  • Fabrice Renaudin presents an ancient Tibetan/Yogic/Kundalini practice called the Fountain of Youth exercise to create a vibrant and energized body/mind on daily basis. It rejuvenates the 7 Chakras(energy vortices/wheels of light), which in turn stimulates and charges the vital glands(endocrine system which balances hormones and chemical messages) and strengthen the body harmoniously at the core.
    5 min of exercise(there are 1440 min in a day) for an 8 hr energized lasting effect!

    Rite 1, quote from Kelder's book: "One thing is important: you must spin from left to right. In other words, if you were to put a clock on the floor face-up, you would turn in the same direction as the clock hands". There is no controversy about clockwise or anti-clockwise. The book states 'from left to right'.
    Rite 2, quote : "With each repetition, establish a breathing rhythm: breathe in deeply as you lift the legs and head; breathe out fully as you lower them". The video demonstrates the opposite breathing.
    Rite 5: "Breathe in deeply as you raise the body. Breathe out fully as you lower it." Here again, the video demonstrates the opposite breathing.
    The book tells that the rites are to be done every day, and the quantities are as follows. First week - 3 reps, 2nd week - 5 reps, 3rd week - 7 reps; then increase by 2 reps per week until the 10th week we do 21 reps. Then, we should continue doing 21 reps of each exercise in the morning OR at night; there is no need to do more than 21. If desired, the exercises can be done morning AND night, in which case we'll need to first build up our morning practice to 21 reps in each exercise, then gradually build up the evening practice from 3 to 21, just as we did with the morning practice.
    Furthermore, as the book never tires of repeating that the breathing should be done deeply, the exercises should be done rather slowly.
    In summary, please read the book yourself, don't rely on interpretations and online demos.

    I started this Tibetan Rites about two weeks ago and I have looked at many videos. I have found at least one very good one that I like with modifications. I have to say you have given me so much vital info on these rites. Lots of tips that none of the others have given including the down in the spin and adjusting going right or left on the spin depending on where you live and many other details. Thank you so much. I'm doing 6 now. I hope to be consistent and get up to 21. I already feel better. 🌺

    I've been watching UA-cam and reading on-line articles for almost 3 days and yours' is the best! You are one of the few who does the breathing properly on #2 and #5. Breathe in when you arch your back and out when you straighten to compress. Makes sense. With #2, a lot of demonstrators show breathing in while lifting the legs and out when lowering them, or with #5 they breathe in with Down Dog and breathe out with cobra. Both feel counter intuitive and against the natural way. Thanks!

    Hey Fabrice, a little personal research for you. I watched your vid and was interested in your take on Rite 1. I have been practicing the 5 Rites since 1987. I learned from the original book from Col. Bradford. I started practicing rite 1 spinning counterclockwise in early October of last year. My health immediately began to degrade. I thought I had the flu. Then I thought I had pneumonia. I went to my herb shop in an attempt to regain my health. I practice Tai Chi Chaun, ride my bike 100 miles a week and am generally in excellent health. I could not regain my health. I thought about what I was doing different and the only thing that came up was spinning counterclockwise doing rite 1. I got up did rite 1 spinning clockwise as usual and BANGO, within 2 days I have regained my health !!! Maybe it's because I learned it clockwise, I don't really know. But that was my experience. I will not do rite 1 counterclockwise again. I was blown out how subtle the difference is on these very powerful rites. Have you had anyone else who has had this issue ? Thank you.

    I was doing the spin clockwise as the Kelder book stated but was losing energy -- extreme loss of vitality/energy and facial aging. I'm a lefty twin while sis is a righty twin and her results were the complete opposite. I checked the spin in my sink water and it was counter-clockwise. That coupled with the bad results and the twin thing had me switching to counter-clockwise. Lo & behold, everything improved -- I started seeing fantastic results which included de-ageing, root hair growing thicker, peace and calmness, stronger back w/less backaches, losing 5 lbs, brighter face... phenomenal things. The only thing I don't do that he does is that swinging motion on the 4th right.. The kelder book (original rites) says to come back to a sitting/resting position after each number you do. There's no swinging back and forth although you probably get more aerobic energy out of that. Evolve into what works for your body, that's my motto.

