to anyone interested.. this song is not old, but the poem that is used is, it is a translated version of a famous poem called "Þat mælti mín móðir", it was written by a man named Egill Skallagrímsson from Iceland in the year 911 when he was only 7 years old, he was angry at a boy that cheated him in a game and killed him, that is when his mother said those things and realized that him showing this berserker behavior meant that he would become a warrior, a Viking, rather than become a farmer, he died at the age of 91 in the year 995. This man is also my ancestor (I am from Iceland we have kept very detailed records of family lineage since 1200, and traced family trees back to settlement era, family was important and still is, so I can see my family tree all the way back to year 740)

@@roevardotter oh there are plenty of those in my family tree.. mainly due to the fact that Iceland isn't a big country, and inbreeding was big.. my family tree is.. well.. circles combined to make a chain..

Chills. Absolutely. I'm sure many of us had ancestors who sailed the seas, and even if you didn't, your soul will sail with this song. Outstanding job.
My brother paid for an ancestry analysis, which showed we are mostly standard north European but with a very notable streak of Viking blood. On my father's side we are Irish and the Vikings invaded and occupied Ireland many centuries ago. We must be descended from those Viking settlers, since there have never been any Scandinavians in the family. My mother says this must account for my rather wild nature, quick to take offence and turn anything into a fight, but I think it just gave me a restless soul, always looking for the next departure.
My six month old adores this song. It’s my go to anytime I can’t get him to stop crying. ❤️

This is a pretty version of this song. More the feel of a lullaby. I love the more dramatic version by another acapella group, they really got into the Viking feeling with the costumes, make-up, and backdrops.
Is it VoicePlay you could be thinking of?? They did this song and wore costumes and everything. They are a great a cappella(that’s the grammatically correct spelling btw in case you are wondering why I’m spelling it like that) group and you should check them out with all their different songs they do.

One of the most beautiful versions I've heard of this song. I love this ethereal and a bit melancholic feel! And it sounds a bit like a chant - which is fitting too, because Vikings and Christians in the series do form their relationships, whether these are friendly or not.
