What's your morning routine like, and can YOU touch your toes? 🤔 Please like + comment below to let me know (and YES, I have been keeping up with my new morning routine habit :) )
You have inspired me to do my own 30 day exercise challenge doing this! 🤸♀ I've printed out a calendar so I can keep up with it! I'm not quite sure what the spinning is supposed to do other than make me dizzy but I'll try it! 😃
I am so happy you shared this rare exercise routine. Everything new does not work. It is our ancestors that did best. A to Zen life is more than minimalism I have found. We need to learn all aspects of your life. Minimalism exercise cooking shopping money savings holidays structure laundry...
I've gone through so many different morning exercise routines, and gone on and off of exercising at all so many times, that I've come to accept that I'll never stick to one routine everyday for the rest of my life. 😅 I think that's fine though! I just pay attention to what my brain and body want and need and try to incorporate exercise when it feels fun and/or beneficial. Right now I'm learning beginner ballet (shoutout to Ballet Misfit on UA-cam, her lessons are wonderful!) and I'm feeling really strong and having so much fun. I did the front splits for the first time ever this week!
Your channel is our continuous journey. You might not want to exercise when it gets cold but exercise will warm you up. You are always so honest about what you will continue do or not do and try. Sharing the most with us really makes you more human. Thanx
I walk 4 miles every morning and then do Pilates for 30 minutes. At the age of 56 I can put my palms flat on the ground and I can do a handstand. And it feels great when I finish the routine because I just feel energetic and loose and alive. This was a really good video!
I think what people need to realize is no matter what movement 'routine' you choose, you will see far great benefits from consistent daily use of the body compared to just existing in stillness.
@punkin314.. if you rest, you rust is actually very true! lol! … Everyone who has time should spend ten minutes daily in a hammock, if you don’t have time spend an hour..✌️
Just an extra bit of information. I bought the book a long time ago. It suggests that you start with 3 reps of each exercise at first and do that for a week, then each week increase each rep by 2 until you are doing 21 reps of each exercise. So in 10 weeks you will have worked up to doing all 21 reps. Also with the spinning rite, if you are in the Northern hemisphere you should spin clockwise and in the Southern hemisphere you spin in a counter clockwise.
@@angeladawn805 that's what it said in the Peter Kelder book called Tibetan secrets of youth and vitality How to look and feel younger using five ancient rites for stimulating your energy centres. I bought it in the UK in the late 80's. It had an edit that talked about natural phenomena like tornadoes and whirlpools which tend to spin in the opposite direction in the north and southern hemispheres. The exact wording in the book is "Therefore, in the southern hemisphere it is probably correct to perform rite number one by spinning counter-clockwise (ie right to left). So I guess it's either the writer's or editors interpretation. I do think these exercises are worth doing, I had awful back pain a few years back and started doing them again and it solved the issue within a week or so. I felt so much more flexible and generally free and full of energy too
@@juliafrackowska1558 in the book I have, it is written by the author who met an old man who was a retired British army officer, and they became friends, he meets up with the man four years later in America and doesn't recognise him because he looks so much younger. The book is written based on what the old man tells him about his time in a Tibetan monastery. The Colonel as he is referred to, suggests that you only practice the rite to the point of slight dizziness initially and that you can also do what figure skaters do by focusing on a point straight ahead and as you turn hold you focus on that point as long as you can then when you have to , spin your head quickly round to refocus on that point again. He also says not to do excessive amounts of spinning as that over stimulates some of the vortexes, which at first accelerates the flow of life but then blocks it. The monks tended not to do more than 21 spins. When I first did the rites, I started off with the 3 reps of each one and built it up by 2 each week, and I didn't have any issues
Marissa, it's okay for parts of your life to remain private- you are so generous in sharing with us. Congratulations on meeting your 30 day goal and for being open to the changes it brought into your life! Very inspiring!
As someone who goes to the gym regularly and at least looks pretty "fit," whenever I see someone at the gym who looks new to working out or unfamiliar with things, I think, Good for you! Hope you keep it up!! I don't think about them not knowing what they are doing. All gym go-ers have been there at one time. Don't let the fear stop you!
I’m 74. I recently had physical therapy for a long term knee “swelling”. My right knee is perfect especially for my age. My PT lasted 3 weeks but I have continued my exercises at home for 5 weeks not missing a day. I too kept up with my achievements in a notebook instead of a calendar. My left knee is getting closer every week to feeling as good as my right knee. You should be so proud of your improvement. Don’t worry about what this big world’s opinions what’s important is being satisfied with your own progress. In the end that’s really all that counts. Thank you for sharing your journey.