    The exercises were developed to make people out of shape like someone that has meditated for lets say 7 years and his legs have all but atrophied. You should spin clockwise and counterclockwise it is to develop your equilibrium. The five Tibetans are the smallest increment of exercise to do to start to retrieve your ability to move. In the beginning this was translated to recuperation of movement. Some people that are handicapped should not do more than 1 rep of just one of the rites. The principle is that eventually you can access all the different 386 movements by doing 21 reps of 21 movements per day. The 3rd rite is the one that eventually as you climb the difficulty ladder permits you to eventually levitate. But believe me the complexity of all these Asanas are very great. When you start the 5 rites you gradually try to rep the 1st once both ways one day the first week. The second week you try and do 2 reps of two of the rites. Eventually you get to do the 5 rites 5 reps 5 days. Then you do 6 reps of the 6 rites and then you do 7 reps of the 7 next rites for 6 days until you can do 21 reps of 21 rites. At that point you are a master of your own movement. You can also start by doing just one rep of each one day once a week if you are in really bad shape. Although this is evident now that I`ve explained it, when you reach 12 reps of 12 rites you are good to guide others and become a leader in your area to take care of the handicapped and movement limited people. 12 reps of 12 rites is the basis of a good healthy regime. I understand no one thought any of you any of this and the colonel was not a master but Go see the masters of yantra yoga. Although you do the 5 rites you have to practice the 10 breaths so you relearn how to breathe while you exert effort so as not to damage yourself. But I tergiversate do the 5 rites and you are good to continue to have a good life. This is also good. Very good.

    Traditionally, in all other yogas, forward bending is on the exhalation, backward bending is on the inhalation. It has to do with the lungs and rib-cage being compressed or expanded. Hard to breathe in when they are compressed; easy to get maximum oxygenation of the lungs when folding backward.

    This is definitely the best video that I've found. You explain the purpose of the rites, explain the breath, and explain the movements. The only thing is, most of what I've read is that spinning should be done clockwise no matter where you're located, however you go counterclockwise. I'm so conflicted! :-\ Does anyone have any insights on this??

    • @taoist32

      Emily Lamboy Do it clockwise. I read the original book on this. Doesn't matter if it is northern or Southern Hemisphere. The vortex/chakra spins in a clockwise motion. Therefore you should always spin clockwise.

    • @justasimplesomeone
      @justasimplesomeone 4 роки тому

      Probably stating the obvious - breathing in is filling the body - lifting the internal body up to the armpit chest - and lifting the mind - filling the body with energy for any movement, action, intention. I mean generally in life and in yoga and in pranayama. Breathing out empties the body - of toxins, maybe - of power in a certain sense and is therefore more to do with relaxing of energy, body, muscles, maybe mind. My understanding of dog up is energise the body with an in breath as you go up, and continue with the The in breathe to manage the body and get in to the full positioning. From there to go down to down dog, an out breath makes sense to me. However, I will practise that rite slowly and try to examine the feelings and what’s natural in my body. I guess you would know if you get to the absolute original source! History and translations can change things to any degree - but we also have the accumulated intelligence of mankind through until now - and your own personal body and mind intelligence!
      There! That’s added thought and confusion, right? Have a good day! Best to start very slowly and very carefully - the older or less fit you are the slower you go, I suppose.

    Fabrice, you clarified many points and provided good instructions, however there are some new confusions too: 1st rite: the vortex on northern hemisphere spins clockwise, check wikipedia - Coriolis effect, not counterclockwise. 2nd rite: good instructions I found so far said "Breathe in deeply as you lift your head and legs and exhale as you lower your head and legs", which is opposite as you said, similarly 5th rite: "Breathe in deeply as you raise the body, and exhale fully as you lower the body".

