on by all the fellow players so can't really use it online and played too much BS2 back in the day anyway so the Apache is more interesting in multiplayer. Ka-52 would be awesome.
@@DTMCRAZYGAMING Just checked the bug list from the forums and the datalink is currently unusable with the INS drifting a lot and the thread is marked "correct as is". Mean's that it will be never fixed and the datalink would be forever unusable. Who knows, but seems to be so for now. Have not played the BS3 yet.
I don't see the problem with the propellers. A KA-50/52 would go on the line of contact alone. Doesn't make sense to stay together, only go together from base to line of contact then everyone does its own thing. Ejecting a pilot is more important than worrying about a propeller striking other helicopters while staying close together.
Great video bud! Really liked some of those camera angles in the intro! Cool stuff & I know that’s a lot of work editing all that footage! So really nice job! Question: I’m sorta new to the BS and don’t know all the tricks and ins and outs of the helo but what commands are you using with the helmet mounted site? I can bring it up while flying but I don’t know how to target something or have the camera slave to the sight? Could you explain how your doing that? Thank you and have a wonderful holiday if I don’t hear from you or see you online etc….
Thank you! This is on “tempest blue flash server.” They are a sister server to “enigmas Cold War server.” I have their discord link in the description.
If you have to worry about hitting your wingman with your rotor on the ka-50 ejection, I have another question for you, why in the world are you in parade formation in combat? That's a way too close formation for combat! Just getting hit by a missile could cause a chain reaction anyways at that range!
@@The_RussianBias no and it won’t ever be…. Enigma has his server take place during a later time during the Cold War (1960s-70s I believe). Tempest is the sister server that wanted it to be closer to present time (1980s-90s I think)
Only a matter of time before this dude starts blowing up
😁
Has to happen sometime, the algorithm is kinda late on this channel.

Ka-50 is probably the easiest helo to control since you don't have a back rotor to counter
True
I would recommend binding the manual/auto switch to make it easier. So you don’t have to look down and find it, that’s what I did.
Done!👍

Love the content and I’m a huge fan of the cinematic! Also good gameplay, you have the shark under control, I really have issues with overruddering.
I totally understand. I have the same issue with the Apache and you use the rudder a lot on that aircraft.

you actually have a few less API rounds than HE, i think 200 instead of 220

Can you share your color settings? its like you have the perfect colors settings or brightness and saturation, or is it a shader?
If you go on my discord page in the pinned comments. I have a screen shot showing my settings.
If only the BS3 was on sale.....
If you have the BS2. You can upgrade to the BS3 for $10
Why didn't you activate your onboard defense system?
If your talking about having the flare deploy automatically. I like having it set to manual. Automatic just waists it

yup, wrong reason why ejection is "bad"..better answer is usually choppers fly low, so no time to eject safely..so why bother with ejection seat..