I am a former dancer. I’m very thin. I want you to know that I struggle with having people judge me for being too thin or weight training with tiny weights. Also, one of my daughters is the opposite of me. She also struggles with being judged because she is very curvy and she has had men make comments. Sharing this is incredibly brave-and having a boundary about it as you work thru it is perfect. Thank you for doing this. I want you to know I’m going to use this video to help teach my children these rites and implement them on a new family workout routine for our whole family. My husband is gone a lot and everyone has different fitness abilities on my house (including an adult autistic with low tone in his abdomen and three people with knee issues). This will be perfect as everyone can do it in their own time, and for their own abilities and can feel confident about it. Thank you for making that possible thru your vulnerability.
Woman!! ❤ this is my favorite video ever!! You are beautiful for sharing your struggle. When you shared that you found joy in reigniting that part of yourself you thought was gone, man!! How inspiring for everyone!! Thank you so much for that transparency!!
Actually the traditional yoga from India is also not static, it depends if you also combine mantra chanting or a breath meditation, like Surya Namaskar a recognisable one is a sequence of movements. Love the video
Melissa! You do not have to do everything! Trust your gut about your boundaries. I am so glad you feel better. I had an injury and I fell out of exercising. You inspire me to start again. I will do the challenge as well! Lots of love
Thank you so much for being so vulnerable about your 30-day challenge! This has been motivating. I want to start my own challenge now! I cried with joy with you!
I'm not above wearing my workout clothes to bed so I'm already dressed for activity in the morning. Like you, I enjoy checking things off. I recently started keeping an agenda, something I hadn't done since retiring. I put EVERYTHING on it, make the bed, do the dishes, swim...It really keeps me motivated. And I rely heavily on my Apple Watch. This might not be for everyone, and at first, I thought it was childish for my watch to show that I'd completed x amount of activity, but turns out, it really inspires me to reach my goal and track my activity. I never enjoyed team sports but I do like challenging myself.
I used to be a massive yoga person, and since have had multiple injuries and surgeries, saw this, and tried a modified version `1 day on, 1 day off and I didn't do 21 reps at one go I started at 3, and have worked my way to 10, and I have noticed a huge improvement in my physical stability and strength. Thank you!
It's 9,45pm I stood up from the video and prepared my clothes for the morning exercise. I will do it again like I used to do it, with joy and kindness to myself. You can't imagine how much you helped me by sharing your feelings and the whole process. Thank you with all my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so proud of you! As one who is 61, I want you to know that I think you're doing awesome! Remember it's about how you feel, not what the scale says. I know I feel better after my morning stretches. ❤
I am 71 and am trying to use this easy routine for 30 days! Thank you for sharing your experience. I am not starting with doing 21 but gradually increasing the number of reps. I've practiced yoga stretches sporadically, but regularly (oxymoron), and I can see this additional practice a good addition to these stretches!
Yes, I can touch my toes easily at 62. Doing Yoga helps with that, and I’m doing it for years. Currently and most loved doing Yoga with Adrienne, the 30 days Yoga challenge playlist. It’s only a few minutes a day and a great way to start my morning. And then a walk with my little dog. Loving your video to remind us all ❤
Thanks Marissa for reminding us of the Tibetan Rites. I’ve tried them before, but never managed over a week 😅 you’ve inspired me to try the 30 challenge 🎉🤸🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️ I can definitely touch my toes, that’s no issue for me. I need to liven up my morning routine and with summer holidays coming to a close here in Copenhagen - it seems like the perfect time for a new beginning 🌱
Wow, compliments! In february this year i started a yoga challange. I sticked with it all month. Now we are at the end of july, and I practise still 20 min. Yoga everyday. My body changed sooooo much. Keep it up, you will see how much energy you will gain!
"It's not our ability to stick to good habits when things are easy, but rather our commitment to staying disciplined when things get tough and motivation runs dry that really shapes our future in determining the kind of person we are and the kind of life we're going to live." Thank you for your kind and inspiring words!
Thank you, Marissa. You’ve motivated me to get back into my little morning stretch routine. It’s a minimal step towards fitness, but a step nonetheless. I’m so glad you re-discovered your movement joy!
I used to be a dancer. I let myself go - long story short, I lost 100 pounds (in my 60s) and joined CrossFit. I couldn't jump at all when I began (it was my forte as a dancer). Within months I could jump rope. I rediscovered my inner 10-year-old. I get it! Rediscovering that childlike joy in movement is an incredible feeling. Never want to let that go again! Love your channel - this is awesome.