    • @gargos25
      @gargos25 9 років тому

      Hey Kornel. Could you tell me which one is correct now? I have just checked the "Fountain of Youth" again and he writes "Breathe in deeply as you raise the body, and exhale fully as you lower the body". • @QuasiUnlimited
      @QuasiUnlimited 9 років тому +1

      Dušan Cholvad Based on my research I strongly believe that the correct principle is to breathe in when there is the most tension in the body, you do not want to be breathless and have compressed chest, muscles, blood and organs when you need most power, you want prevent too much internal compression and to keep muscles in a more efficient form, if your chest is compressed the muscle lever effect is reduced. This means for 2nd rite: inhale when legs goes up, 5th rite: inhale and body rises.

    • @gargos25
      @gargos25 9 років тому +1

      Kornel Kabele
      Thank you for the answer, Kornel. The 2nd rite is pretty clear but I am still not completely convinced about rite 5. The book says one should follow the same pattern in rite 5 as with the previous 3 rites, which for me means that you inhale as the head goes back and exhale when it comes to the chest, as in those previous 3 rites. Wouldn't you think that was what the author meant with the same pattern?

    • @shilpajain1106

      Dušan Cholvad
      Dusan,
      simple
      when your frontal upper body - meaning the chest (extending may be upto the abdoman) opens up you take a breath in.. when it contracts, you let that air out (so exhale)

    you shouldnt go to your sink to know in which sense the earth rotates, it goes to the sun (east), so if you are on the north pole you will move counterclockwise with the earth, so because of this you should move in the other direction. so the exercise should be done clockwise in northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in southern hemisphere.

    Terrific video and nice explanations. Although there was little emphasis on the importance of the slow steady breathing.
    I understand that each direction of spin has it's own polarity but I'm very curious if it's really relative to the hemisphere you're on.
    I've heard different opinions, but I feel the whole relative motion, as one would see in the sink, is probably quite correct.

    Wow this is amazing, thank you for explaining the ritual. I am a bit confused though about the spinning, I live in Australia which way do I spin? some here are saying northern hemisphere clockwise and south anti-clockwise is that true?

    Just the fact that the guy tells you in an un-complicated way the exercises, perhaps it will lead normal peeps to try it, then explore. Don't be so pedantic with your comments, too many yoga/tai-chi snobs out there already. Great for me because I will now follow up on all types of vid.

      Did you just start the rite? If so, you're supposed to start with only three repetitions and then increase by two every week (3, 5, 7,...21). Otherwise you'll get really sick.

I have the occasional cold or something for a day or 2, but I was out of balance for 3 months while I was spinning counterclockwise. With in 2 days of going back to spinning clockwise I regained my normal health. I realized how powerful these rites are. Thank you for asking. Ray

      Again, not true for everyone... what is true for you, is not true for every person. Only Rinpoche up there said it correct, only motion matters. These were exercises for the monks who spent days meditating so they can regain their ability to walk, move, and function due to the atrophy which is apparent in Yogi's and Guru's from long term meditation.

    In rite 2 you don't raise your legs high enough. In rite 3 you are far to fast and barely lean back at all, the back bend in this rite is the important thing, bending forward like that serves no benefit at all. Your breathing in rite 5 is wrong. This practice is all about stretching muscles, controlled breathing and correct form. I don't think you understand the 5 Rites at all. This series of movements was developed over a very very long time.
    Some people find some of the rites more of a challenge than others. Build them up slowly, but all at the same time. Let your weakest rite control your pace. :-)

  • @i-heart-google7132
    @i-heart-google7132 6 років тому +5

    Fabrice - your technique is TERRIBLE. This is NOT the proper way of doing the 5T rites. Of all the errors you made, one of the biggest error is the speed - you're supposed to be doing it slowly, focusing on the breathing.