I am recovering from an injury and have gained over 50lbs over the past couple years. I just joined a gym to swim as physical therapy and I hated the idea of working out my larger body in front of a bunch of strangers. I did it but it will take some time to get over that insecurity. This was a really inspiring video! I used to be effortlessly flexible and now I can't touch my toes. That's my new goal moving forward!
I've been at a standstill with my morning yoga practice -- basically not motivated AT ALL. But THIS!! Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful and dynamic practice. I'm about four days in an already noticing positive changes. The best part about being 49 years old is that I'm not attached to the NUMBER of exercises I'm doing but more interested in the quality of the excercises. That said, I'm happy right now at repetitions of 10, which starts to really kick in when I get to the last Rite (Two Dogs). Over the last year, I've been continually inspired by your honesty and encouragment in simplifying our belongings so we have more time and space for LIFE! Step by step, box by box, drawer by drawer we are getting there xo
Funny coincidence, I have just set a challenge for myself to exercise every morning before life and excuses get in the way. I am going to look up these Tibetan rights - never heard of them before.👍. It is definitely use it or lose it. I hike with a group of friends in their 60s and 70s every week. It is inspiring. I am in my 60s, and I still am self conscious about my body, even though I can haul it up mountains. I am learning to accept more. I have wasted too much time worrying about looks, time to focus on health. Health is everything, and you are beautiful btw.
Right before you told that how bad shape you were in, I was thinking how good your shape actually is as a mom of 2. As a 28 years old person, I would like to look good as you do when I am at your age. Don´t go harsh on yourself. And thank you for your perfect channel! :)
Wow, thank you for this! Many years ago I learned these 5 Tibetan Rites and intended to do them every morning. You’ve inspired me to start again! I love your very uncluttered rooms! 👍
We got you, sister! A lot of us have "less than tight" tummy regions. You did great! A 30-day challenge sounds like a great way to start, and 5 pounds per month with "exercise alone" is awesome, plus your body composition tightened up overall!
Thank you for your honesty and for sharing this exercise practice. I will try it. You're so relatable and it just feels like chatting with a friend to watch your videos. Thank you for all the inspiration!💐
Thank you for sharing, and for what you didn't share lol. I had a serious illness and five surgeries in 2020 and 2021. After I recovered at age 67 I was in horrible physical condition after going from bed to chair for almost two years. I couldn't seem to get strength back and was embarrassed to go to a gym. I saw an article about a medical exercise program at a local hospital and signed up and the improvement in six months was amazing. Once you feel that change it frees you. It made me sad to think of how many people go through something like I did and just say well this is how I am now, or how many women turn 40 and just say I don't have the energy I used to have. We need to fight it. You are so amazing.
Ohmygoodness! I TOTALLY get where you are coming from! I have never enjoyed working out in front of others, so I've always worked out at home (when I do). You are so brave to share this video with us! I am so out of shape, also, and you have encouraged me to start my own 30 day without challenge! THANK YOU, Marissa ❤!!!
You did a good job showing the exercises. I’m always self-conscious no matter what, so I can relate. I liked how you showed the exercises and you looked like you were a pro. 👍 good job.
Congratulations on finding that little bit of self you thought you lost again! I've been currently going through the same thing and it feels so good to be able to reclaim that part of me again ☀️ Can't wait to see where your journey takes you!! Love your videos 🩷
Thank you so much! I used to do the 5 tibetans every morning in my 20s (way too long ago now) at the start of my spiritual journey! Thank you for bringing it back into my life, especially right now when I need it so much!💖
Marissa i can relate to this video so much. Once i got a CPAP machine my life turn around in 3 days! I was exercising for a year before but no weight loss. Then i lost 40 lbs in 6 months. Im 56 and feel more energy and enthusiasm for life than i had when raising my kids. It's great to be in touch with that inner part- I'm Baby Bull Strong 💪 and keep taking steps every day. Yep ITS A JOURNEY - ENJOY 🎉
That is so amazing! It’s crazy how one small thing can make such a huge impact - thank you for sharing, your comment might help or inspire someone else who sees it in the future as well 🙏
Hello Marissa. Great video! I recently discovered your channel while browsing content creators for minimalism. I like this video a lot! I recently recommitted to my own exercise program (weights and cardio; created by my personal trainer). You have inspired me to keep going! I also appreciate your humility and modesty in not wanting to share your specific body measurements. Similarly, I keep some things to myself. I am 53 years old and am at the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I am still seeking to accept that, but it is happening! Time for the gym! Thank you for your hard work! ✌️❤️
Thanks for the reminder. My hubby and I used to do these years ago. I’m going to restart today!! It is actually pretty amazing how little you need to do to feel better, it’s just the starting that’s hard
I'm 73 years old and can touch my toes, yes. I yoga a few times a week, almost every morning, but sometimes I have no joy in it, because of my cold room. It lies at the west side of our house and there's almost allways a westwind here at the coaster of Holland. I'm going to try-out your exercises from Tibet for shore! Thank you!
I’m new to yoga! It’s excellent for my back pain!! I now know the true importance of stretching! I think yoga is going to help me stay well in many ways.
The last time I weighed 132.8 pounds, I was in the sixth grade I think. You did AWESOME!!! CONGRATULATIONS on your consistency!!! Inspiring for sure. I'm on a wellness path, myself. Thank you for sharing your routine! 💘 Once upon a time, I did get uncomfortable about moving my ass in public, but once I became truly confident that *my body has nothing whatsoever to do with my worth as a human* I just don't care what anyone thinks about my body. It's harder to judge my own body knowing this, as well. Keep up the wonderful work!
I fully agree to what you said about your concern what others might think about your body or your way of executing the exercises. This is why I do not want to go to a gym but prefer doing all exercises at home. You are definitely not alone with this kind of fear! ❤
As a former athlete it was really shocking to find myself feeling this way! But I think it’s important to feel good and comfortable and what you do, so that you’ll continue doing it ❤️
I used to do the Tibetan Rites but I have osteoarthritis so I would have trouble doing a couple of poses, mostly the table top pose. I could try again and maybe work up to all of the poses. I enjoyed doing these and its a good way to start your day. Thank you!
I love this idea of doing the 5 rites each day. I, too, have set the challenge to do this for every day of August. I've just completed this mornings, that was hard and I had to stop a few times but I'm looking forward to seeing my improvements over the best 31 days! Thank you for sharing this.
So excited to see this video! My husband has been doing these rites daily for a year now and he swears by them. His mobility has improved tons. I thought he was the only one doing these exercises so I can't wait to share this video with him 😅. I do a daily 10 minute Yoga with Cassandra video daily, which I love. Maybe I'll give these Tibetan rites a try too. Well done and thanks for sharing.
I stumbled across this video and I’m so glad I did. I’ve been struggling so much with self-esteem, motivation, stress, and my relationship with food. Watching your video I aspire to be as comfortable as you are and admire how far you have come. I appreciate that you shared your vulnerability with us and didn’t minimize your journey. Looking forward to more videos- New subscriber.
This was SUCH a lovely video to come across, it was meant for me to see! Absolutely lovely. I have to say, though the link you shared to the yoga site, was good! I much preferred your presentation of the 'rites'!!! I am also now a subscriber to your channel. I've been delving into little bits of decluttering more and more. It's just SO incredibly alluring and love how you've shared it with everyone. I hope VERY much to try the Tibetan Rites. I am 54 and previous Kundalini Yoga for about 10 years, but not in the 'hard core traditional sense.' Hoping to deploy measures of clearing the clutter on many levels! And try committing to a daily practice of yoga... (hopefully I can do the rites! I love that idea so much!) Very grateful for you being here. You've made a VERY positive difference! 🤗🙏🌺
Thank you Marissa. I'm 67 and although I walk daily and am recovering from a hip replacement, I think these are exercises I can do! I have been looking for more full body work. Currently we are in an RV at our kids in Alaska for 2 months... talk about lack of movement! I will be doing the challenge with my 35 year old daughter when I return to Utah in Sept. You INSPIRED us both! I laughed at your jiggly bits. I had a friend that says, "You can tell the age of a woman by the length of her sleeves." HA I'm to elbow length now! Take care. 🥰
YES! "It's like finding buried treasure and the treasure is a little part of myself that I thought that I'd lost forever..." --I understand! That made me cry- in a good way! You've inspired me! Today I will be bringing back my morning beach walk and adding the 5 Tibetan Rites into my morning routine! .... I have a life-long love affair with fitness...even though I am confident at the gym, I absolutely relate to the "Shy Fit Girl" you so very perfectly articulated! Moving our bodies in a way that moves our spirit is THE BEST! THANK YOU for sharing!
Yay!!! I am so excited about this video! You are amazing all the time, no matter your weight, but making fitness a priority will make your life better for your whole life!! I am a personal trainer, so obviously I love exercise. But I am also a former binge eater, so I absolutely understand the struggle, especially when it comes to food and body image. Thank you for having the courage to share this!
Aw, so inspiring and reassuring! I totally relate to being self conscious about others judging when exercising, thank you so much for being honest and brave enough to share this. I too find it unbelievably hard sustain a regular exercise habit, a habit for myself. What you said about this is helpful, encouraging and relatable. Heartfelt thanks ❤
The Chinese word zen was derived from the Indian word ‘dhyan’ (female version - dhyana). The original intent of yoga was not for people to get exercise but for achieving enlightenment. And there are several versions of it, many of which are not slow or whatever you said. Even elite athletes could not keep up with certain yoga practices or sessions. Many of these videos are available on yt. And another little nugget, the original form of marshal arts was developed by a yogi called Bodhi dharma who traveled to China to teach yoga and meditation but felt a need to come up with some kind of marshal arts practice to strengthen people up before they start true form of yoga and meditation.
After spending 4 months living in Baja I have learned to enjoy early mornings. Now my routine involves getting up early to hit the gym before work (!). I get up early enough for a 25 minute meditation before the gym. Never did I think I was a person who would get up to do things before work, but I enjoy it! Going to visit these 5 Tibetan rites, too. Thanks! Oh yeah, I can touch my toes. never been a problem for me.
This is so inspiring and motivating!! Thank you Marissa ❤ I was never able to touch my toes even after taking gymnastics class for 2 years when I was still a child!
I just started doing this, and I don’t know how but I already created a habit without even trying. I have been deeply sedentary for years, mixed with the normal stressful job. Inside an unhealthy spiral. But in less than a week I wake up rested and sleep deep as I have never ever done. I wasn’t expecting any change and least of all within just days. Thanks for the video, you inspired me and now I feel something is already changing within me ❤
I really enjoyed how much better you feel. I was told exercise every day helps with movement, sleep, mood and weight. I definitely want to get back into a routine that is good for me.
I just want to say thank you so much for introducing this to me. Since I first saw your video I’ve been doing them everyday for the last 2 to 3 months now. I do a strenuous workout twice a week, but I have always wanted something simple I could do everyday. Doing the my “daily 5” now has become a wonderful habit for me and has increased my physical fitness. I’ve added to it some flexibility and balance as well and am amazed at the progress in such a short period of time. I’ve come to the conclusion that consistency trumps intensity. I introduced this to kids that I teach PE and other adults- who have thanked me. I just want to thank you for starting something in me that has become such a gift! 🙏☺️
I definitely want to try these exercises! I also find yoga boring - i like that the exercises are so simple I can remember the moves and reps without having to follow a video. I agree about the buried treasure, thank you so much for your vulnerability
Morning exercise routine is walking 3 to 5 miles, Yoga with Adrienne (UA-cam), strength circuit 2 times a week. This video is FABULOUS and I will be adding this daily starting today (August 1) for 30 days and see what I notice. Thank you for your amazing videos and showing vulnerability. 💜
So I started this 5 days ago and I have to say, you are a badass if you did 21 rounds from the start. I can honestly only do 10 each right now. Hoping to work up by the end of 30 days 🎉
I did this daily for 9 months. My upper body really developed and I felt strong. My flexibility only increased minimally despite doing it every day for almost a year.
Thank you for sharing your experiments and vulnerability. I’ve struggled for so long with so many things and most books and videos, while possibly inspiring, end up making me feel like I’m failing. But not your content. Watching your videos makes me feel seen. There’s a lightness, compassion and flexibility that feels unique to me. I’ve slowly started to declutter (in my maximalist way) and now am inspired to figure out my barriers and try a morning routine. Thank you. ❤
i am so glad to have found this.. I am 46 and temporarily suspended going to the gym since last month because of some medical reasons. I have been eating so unhealthily and feeling so sluggish and fat since then. Really looking forward now to doing these to keep some movement going.
You are absolutely NOT alone in having those insecurities! And you do not have to share anything on here that you dont want to. I completely understand not wanting ppl to see certain things about yourself. I'm super happy for you that it's making you happy. I wanna try the Tibetan rites😊
❤ It’s awesome to see how many of us you have inspired already with this fun and informative video! Thank you for sharing your struggles so openly and publicly. And thanks for that great tip about putting your calendar somewhere very visible!
As a "newbie" to your channel I appreciated your willingness to "be real". I need/desire to get back in motion and your authenticity motivates me take the first step. Thank you.
To answer your questions: 1) my morning routine is coffee, almonds, and dark chocolate; 2) at 59 I can easily touch my toes, even put my hands flat on the floor while standing; but I cannot take credit for it. Some are born with good eyesight or something. I was born limber. *Never* would I exercise in front of another person. And you are 💯% correct: if exercise isn't fun, it ain't gonna happen.
I did the 5 Tibets for many years every morning and since I moved to another continent and live another lifestyle I stopped doing 5 Tibets, Yoga and qi Gong. My body showed me recently in the most painful way that I need to exercise. And so I started in the morning in bed with yoga and thanks to your video I remembered the 5 Tibets. It's all about doing. Thank you.
A few years ago, I tried a local gym and received the biggest "You dont belong here" vibe and ignored it for a couple weeks, then when one of the gym staff members/coaches made a gagging noise as he walked by another lady beginning her fitness journey. We both were out of there real quick. I then decided to join my husband's workplace gym and the facility manager has been fantastic and a very welcome change to what myself, the other lady and I imagine many other clients had to endure from the previous one.
Thank you so much for this. This morning I woke up and decided randomly to stretch and it felt so good. I don't exercise, and I am overweight after being thin for most of my life (baby #2 turned 4 in February, and I hadn't lost a pound since his birth!). I started feeling pretty bad recently but only decided today I NEEDED to start somewhere. Then I came to UA-cam today and see this. And it is EXACTLY what I need to start. I get exercise induced hives so traditional exercise isn't something I am able to do so I've just put it off for years. I found myself a printable poster of the 5 rites, and printed a 30 day challenge tracker. I've got this! And my husband wants to join me, which will provide both of us with accountability.
My morning routines are walking for 40-45 minutes and do Yoga. But I am going to try the exercise you mentioned here. And I am going to do a 30 day challenge inspired by you! Thank you!❤
Lady! Don’t worry about it! You don’t have to be so open and vulnerable. I’m just happy to find interesting content to make myself a better human being. Thank you for the video.
I saw your TBH video. At the time was unable to perform all the exercises. I'm 70 so I have difficulty getting up from the floor. However I finally found an exercise I'm happy to do daily. Last December I signed up to Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). We had 2 goals to meet in the first 6 months. 1-Lose 5% body weight 2-Exercise 150 minutes a week. At the time I could barely do 20 minutes a week. I found a UA-cam channel for a daily exercise I now love. Imi's Bigan Yoga, it's moving and self massage yoga, not posing yoga. I'm happy to say I met both my goals and am working on maintaining those goals and losing another 5% body weight. Plus I am able to do far more work in my yard and house than I had been able to do previously. Now I believe I am able do the TBH and will add it for variety. Thank you!
Congrats on entering your 40s. I loved my decade of 40s and it seems that a lot of women enjoy their 40s. I hope you find this next decade rewarding and enjoyable. Also, I've started the process of getting rid all but the things that are essential or meaningful to me- your videos were the first I saw on this topic and have motivated me to take action. I hope that by the end of summer, my home has a fresh and lighter feel to it. Fortunately, my home in Asia is not large, but still I've managed to fill every nook and cranny with things that I haven't used or looked at in a long time. I retire from my teaching position in 5 years and I want to be investing my free-time between now and then on my hobbies including travel, fitness and learning new things and figuring out the next chapter of my life before that chapter is upon me. Getting rid of things that don't add value to my life seems like a positive move into the future. Thanks again for the inspiration and knowledge.
I can touch my feet comfortably in yoga.. But never been able to put my feet flat on the floor in downward dog..! So don’t worry about that so much..! 😉 Thanks for this video. I used to do this years ago with an old flatmate..! Though had totally forgot..! And I didn’t know where it originated from. Thanks hun ❤🙏🏻
You made me say "oooohhh" when you showed your fleece sweats. I live in Colorado, and those would help me stay motivated to do my walking in our little gym. Thanks for this video, I'm getting stiffer the older I get and not stretching or exercising is not an option anymore.
Habit tracking was a game changer for me! Just having the physical evidence of what I achieve in my daily dairy has definitely been motivating... I get up at 4am every morning to do yoga and meditate...the tracking has made sure I never skip a day.
Hello! I live in the Colorado Rockies high country. We also don't have AC because we don't need it more than a week or so a year. This year we installed a whole house fan that we run overnight to seal in the cool air. Before the fan, inside temps would get close to 90. Now it maxes out around 75. Not really related to your video but may be something to consider. It was a game changer this summer! Great video 😊
You’re adorable and brave. It helps me to take my right hand, put it across my chest and pat my left shoulder and say to myself good job girl whenever I do something that is a challenge, so “good job girl “ !
Thank you so much for making this video!!! You've inspired me to step outside my 'self-imposed' boundaries. I want to work out in the morning and these 5 Tibetan rites sound great and helps set up for a good day. I also enjoy doing tai chi as it makes me feel so good, very relaxed and remarkably mindful. Thank you again! Have a wonderful week! 😊💖🙏
Refreshing honesty here ❤ I know the feeling of thinking a part of you was lost and finding it again after many years. For your chin, I recommend the Cantienica method which can also be done especially for the face.
Thanks for sharing! I never understood the adage "Oh, you don't look (insert actual age)!" I think you look 40, as you should, as that's how old you are--and there is nothing wrong with that, love - it's a celebration of life! There is nothing wrong with looking 35, 40, 50, 70! It's a privilege that we get to be on the earth each year and we should celebrate our age.
I started this challenge for August. But I am learning to be gentle with myself so I started with 3 rounds and increase 2 rounds each day until I reach the suggested 21 rounds. Hardest move for me is the tabletop, on day 3 I'm slightly starting to get it going. But I try to accept that I am only learning and the moves will get smoother with repetition. This could be something for me to do for longer as well. Thanks for the video.
Same here. I will start with 3 rounds and stick to it for 3 days before I increase. I learned the "5 Tibeter" 33 years ago, staretd too fast and man I got heavy (detox) problems. I have not done the exercise for more than 20 years but only a few month ago I ordered the little book by Amazon. And I will start TODAY!! Promise.
Thanks for this video. I might add as a 67 year old and still able to do physical exercises as I did in my 20's, to do primal exercises. Our bodies are designed to roll, jump, run, push, pull, hang and twist every day. Also, primal (or Asian squats) are the best. 🙂
I imagine Little Marisa radiating joy when Grown Marisa rediscovers her. Little Girl lost. I suppose we all have one buried inside. Thank you for sharing that you found yours.🙏
Never let anyone hold you back from what you want to do or say because of what others might think. And yes, I have to remind myself here and there of the fact that what others think is none of my business; exceptions apply. And never let anyone or anything pressure you into doing or sharing something that you don't feel comfortable with or about. For me, getting older seems to lower the number of EFFs I am willing to give to a narrative, pressure, or conformity that doesn't feel right in my gut. Thank you, Marissa, for sharing whatever you feel comfortable with while you journey to greatness! And yes, that's where you are headed! ❤❤✌️
Not all yogic poses are static. For example, sun salutation (Surya Namaskara) is a series of poses where you’re constantly moving! It’s one of the best morning routines as it involves the whole body. Your fav pose (downward dog/plank) shown here is part of Surya Namaskara routine. Give those sequences a try and doing them 12 times at first will leave you breathless.
Give us the recipies from this completed renovation dinner.
Do you work?
You sound like a beautiful woman
Wow!! That's great! You are inspiration
@@gerafinali4384 If she works, she need to be very consistent with an amazing willpower

I think what people need to realize is no matter what movement 'routine' you choose, you will see far great benefits from consistent daily use of the body compared to just existing in stillness.
Consistency is always key!
@punkin314.. Yup 👍,
“use it or lose it”, “motion is lotion”..,
P.S. I also regularly enjoy my rocking chair & hammock..✌️
@@jedlimen123 If you rest, you rust! I LOVE my hammock ❤
The slow build up makes sense... I've just spinned 21 times and got nauseous 😅
Thanks! Very useful info!
Are you serious about the spinning? I'm waaaay down in New Zealand, so you're saying I should be going anticlockwise to unwind?🙃😉
I was planning to make a very similar comment, but knew that someone else must have already. She is such a sweetheart!!! 🥰
Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words, cheers ❤️
🥰🥰🥰
Actually the traditional yoga from India is also not static, it depends if you also combine mantra chanting or a breath meditation, like Surya Namaskar a recognisable one is a sequence of movements. Love the video
Melissa! You do not have to do everything! Trust your gut about your boundaries. I am so glad you feel better. I had an injury and I fell out of exercising. You inspire me to start again. I will do the challenge as well! Lots of love
Good luck and lots of love right back!
Thank you!
Think you are only supposed to do this in increments of 3.
Loving your video to remind us all ❤
That’s amazing and thanks for sharing Adrienne’s channel - maybe someone else who sees your comment will find it helpful 👏
I don't judge. Anyone who can consistently do a morning routine for 30 days - my hat is off to you!!
Yes, this last sentiment was helpful to me as well.
🎉 thats so awesome
@@oops-iam708 Thanks!
Wow! that is an amazing accomplishment!
@@jillianjiggs84 Thank you!
Thanks so much for your kind words and for watching ❤️
I've been currently going through the same thing and it feels so good to be able to reclaim that part of me again ☀️
Can't wait to see where your journey takes you!!
Thank you!
I used to do 5 tibetan rites in the past but I still prefer yoga 🧘♀️. I am practicing ashtanga 4xweek and it is giving me strength and flexibility.
I’m new to yoga! It’s excellent for my back pain!! I now know the true importance of stretching! I think yoga is going to help me stay well in many ways.
Yoga is so powerful for both body and mind. Enjoy it and profit from it 🙏@@TheRoom2Breathe
But I think it’s important to feel good and comfortable and what you do, so that you’ll continue doing it ❤️
Marissa, you are an inspiration. Your humble vulnerability is a beautiful trait. I wish you many blessings for your continued health and well-being 🙏🏼
I used to do the Tibetan Rites but I have osteoarthritis so I would have trouble doing a couple of poses, mostly the table top pose.
I’ve started today and will try to go 30 days, but even after today-- it feels wonderful ❤️
I love your ready to go workout space! I’m going to use it to model my own. This part is so underrated for regular practice. You’re an inspiration.
I am 54 and previous Kundalini Yoga for about 10 years, but not in the 'hard core traditional sense.'
Hoping to deploy measures of clearing the clutter on many levels! And try committing to a daily practice of yoga... (hopefully I can do the rites! I love that idea so much!)
Very grateful for you being here.
Take care. 🥰
The length of her sleeves - SO TRUE! Stay warm and take care.
Thank you Marissa ❤
I was never able to touch my toes even after taking gymnastics class for 2 years when I was still a child!
Yoga is over rated.
I teared up too when you spoke about reclaiming a part of yourself which you lost. God bless you ❤
I just started doing this, and I don’t know how but I already created a habit without even trying. I have been deeply sedentary for years, mixed with the normal stressful job. Inside an unhealthy spiral. But in less than a week I wake up rested and sleep deep as I have never ever done. I wasn’t expecting any change and least of all within just days. Thanks for the video, you inspired me and now I feel something is already changing within me ❤
Really good stuff here!! From history, to movement, to room temp, to food/body … How generous of you to share with us. I’m so grateful! ☺️👏💕
I really enjoyed how much better you feel. I was told exercise every day helps with movement, sleep, mood and weight. I definitely want to get back into a routine that is good for me.
It’s amazing how much it spills over into all those areas 💪
Thank you for your authentic honesty and sharing the videos each week
Adrienne is awesome!! Good shout out
Thank you for sharing your experiments and vulnerability.
Thank you.
Thanks for your kind words and happy to have you here 🙏
OMG I hate working out around people so posting myself working out on video is always the last thing I want to do! Totally feel you!! Great video 🙌🏻
I just discovered you, and I’m so excited! I started my own personal 30 day challenge this morning. And I invited my grown daughters to try it too.
That’s AWFUL! I’m glad you found a space to feel safe and comfortable in ❤️
Thank you so much for this.
The inspiration I needed!! Your home looks so peaceful 💖
🤗❤️
Not just you that can’t touch your toes and 50 to. Thank you for the inspirational honest video I liked the practical side of this video.
Just exercising to maintain mobility is a plus. Thank you for sharing this method. I'm 68 and can still touch my toes, but I need to be more active.
It’s a great goal ❤️
You’re adorable and brave. It helps me to take my right hand, put it across my chest and pat my left shoulder and say to myself good job girl whenever I do something that is a challenge, so “good job girl “ !
Thank you so much for making this video!!! You've inspired me to step outside my 'self-imposed' boundaries. I want to work out in the morning and these 5 Tibetan rites sound great and helps set up for a good day. I also enjoy doing tai chi as it makes me feel so good, very relaxed and remarkably mindful. Thank you again! Have a wonderful week! 😊💖🙏
Refreshing honesty here ❤
I know the feeling of thinking a part of you was lost and finding it again after many years.
For your chin, I recommend the Cantienica method which can also be done especially for the face.
Thanks for this video! It’s inspiring me to start doing the Tibetan rites again. Love the way you explained how to do them ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Yay first comment and second like. Love this channel. Best to your and your family. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, hugs to you 🤗
Yes, I have been uncovering my own buried treasure athlete again lately. And she is very much alive! Thanks for your encouragement.
Promise.
We are our own harshest critics so I understand your feelings, but you look great doing the exercises! Thanks for sharing!!
